Back on the road to the magic slimdom - Roosters Road trip

WeEklY WeIgH IN!!!! YAY!

Another 6lbs off.. that brings total loss to 29lbs so I've kicked the 2 stone mark, I'm over a quarter of the way there.

Bring on week 5!:)

Cor lummy that's completely AMAZING.
What ever you're doing on that bike don't stop.

I'm going to the gym nxt week.recent circs have conspired against.(in order they were1.family virus 2.migraine 3 half-term hols 4.planning H's 50th(= tomorrow).what I love about this diet is that I've still lost despite being temporarily sedentary. On a normal diet with these last few weeks I would have been putting in the food work just in order to try & stand still til I could resume the gym.

Come on Roosters, way to go!!!!!!!!!!

Nice one x

Day 30

Firstly I would like to know if anyone would like to buy a 14 and a 1/2 month old - particularly good for keeping fit, does require owner to have eyes in back of head!

firstly i must explain why I haven't posted in a couple of days, 2 reasons, firstly, my OH has discovered 'second life.com' and is addicted so my PC access has been limited to when he is at work, usually this would be ok as I'd type while Evie watches Balamory. Evie however has turned into a demon, she's discovered how to climb, so if I take my eyes off her for a second, she's straight up onto the coffee table, I take my eyes off her for 2 seconds and she's on the window ledge. So my previous 'baby proof' room has many many more hazards to be dealt with before she can be left alone. this means that the constant trips for water glugging induced weees include a little helper, it's not too bad though, I've trained her to come in, shut the door, do a little dance and sing Pssssssssss till the job is done, which keeps me amused. reason number 2 is that the diet is a lot easier now, and before I was using my diary as a crutch, I still need you VERY much, but I'm not ok to go solo for a few days. (although catching up with everyone else is somewhat time consuming)

Saturday! - So after the fab news of my 6lbs loss OH and I decided to take off for the day, so we loaded up the car, push chair, rain cover, nappies, water, water, water etc and off we went to Scarborough Sea life centre. It was Marvelous! OH loves natural history programs and Evie loves animal programs so they often sit and watch together, it was lovely to see Evie so excited at seeing penguins and seals and turtles in real life. there was also one of those warm fuzzy family moments while we were huddled together outside watching the seals getting fed. AWWwwwww. The pre diet me wouldn't have enjoyed any of this as much. before, any where we went I would be counting down till lunch and wondering what delight there would be in the cafe. It's amazing not to obsess about food anymore, it makes you appreciate other things in a way I never thought possible. I did treat myself to a diet coke Zero in the cafe and it was very yummy :)

Sunday - The big CLEAN

So, one of the spring cleaning thingys that you have to do from time to time, our bedroom was getting littered with clothes, a mixture of clean, dirty and baby. 'how scruffy' I hear you say, and yes, my bedroom seems to always be a tip, but this time in my defence 3 of my 4 draws are broken so there's no where for the clothes to live. (admittedly the draws got broken after months of being slammed shut because there was nothing 'nice' to wear (which means only tent style fat clothes. :( ) So the draws got glue and clamped together (it's handy living with a Joiner, ((though I'm not sure why it took so long for said Joiner to 'join' draws, but hey)).

I also had a good root round my pre baby clothes and have found some lovely 'timeless' items that will always be in fashion that I can wear when I get a bit thinner. (well, quite a bit thinner)

Evening means exercise bike - 12 miles!!! wow, I'm even impressing myself.

Monday - Shopping!! the usual weekly drudge
Exercise bike - 10 miles  :D

Tuesday (today)

Not been a good one so far. Had car booked in for MOT this morning, so asked bro to drop it in for me, if I followed and took it home. (I would have dropped it myself and walked back with Evie, but I would need to take car seat with me and thats a wee bit on the bulky side to carry home) so Bro arrives 15 mins late. ( I hate being late for things) so bad mood already upto number 2 on the Richter scale. So took bro back to my mums house, and stayed as mum and I were going on our weekly vigil to my Grandads house on the coast to do his shop/cleaning. (so I can do the shop/cleaning and MUm can hold Evie) Then bro decided he would come to and that he would drive. (bro still performs handbrake turns, drives above the limit, talks on his phone, and is one of those drivers that grips the steering wheel between thumb and forefinger of one hand.) so calmly explained that I would drive, this got bro very disgruntled, lots of swearing and chuntering (by him) interrupted by a phonecall from garage. Car is going to cost £300 to get through MOT  :sigh: 'go ahead' I tell him..it's cheaper than buying a new car. Bro is starts muttering something about the car, by this time my bad mood is climbing the bad mood Richter scale rapidly so decide to make a speedy exit. Then Mum (who had previously been quiet during the driving conversation) implied that I had issues re Evie, 'too over protective'. Well, something popped and I let rip at them both, something along the lines of a nearing 30 yr old man still living at home with his mother, out of work, something something, still relies on Mother to wake him up in the mornings should he ever need to be up before noon. So took evie home and slowly calmed down. felt VERY tempted to eat, but resisted.

