Cheekychinchilla's food and stuff

I've been resting all day, they only gave my morphine when I first came out of theatre, I'm just on paracetamol and dihydrocodeine so no funny visions lol.

You're doing the right thing for Ralph I think sometimes people keeping their pets going too long because they don't want to let go, but what's best for the pet is what really matters. Don't get me wrong if there's something that can be done I'd do it but I wouldn't want to put any animal through any unnecessary suffering. I'm glad he had a nice day having his favourites things and playing out, it's nice to get a lovely picture of them together as well.

That's really awful for your friend, their scoring system is stupid, they've declared Ian fit to work in the past when he couldn't even walk or bend down??? I hope she can get some help from somewhere, we had to get a solicitor involved before they over turned it.

Sorry they couldn't help you with the payments but it was worth a try and like you said the piece of mind you'll have without having to worry about extra costs will be worth it.

That's not a bad gain at all considering you had a naughty weekend, sounds like your body is behaving itself for once :)

Good luck for tomorrow, I'm sure you'll pass with flying colours x x x

Ralphy has gone to heaven. My friend agreed it was the kindest thing to do and that I was doing the right thing. Got lots of hugs off everyone in work. I almost managed to hold it together but did have a bit of a cry. Actually hit me more putting it on FB! It's the Watership Down quote!

I did the practical assessments for admitting a dog and a cat to the hospital. I was with one of the vets I was really comfortable with so it went quite well. I actually did 2 dogs and a cat lol.
No time for the exam though with everything going on and obviously having to sort Ralph. Will do it tomorrow.

Had a week incident with a cat. It leaped backwards out of the kennel I was putting it in. Like launched itself backwards, landed on my arm, and jumped off again  It took me 3 goes to get him in that kennel!! Have never seen a cat react the way he did, absolutely bizarre! And I have a scratched up arm to show for it.

I got bribed in to staying for the whole staff meeting as it was our new head vets first one. I was bribed with being paid over time ;)
Us VCA's had a mini-meeting by ourselves afterwards as there's lots of stuff going on that affects us and we're quite worried. So we wrote it all down and we're going to try and arrange a sit down with the management. Everyone gets edgy when the VCA's get together ;) Think of it as peasants revolting :p

I managed to avoid the biscuits and doughnuts at the meeting - they always like to feed us when stuff's going on!!
But I stopped at the shop on the way home and bought a big bag of very naughty crisps and I actually made tuna butties!! I found some eco/welfare friendly tuna that fits in with my food-animal welfare requirements. It's pole caught, dolphin friendly, from a sustainable source, etc... OMG tuna is awesome ;) Had tuna, extra light mayo, and red pepper with a bit of cheese. And my naughty, naughty crisps. I'm trying not to make today a complete write-off, but it's not looking good. I shouldn't comfort eat, I know, and I've been lucky with a small gain and not loads, but I just feel so sad :(

I will really miss that rabbit. And I know this might sound awful, but I don't get super sad about the small animals going usually. But there was most definitely something special about him. Such a wonderful personality and a cheeky character and he really was quite dog-like. I'm just glad he's at peace now and I hopefully didn't let him get ill enough to suffer. I will seriously miss him tho

RIP Ralph, sending you big hugs x x x I'm a big softie, I get attached to all my animals and blubber like a baby when they die.
That picture is beautiful, he was such a lovely colour.
You get some wild cats don't you? I hope the little tyke didn't scratch you too bad. The meeting sounds interesting, are the changes good or bad?
I do miss tuna and fish, never missed meat at all so you tuna butty sounds great :) well done for stay on track and giving in to the doughnuts.
I hope you have a quiet afternoon so you can mourn and remember all the good times you had with Ralph x x x

Really sorry that you had to make that hard decision :(
I just had been having a bit of a crying fit thinking about losing Little One and to read about Ralph's probable tumour and how you gave him his last day in the run made me tear up all over again... So sad :( but you're right- it's a much nicer way to go than suffering and I think it's crazy that humans dont get that option.

Thinking of you babe. *HUG* x

Hey guys!
Tetris I'm so happy to see you :) Thank you for taking the time to come and visit while you're on your adventure. That's lovely of you!
I wanted to give Ralph a lovely last day with his wife. Yesterday was difficult, but I'm glad I gave him that. And yes, I completely agree that I wish humans had this option too.
I'm so sorry about Little One. It's so unfair :( Bloody animals eh?!

