Naomi's great, got a bit of a cold at the minute and I think she's teething. She's sleeping 10 hours a night in her cot in her own room, and she's on rice and baby rusk for now, will give her pureed foods and jar foods, powder in a couple weeks time. How's Amelia getting on? x

She's nearly 14 weeks, I give her rice or rusk when she gets up, she cries when its gone everytime lol. Then she'll get the other midafternoon/teatime. I don't give it too late and I usually make sure she's had a dirty nappy first so I know she's not bunged up x

Amelia was 15 weeks yday, I tried her with a little bit of baby rice on her second feed today and she loved it, I only gave her like 3 spoonfuls and then the rest of her milk, was worried about how much to give her. How much do u think ?

I started with Naomi by giving her one soonful, made up quite sloppy just so her body can get used to it. Now she has two spoons made up thickish. Just give her a little bit more each time and as long as she is still going to the toilet properly she should be fine x

Hi girls, that a bad week with Amelia. She hasn't been very settled at all, after her last feed wen I norm put her to bed she norm goes down great and all week she has played up as soon as out her down, last night was the first time she went down ok at 10.30 and she woke at 3, she hasn't woke through the night for over hour weeks now.
She has four teeth coming through so she in pain too and I took her doctors 3 weeks ago as she had really sticky eye and doc gave me antibiotic cream to use for a week, it cleared up and has now come back worse

Sorry if it sounds like I'm constant moaning, I'm not it's jus I norm got a lil happy girl and she been upset all week feel dead tight

It's prob just her teeth hun, you know yourself stuff like that tends to feel worse at a night time, I hope she settles soon for you, you might need to take her back for her eye then x

Is it norm for a four month old to breathe really heavy when going to sleep ?
After Amelia's last bottle I keep putting her down and she seems to be breathing really heavy and it worrying me

Hi, sorry to but in but are you weaning at 14 weeks? Just interested as my lo has intolerance problems and failure to thrive and is being weaned at 17.5 weeks under a specialist paediatrician and dietician... We were told this was the absolute earliest due to babies not developing the enzyme which can digest anything other than milk until then? Did your HV encourage or suggest this?

My hv and my doctor have supported this, both advise the guidelines are now 6 months but they both also advise each baby is different and have stressed that I am not doing any harm, and they are both very happy with her progress and have agreed she is ready for weaning, infact I have had two hv with the same advice. My son was exactly the same and never had any problems. My hv said she has a few mum's that have had to wean early, she was in no way encouraging it but was very supportive and also mentioned this enzyme but said I wasn't putting her in danger and she talked me through the weaning process to ensure I did it the safest way

Interesting, my PCT insist if its nessecery to early wean early it's done so under a dietician as not to harm their stomachs as early weanig is linked to digestive disorders, intolerances and obesity in adulthood. So I'm shocked they haven't referred you to a specialist dietician really, especially as its extremely rare for HV or GP to suggest to wean before 17.5 weeks as it is directly contravening NHS guidelines and considered dangerous and harmful. Scientific research shows they are unable to digest food before 17.5 weeks, so that isn't different for child to child like the developmental stuff such as swallowing, sitting etc, but each to their own.

Hey hun how's Amelia doing now?

There's a lot of ladies on here weaning early, I don't think judgement and accusations are needed here

Amelia is good but she still got sticky eye, I have been bathing it with cooled boiled water and goin docs we'd for her last needles so will talk to them then. Got h. V Comin tomorrow for four month check up so will speak to her about the heavy breathing.
Amelia been sleeping aroundd 11-7 or 12-8 however Is she too young to try and move her times earlier?

I don't see why not hun. Naomi started to go to bed at 2, then as she slept longer she got earlier, she now goes to bed about 10 and sleeps 9-12 hours a night and has done since about 4 weeks. Amelia will just keep amending her routine but yeah if you try earlier you might be surprised she might sleep longer. There's no reason why you can't try putting her down earlier. My hv says were really lucky cos most babies at this age still wake every 3-4 hours x

Amelia slept 12-7.15 last night. She tends to go 8 hours from her last feed as I fed her at 11. I am thinking of trying to put her down earlier but gotta feeling she will wake through night. She has around 30oz a day now which will mean if I put her down earlier I will have to try squeeze another feed in before bed. She has started having hungry milk on first and last feed and normal inbetween.