Goodness, if you resisted that then you'll resist anything!!!!

10 miles on the bike, nice one, I want one now!!

Well done x

Now I just know that you don't realy mean this.I bet she's a little angel really.
Evie's discovered how to climb, so if I take my eyes off her for a second, she's straight up onto the coffee table, I take my eyes off her for 2 seconds and she's on the window ledge.
I'm liking Evie more & more.A child mountaineer.

that sounds so nice,a real family golden-moment

Sunday - The big CLEAN

So, one of the spring cleaning thingys that you have to do from time to time, our bedroom was getting littered with clothes, a mixture of clean, dirty and baby. 'how scruffy'

Actually when I read this I thought 'how normal'

I hear you say, and yes, my bedroom seems to always be a tip, but this time in my defence 3 of my 4 draws are broken so there's no where for the clothes to live.

I reckon thats normal too

Well I reckon you've stood firm in the face of pretty extreme provocation & temptation & that's brilliant.

ps Would you consider a part exchange? One nearly new toddler in place of a v muddy 6yr boy, An arrogant loudmouth 9yrold & 12 yr old proto-teenager with attitude?

Oh the evil world of city councils

ps Would you consider a part exchange? One nearly new toddler in place of a v muddy 6yr boy, An arrogant loudmouth 9yrold & 12 yr old proto-teenager with attitude?

Hmmm.. tempting but I don't think OH would forgive me if I gave/swapped child without any money changing hands :D

RIGHT! Time for a rant

Bloooooooody council are taking OH and I to court over non payment of council tax!! rewinding a little, we couldn't quite manage the January payment, the last 1 before the 2 month break so I phoned and explained situation and asked if we could pay two lots of £60, this would have us all paid up until the new payments start in April and they agreed. So, 2 weeks ago, I paid my first £60 and thought nothing of it, the next £60 would be paid next week when OH gets paid for the job he's on. Then this morning, a letter from the courts.. 2pm March 14th we're being summonds for non payment of council tax     . for the full 1 months amount too £119 instead of £59 (what it should be taking off the £60 I already paid). and it gets worse £50 costs!! So I rang them and spoke to what I can only describe as a demon woman from hell. (sorry to get petty, but I feel pretty damn petty). I managed to get her to ackowledge the £60 already paid, and after calmly talking this through with her for a few minutes, she began to get irate ( I thought it was the customer that was meant to get shirty not the council office workers, but hey, what do I know, I'm simply one of the hopeless trusting fools that the council can con more money out of.)

So the jist was regardless of the fact that I had reached a verbal agreement on the phone with a council worker previously regarding the 2 payments, I still have to pay the remaining £59 (I don't mind paying this, it was on the agenda anyway) I also have to pay the additional £50 costs BEFORE the court date or the court will add a liability order which will be an additional amount of money to pay to the council.

SOOOoo to rub salt in the wounds, the first call I made to them when I was initially telling them about my payment problems the lady said that we were most definatly eligiable for council tax benefit.. I'd never even heard of this, so the forms were sent out and we're in the process putting acounts together for the buisness as the world seems to be against self-employed people also! This has no bearing to the court case though.. another huge bug bare is that I am 95% sure (thank you martin lewis you money saving expert you) that we are in the wrong council tax band but as tenants cannot address this with them as we've been a tenent more than 6 months (bloomin small print)

So, we are not expected to pay full council tax due to low income but have to do accounts before we can prove this, we are in the wrong band so the amount is wrong anyways AND we had made an aggreement to pay in 2 installments. Non of this matters to the greedy council and once again, it's the people on lower income that are taxed for just simply being poor. What a world we live in.

diets fine.

black jeans are too big now. down to 1 pair (fixed the zip though)

        my right cheek is flushed with anger re council so I'm going to get a glass of water

OH Roosters I don't know what to say.It sounds sooo unfair, soo stressful & probably worst of all SSSOOOO expensive.