I'm going to sound like a heartless wench right now, but I think I've managed to build up a bit of a barrier with my small furries. I've taken in so many strays and they're so hit and miss with their health, and I've had a lot of them in my life. And as I've said before, which is also quite heartless sounding, small furries (particularly rabbits) are generally either alive or dead. They're SO good at hiding being sick because of them being prey animals that it's very difficult to spot a problem before it gets too late. I'm glad I could see that Ralph was getting worse and that I didn't just find him dead one day.
He may not have had a tumour, there are so many possibilities with small furries. But it seems the most likely problem. Laura couldn't feel an obvious mass, but it could have been anywhere.
I actually feel a bit "lighter" now that I know he's ok. Really sad, but I know it was the right thing to do :)

So I've eaten a lot of crisps, had a Costa, and eaten a rather large amount of Revels. No excuses, just genuine comfort eating really. Tomorrow is another day.
Thank you for the messages guys.xx

Determined to have a low syn day today!! I'm in work till 8 and gonna stop at Sainsbury's for a few bits and some petrol.
Had veggie breaky for lunch and have defrosted a portion of bolognese to have with pasta and salad tonight :)

Just doing some revision before I leave for work. xx

I'm so angry and stressed out!!! Had some clients proper kick off and have a go at me because they'd been waiting for meds for a while. Probably over half an hour. I was on my break, the only vet left was consulting, and we're the only staff who are left at that time. When I came back I had the phone, which didn't stop, and there was a queue of people waiting to book in, and also the people waiting for the meds.
I know they had to wait a bit, but how long would you wait for meds at a hospital A&E?! Ungrateful b*stards!! So sick of the abuse we get trying to do a good job!

Also had a really upsetting phone call on the emergency line :(

Meh!!

Someone has sent me a pic of a beautiful boy bunny needing a wife to live with. He's really handsome! So might get in touch and see whether I can take him on for Anya. I know it's a bit soon, but single neutered boy bunnies are pretty difficult to come by! Plus, Anya shouldn't be alone because I'm sad about Ralph.
Ralph's ashes came back today but my work friend sent them back as they'd spelt his name wrong - Ralf - To be honest it didn't bother me at all, but he'd been sent back by the time I got in. Should have him back tomorrow! Bless her tho lol.

Just had my tea and gonna do a snack. Think I need to go to bed soon. I've had an awful sickly pressure headache all afternoon. It's making me all blurry and dizzy and feel awful.

Oh I did get to do my exams today. I bit the bullet and did both of them. Hopefully they'll be marked quickly. Now to revise for the others!! xx

ETA: I had my low syn, on plan day. 1.5 HexA's, 2 HexB's, and 4.5 syns :)

Potential new bunny

HardyBunny.jpg

Waiting to hear from the lady who's fostering him at the moment :)

I also got an email from the Skoda guy and my car is built and waiting to leave the factory :D I'm going in on Wednesday to sign the finance and stuff!!

Food today was on plan until I had a beer and way too many biscuits :( Work was stressful again this evening. I didn't get shouted at by clients, but we had an awful bad run of really horrible emergencies. So sad!

Sorry you had such a cr@ppy day yesterday and today, I can sympathise with you, the general public can be obnoxious, inpatient and down right rude at times and they don't always appreciate what you do :(
Anya's potential new fella is handsome, I like the markings on his face :)
That's good news about your car, that was really quick, ours is just waiting for parts and bernard will be back on the road :D x x x

Hey!

That bunny is a handsome devil isn't he?! And a proper sized rabbit as far as I know ;) Still not heard anything from the rescue/foster person. Hope I haven't earned a bad reputation for rabbits dying :(
Oh I got Ralph's ashes back yesterday. Still spelled "Ralf" Oh well, you gotta laugh haven't you?! I really don't mind :) It's a nice little casket! But I think I'll be setting Ralph and Charlie free soon. They deserve to be back out there in the universe.

Dude I know you appreciate just how ass-hat like the general public can be!! Why do they do it to us?! Why do people just seem to like to make a fuss and cause trouble and make a scene?! I just hate that these people feel the need to shout and swear at us, threaten us, spit at us. FFS we're offering a really important service, saving their animal's lives, asking for nothing in return, and they treat us like this?! We never understand why this happens!! I mean I can understand the long waiting times for their pets to be seen, especially the really sick ones, coz you would be worried and get angry at being made to wait. But usually the issues we have are from people waiting to pick up animals we've fixed or waiting for meds.
To me, waiting 30mins for some medication isn't the end of the world and it didn't deserve the reaction it got. Grrrrr!!

