Chinese curry (restaurant) SYNS?

#1
Hello
I am going out for a chinese on Saturday night and am determined to stick to EE plan! I am thinking of having:

Hot and Sour soup - 5.5 syns
Boiled rice - free (it also says egg fried rice is free on EE - is this right??)
Chinese curry - I think this should be a good choice as it's mainly chicken, veg and a non-greasy curry sauce. Does anyone know the approx syn count?

Thanks for your help. Jane x

Sorry, I can't find the syns for the curry, but boiled rice is free and a good choice. I don't know where you saw that egg fried rice is free on EE. According to the website

The above is syns for re-creating a Chinese meal at home, not takeaway or sit-in :) xx

Edit to say, personally the curry would be last on my list, the amount of oil used in curry is huge! I would pick a chow mein or something with a light soy sauce type with boiled rice xx

Hi Stefanie, it was in the section 'Eating Out - Chinese' so all very confusing! I didn't realise there was a lot of oil used to make the curry. I will keep looking through until I find something acceptable - I think Beef in mushrooms looks like a good choice. I like the spicy ones like Beef or chicken Schezwan (sp?) so will look in to that. I will go through the other threads on the site and have a good look on the syns calculator. Thanks for your help xx

Beef in Black bean sauce is one of your best bets at 5.5, or beef in mushrooms 4.5 - personally think thats a little boring though with boiled rice. Chow meins are about 6.5-8.5 sorry this is off the top of my head!!

I normally have chicken or beef in black bean sauce, and boiled rice, and it's lovely, only 5.5 syns for a 340g portion blackbean, mmmm nice!