Trying to add constructive ideas here.
1. You're far too small for a pr of size 22 Evans Jeans-(unworn & needing a home) I suppose aren't you.If not they're yours.
2. Have you tried the CAB.They seem to specialise in helping the little people against unfair authority etc.
3.If you got the council lady on the phne to acknowledge that your conversation with the 'payment-compromise' employee did take place. Then would it be possible to either trace said employee &/or get a written statement to the effect that the split final payment had infact been agreed by them & therefore their summons is in contradicion to their own contract with you.also = a vital thing to tell CAB.
4. Yes I agree the world does seem to be against the self employed when it comes to loans/mortgages/credit etc. It's the other side of the coin that has all the fuzzy tax allowances.Nothing you can do about it at present.
5.Here's a chicken to cheer you up.She's a cream-legbar is called Echo (ask the kids) & lays pale blue/green eggs.

ps if you want to sound off more-I'mhere,as are the rest of minimins. If you want to write unprintable stuff about tha council womans parentage or bodily functions I could easily cope with an X-rated PM.

Aww thanks for the kind offer Jane, but I'm just about squeezing into 18's now.

Fantastic Idea, I'm going to get in touch with them on Monday, maybe even the local paper too!

i can't even remember her name!!

aww thank you!! how sweet!! I'm so looking forward to getting some lovely chickens of our very own!! also on lovely sunny days like today I think cultivating my own little vegge patc would be wonderfu too!!

OOoohhhhh whilst I was on one of my many wee trips (sorry for to much info but i was) I was sitting there, watching Evie do her psssssst dance when i heard this 'buck buck buck' noise, our neihbours have got some chickens!! aww maybe this will help to convince our land lord that they would be a good idea.

I'm looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow, I don't own any scales so I haven't weighed since last Sat. fingers crossed for a good result

I've done the domestic goddess thing again this morning, I've roasted a chicken (but I feel so bad about it now sorry Echo) and made a ginormous salad with potatow wedges, squishy white bread and all the pickly trimmings and fed it to my mum and god mother! God Mother not seen me since diet and says I look much 'better' this is a compliment(?) I've been getting a lot from friends and family. 'better' hmm..

Not a grain of food past my lips, but I'm finding it very easy to resist food now. God Mother seemed amazed that I could excersise such self control. I felt underseving of the praise though, because it is quite easy now. :)

I ran out of fizzy water yesterday and so had to forgo my 2 litre fizzy water treat I have every evening now. I've restocked today and bizarly I'm really looking forward to it. Never in my life would I have ever even imagined that I would look forward to somthing so ..well, Dull!

I spoke to soon...

Huge carby cravings this afternoon!! I was day dreaming about the chicken dinner .. I rsisted however, put Baby to bed and hen cycled 12 miles on excersise bike at 18 - 19 mph.. Far too much realy, I nearly fell out the bath!!

So, not long unill the weekly weigh in, though I must say I feel slightly bloated which is worrying me slightly! I'm sure I'll sleep it off in time for CDC in the morning.

Right, I'm off to watch Charlotte Church..

what a coincidence.I was just talking to H the other night about getting a few veg up & running this year. What seems like a wholelife time ago, in the years BC (= before children) we lived in town & had one of those long thin gardens. We were almost self sufficient in veg.It was so nice getting home from work, down to the patch to find something for supper. That was when I first got a few bock-bocks.

I haven't decided what to go for yet-mustn't try & do to much.(Keep forgetting there's only 24 hrs a day & I sleep most of those.) I tell you what, if you choose a few to grow & I do a few we can compare notes?
One thing I thought I would try ,(after paying over £2 for a butternut squash for a veg soup, then finding it had come from Brazil:eek: ,) is a selection of squashes. In theory I can store them through the winter.Sweetcorn is another i might do .Only a short season but you can't beet the just-picked taste.Swiss chard is my fave spinach -type crop & it harvests for 6 months. Also onions -from sets (can't cope with from seed at present) as I love stringing them & hanging fromthe ceiling.H bangs his head onthem & I can pretend to be an earth mother who knits her own yoghurt.
Please tell me how you get on with the veggies. I guess you'll be influenced by what catches Evie's eye. Can't beat carrots for kiddies.