Anyway, even if I do say so myself, I did an excellent job yesterday evening. I handled the phone really well, helped the vet out by making my own decision about appointments (we're NOT supposed to do that, but we were rammed and the vet I had with me appreciated it), I triaged animals in the waiting room and got the actual emergencies straight in to rooms for a vet or nurse or carried them through to prep.
We had this poor lady who's cat had probably been hit by a car. She took him to a local vet (she lives on the Wirral) and they turned her away because she couldn't afford to pay up front!! They offered no emergency treatment, didn't even triage the cat, and sent her away!!! It probably took her 30mins to get to me, which is a long time to transport a very injured animal. I took him straight thru to the vet and she assessed him. He was dying and there was nothing we could do. She was FURIOUS at the other vets for turning them away and is reporting them to the RCVS. It is a legal requirement that all vets have to treat animals in an emergency, even if that means putting them to sleep. He was not fit to travel and that poor lady :( She's told the owner to report them and it's written in the cats clinical notes as well.
Absolute b@stards!!!

Ahem, anyway, I felt quite good about myself yesterday. I was knackered and it was quite sad with all these actual dying emergencies. Summer at a vets is all RTA's, dog attacks, and Parvo! Loads of kennel cough at the moment too because everyone's out with their dogs!

Very glad Bernard can be fixed!! Yay :D

The guy did say I should have the car 4 weeks after putting the order in. When I go in on Wednesday to sign the finance that's 3 weeks. It is very quick isn't it?! Was just lucky that the car I wanted was scheduled to be built and no one had claimed him. It's so exciting!! I'm all nerves and everything lol. Good ones though, not like last time.
Near-future me is going to have to sort out insurance and the break down cover soon. Just need an actual date!

Off to the theatre tonight to see Spring Awakening. I've ended up with the ticket because one of Rachelle's friends can't go. I'm intrigued and think it should be good. It's an up to date version of the play.
We're going for tea at The Egg before. I'm driving in as far as I know. Having someone new in the car makes me go "Eeeek" lol.xx

Hi Cheeky,

SO sorry to hear about Ralph, glad you're handling it OK. Don't worry about the comfort eating, it was very small scale and understandable!

That is so exciting about the car!! I bet you can't wait :D. Imagine what it'll feel like having someone new in your new car!

In my line of work I can also empathise with people being very disagreeable - especially the French! I'll never understand it and can only hope to learn to handle it better.

xx

Hey guys!
Hope everyone is ok :)

I actually had a good weekend. I know ;) Me, my Sister, and her friend went to see Spring Awakening at Liverpool Playhouse. It wasn't a musical, like we were expecting, but we really enjoyed it. A very new, upto date version of the play/book. So sad in places and absolutely hilarious in others. There were a few, erm, "self pleasure" scenes and the man sitting behind us was hilarious. He started off with huffing and sighing and then at one seen he shifted in his seat and went "Oh ffs!" LOL!! It's about teenagers becoming sexually aware, what was he expecting?!!
We went for tea at The Egg before and I drove us all, but no drinking from any of us. I did really well having someone new in the car too. It's a major anxiety thing for me *blush* But I didn't crash and kill us all, so yay ;)

Sunday I had a quiet day. Was still awake at 5am!! And it was Tim's birthday bbq in the evening. I was taxi again so picked up the ex (Tim's brother), then Rachelle, and then headed to T&C's. We only stayed a few hours and again no drinking from me :) Food was lovely, but in no way SW friendly. They'd only bought white buns, no low cal sauces, crisps, full fat cheese etc lol. And Batman cake ;) A good evening was had, but f*ck I was tired.

Really struggled getting to sleep again last night even though I was so tired. I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been kicked all over!! My head, neck, shoulders, and ribs are SO sore!! My head was sickly painful and my vision was so blurry and swimmy. Had to call in sick at work :( Well, text in sick!! Feel awful about it but I didn't feel safe driving and I really don't think I'd have been any use to anyone today.

I didn't get up till after 2pm in the end. Thankfully got some sleep! But still really disturbed and anxious!

Have finished filling in my disability/PIP form now and I'd re-done the self assessment tests using my answers on the form and I *should* be entitled to at least the lower rate care element. Fingers crossed!! Can't tell you how amazing and helpful it would be for me to get that extra support. It would take away so much of the stress about worrying about having days off work sick or being able to run the car. I've explained I can't really use public transport any more on the form - my car is so important to me now!!
Anyway, will send it off tomorrow. Mum's photocopying my diagnosis letter for me today to attach it. It states that my ME diagnosis is basically without doubt, he's outlined some of the major symptoms, talked about my mental health issues, and also said he's sending me to the ME/CFS therapies clinic. So think it will be a great supportive letter.
Mum's going to write me a short statement too :)
It would be amazing to be entitled to some help, it really would.

Back to SW with a vengeance today. All the silly excuses and days and days off need to stop. I can still have the odd meal or day off plan but I really must stop it rolling in to extra days and weeks. It's getting a bit daft now!
I don't have much in the way of plans this week, nothing food related anyway! And I'm working this weekend and bank holiday Monday. So as long as I plan and buy yummy food for my shifts it should keep me on track. I would like to save some syns towards some wine for after my super long weekend tho ;) But SAVE syns and not just think "What the hell!"

Finally got my working tax credit forms through and I can't get on the thing we have to access for work. We don't get physical payslips any more so we have to use this site which you can never get on!!! I called IT and he's reset my password, but it still wont work! I need to get in to it to see my P60 for last years earnings or I wont get the right amount of tax credits. It's so frustrating!! And it's a bloody stupid idea ;)

Right, think I'll go get a shower. See if that helps me feel a bit more human.

Oh, the bunny has been reserved for me. Just need to sort out a home-check and the lady wants to meet Anya too. Exciting!!xx

Hey Sophie!
You must have posted as I did. How are you doing? Lovely to see you :)

I do still feel really sad about Ralph. He was a good lad. Just glad I made the decision, in a way, he didn't deserve to end up suffering. Just sad :(

Having someone new in my car??? Have I missed something? Who's getting in my car?! lol

I'm just sick of clients giving us grief. The verbal and physical abuse we put up with is beyond belief!! I've been threatened a number of times and one of the girls has been spat on numerous times!! Honestly makes you feel super safe and like you're doing a good job
The general public are horrible though aren't they?! Lol!! And those few ass-hats ruin it for the lovely people we deal with. Don't you think?? I always think, would they want to be treated the way they've just treated me?!! Eejits ;) xx

I totally get what you mean!

The organisation I work for has an Equal Opportunity & Diversity policy which we advertise liberally on our premises. We also supported IDAHOT (International Day against homophobia & transphobia) this Saturday which meant we flew the rainbow flag. Our stance is that no-one should live in fear of violence because of who they are but some people really misconstrued it! I had to ask the security guards to escort one 'gentleman' off the premises when he started shouting 'long live Putin, death to all gays and blacks'. I mean, seriously! This is the 21st Century! How can people be so small minded?

Sorry for going off on a rant on your diary! Just to say that I am 100% with you!x

People's behaviour is just disgusting at times. Makes me wonder how they've gotten by in life for so long. Actually, probably shouting at people until they get their own bloody way ;)
That's really cool of your work though to so openly advertise diversity and such :)

Oh I see what you mean about the car. It'll be even scarier having someone new in the new car lol! It'll take me a while to get used to it and I'm so overly critical of myself over things like driving. It's silly, I know *blush*

Just had a shower and now have a very sore ear. I was drying my ears with a cotton bud (I know, before anyone tells me off!) and had a muscle spasm/twitch and nearly poked my brain out! It's a bit sore!! Hope I haven't perforated the ear drum *special person*

Your weekend sounds brill, so glad it was a good one for you, just what you needed after last week. But I'm to hear you're poorly today, it would nice for once if you could a great time without having to pay for it the next day.
Fingers crossed they will give you something, any money would a help and it would stand you in good stead should you need to up the support you'd get from them in the future.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself about your food, it's not easy sticking to plans when things go wrong or you're feeling ill and even harder when people put yummy naughty food under your nose ha ha ha ha ha.
What annoys me about horrible people is they spoil it for everyone else, we'll have up to 400 people in functions and then you get one or 2 who are idiots, start fighting so then we have to close everything down and spoiling the night :( In my job I'm pretty much the security at night, we have us, the night staff or call the police. I've been hit more times than soft mick and sometimes you can't see it coming especially with drunks :(
Sophie, the organisation you work for sounds ace, my middle son is Bi and has had several boyfriends and my daughter has only ever had girlfriends so as a parent I know how horrible people are. I don't understand why I this day and age people have to be so bigoted, they should accept everyone for who they are and not what they are it really annoys me. I was so lucky that both my kids felt comfortable enough to come to me and tell me straight away so I could support them.
So glad you have the bunny boy reserved and I hope Anya impresses so you can have him.
The cotton bud incident sounds ouchy :( I have to admit I use them, especially in the ear I wear my hearing aid.

I hope you have a great evening and you start to feel a little better x x x