Reckon you've been sent a hint there.Oh & I've just remembered there's a really nice breed called Black Rock. Hardy, goodlayers etc specially for domestic situations.
If you're short of space bantams are an alternative but they tend to be more flighty.

Colin looked like a relly nice chap. One day I'm sureyou'll be in a position to give a home to son of colin.

What a coincidence-you've changed your Avatar! I got bored of pirate-penguin so loaded up Dogin.Does the hamster have a name?

Good luck for the weigh in & go get that council.

Dogin is rather Cute - The hamster had a name, Haratio. Then we discovered he was a she and since then is refered to as 'the hamster'. we toyed with the idea of calling her Bob, which all Blackadder fans will know is short for Kate, but still unsure.

Good luck for the weigh in & go get that council.

aw they look lovely!! and they make Omlette ingreidients, what more could you want from a pet.

Yes, what a lovely idea! I'm going to have to start with whatever I can grow in a pot, I'm going to venture out today and find some large ones.

Butter nu squash's from Brazil ?!?! my goodness, so not only did it cost so much it also came with it's own carbon footprint! . I'm a huge fan of Hugh Fernley wittingstall and keep reading his books promising myself I was going to become a seasonal organic eater. What season do you get chocolate shakes from anyway? :D

Week 5 weigh in

Well the news is not so good this week, although I have been preparing myself for a 'low' loss week I didn't realise how disheartening it can be. I've been drinking around 6 or 7 litres of water a day and this week have clocked around 60 miles on the excersise bike! and no cheating!

Even my CDC was asking me if I'd had any 'extras' oh well

So 2 lb off.
total loss 2 stone 3 lb

you're Ok there.the shakes grow on an evergreen bush that can be harvested perpetually on a cut-n-come-again basis.T.hey require no additional fertilizer & as they grow in every locality there will be the minimum of food miles as well

You are right of course, I snuck on the scales at my mums house yesterday, they seem in tune with the CDC's scales so I'm pretty confident in saying that I have lost another 4 lbs since weigh in. Yay!!

Thank you for the primrose, so pretty :)

Hey Roosters i've just clocked up a 6lb loss & I've been nibbling on biccies all week

No only kidding.2lb-which is OK as I had feared it'd be 0.Haven't been 100% this week-more like 99%.little bits of brassica & lettuce have gone in.
I did the sums based on your illegal weigh in at mums
YOU DO REALISE THAT WOULD TAKE YOU TO 2 1/2ST IN 6/52! tish tish-a pitiful loss.

Week 6

Minimins I miss you!!! I honestly don't know where the time goes!

Well, the past couple of days I've only had time for brief visits to the land of weigt loss - Evie's full of cold, so is very clingy, which is awful for her, but I'm secretly loving mummying her - when she's on top form she's far too busy charging around for 'sit still cuddles' the past couple of days we've been joined at the hip. She's much better now though. :)

a word of warning, I've lost my spellchecker!! I don't know how or why but it's disapeared from the top of my Windows explorerer so I'm going solo with the spelling thing and I must confess, spelling is definatly one of weak points :eek: So my apologies now for any errors I may make until i get my beloved spellchecker back.

Well, everything is going ok .. I've cut back on the cycling, much as i loved it i was starting to feel completely run down, I tried a gentle 5 mile ride last night as I did feel so much better, I was little wobberly afterwards but nothing a good nightes sleep and afew pints of water coudn't solve.

ho hum, well back to the cleaning I suppose, then out to do banking and library, Evie has eaten her library book  hmm, should be interesting tring to return that one.

Its absolute rubbish isn't it! MUST TRY HARDER!! :) :p  :D

Roosters I declare that that comment above is just thinly disguised smugness!
Evie's full of cold, She's much better now though. :) glad she's getting over it

a word of warning, I've lost my spellchecker!!
there's one at the top R hand corner of the reply box here on minimins-never used it (that much is obvious) but i shoud think it works.

Evie has eaten her library book  hmm, should be interesting tring to return that one.
She obviously needed the roughage.

when do you weigh in officially? I want to have a celebration glass of water for the 2 1/2 stone.

Yes, I think a maybe just a tad guilty of being smug, I was just in the glow of recent weigh in, I'm now in the lull of knowing there's still lots left to lose!
