Drinks we are "allowed"

Hi Coley,

I haven't ever given anyone negative rep points so it wasn't me. I really don't know why you have got them for this post.

This is a debate that has gone on in more than one forum and unless it is really clarified and spelt out by CD it will continue.

It is too loose at the moment and open to abuse. Even if the zero cal drinks are allowed they are not there to replace the water that is a very important part. We are after all giving our bodies really good nutrition and detoxing from all the bad stuff we have consumed, the fizzy drinks are chemicals - do we really need them?

On occasion if a desire to eat is so strong and a glass of one of these drinks will help then that must be the best option.

Linda

thanks for that coley-will steer clear of it if i can....but what is the savoury drink...havent been shown that yet?

Ok, not sure why I'm getting negative rep points for this!:(

I'm shocked:eek: It was such a good point to bring up and one I wanted to know more about having had this type of discussion brought up on the pink site.

It certainly wasn't me giving you neg Nicole. I'm really pleased you started this thread!

I know chaps.......I'm a sensitive wee soul!! It was at some random time in the morning.......4.58am or something! Someone was probably drunk! Not me for a change.......;)

I'm confused why I'm being told one thing by Cambridge people when the official line says otherwise!!

isn't it better that someone has a little of what they fancy rather than giving up completley? They say you should not have the muffin, but most people i know on the diet have, it's not knocked them out of ketosis and not made them hungry. Surly it is down to the individual? I think people may have been a bit harsh on Coley, but we all need to know these things. Thank Coley for starting the thread off! I only have water and the flavourings, been really good, I have not had the muffin either and my loss is slow. It must be down to individual metabilisem

Coley hun, defo wasnt me giving you negative rep either. As I said in my first post on this thread, I do think its useful.

Am very confuzzled now, cos I just checked and I couldnt give negative rep even if I wanted to!

Hi,

I know some people can get away with this but just an example I had one particular customer losing 7 or 8 lbs per week every week then suddenly his weight loss changed to 3lb one week 2lb next and he was complaining of feeling hungry.

I asked if he had eaten anything, no was the answer was he drinking enough water? Oh he said I am now drinking more than ever I am having perfectly clear and coke zero. I advised him to return to plain water and the following week he lost 8lb. He went on to lost 9 stones and never felt hungry once.

So I know we are told you can have certain drinks once ketosis is established, this is fairly new, I really never advise any of my clients to do this, the above example is just one of many I can quote.

We have all been told we can 'cook' one muffin a day yet as I am sure you are aware Coley last week at training the new counsellors were told they could not do this.

I prefer to stick to the tried and tested methods and the results being achieved by my customers are excellent, the only time we seem to have problems is when 'extras' are added.

Everyone is different and only you will find out if you are one of the lucky ones who can get away with this.

End of lecture now.......................

Oh my goodness. I was out at a party last night and was drinking diet coke. Not even coke zero! I was pleased with myself cause I avoided the peanuts and when the birthday cake was handed round I muttered something like.'I'm not fond of sponge cake' Even though I'd have killed for a piece! And people treat you like you're real party poopers if you don't have a drink...so I had diet coke rather than water. Actually I did have a couple of pints of water later in the night too. I sometimes do have a glass of coke zero as well as my water, but I don't drink that much of it. Is my weight loss going to be low this week??? I'm on 790.

Talking of drinks too...How important is it that I take the milk allowed on 790....I didn't have it before I started the diet and I'm not having it now apart from having an occasional yoghurt in its place. I would struggle to drink the milk. It makes me feel sick.

Any advice appreciated.

Tx

Try not to worry about the DC hun, thing is, you cant do anything about it now anyway. Some people will be ok and you may well be one of the lucky ones.

As for the milk, all I can say is that the rules of all the plans are there for a reason and if it says you need the milk, then you need it. I'm sure Linda or Nick or Coley will be along to clarify anyway. I think people in the past MAY have substituted fromage frais for milk but am not 100% certain.

Cant you just have it in your tea or coffee?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I take my coffee black. I did this before CD anyway. Plus I only have 1 coffee at the most a day. I'm just wondering what effects not having milk will have. I'm losing weight which is great but do you think that its something to do with the balance of nutrition? Its just confusing as I thought the packs were supposed to have all the nutrients required in a day...I'm not trying to be awkward but if I can get away without having milk ie for it not to affect my health or my weight loss, then I'd rather not have it. On the other hand if I know the reason for having to have it and its a good one then I WILL try...:)

Thanks

If you can do without, then great. Well done to you. Some of us find it difficult.

Obviously best to do without, but if it gets you through then you should have it!

negative rep points? Thought we couldnt do that anymore??

Hi Coley,

It is impossible for anybody to give negative reputation points on MiniMins we decided to disable that feature for all users due to the last incident that happened on MiniMins regarding reputation points.

I have looked up all reputation points given to you, and I cannot find a single negative comment made within a reputation points that you have received. Seeing that you were quick to accuse our moderation wrongly and unjustifiably we the Administration feel you need to make a public apology on this thread, as we take any accusation very seriously against our staff members.

Regards,
Pierce

Well Pierce, it appears that what I thought was a negative was just rep from someone with no reputation points...thats all. My mistake.

I am not going to apologise on here, if any mods feel I have offended them personally please PM me and I will personally apologise.

Personally, I don't feel I said anything horrible or offensive, if you feel upset about this and want a personal apology, I will happily give it to you.

Hia everyone,

I've been following this thread with interest.

With LL it is very clear - drink about 4 litres of water every day (you can flavour it with LL water flavours). Black tea or coffee on top of that (or certain herbal teas). No other drinks allowed. No lemon in water.

I just drink sparkling water when socialising. I didn't care if anyone was 'upset' about the fact that I wasn't drinking alcohol any more and didn't feel under pressure to 'conform'. I'm not doing that any more.

Hia everyone,

I wouldn't let anyone influence me into drinking alcohol I didn't want anyway. I don't feel under pressure either, but it WAS a party and my way of coping was to have a diet coke. I actually think I'm doing really well and I think you have to do what you have to do in order to be able to do this long term. I don't actually think that it's a crime to adapt things slightly as long as you are losing weight and not harming your health. I think its about finding what works for you. Personally speaking, I've tried every diet under the sun and this is the 1st one that has worked for me.....I'm sticking with what I'm doing...I need my little coping strategies though. Obviously if what I was doing was hindering my weight loss then I'll not do it again. See what the scales say next weigh in!

Me again, I just want to qualify what I meant by the previous post.

I don't want anybody to think I am criticising what they do on their programme, and I think that I could have explained my reasoning better.

On a couple of the posts I read, I saw evidence of 'crooked thinking', that is, justifying to yourself that eating or drinking something is actually 'ok' because ...

... you don't want to offend someone

... people may think you are strange/unfriendly

... you feel embarrassed

... they went to all that trouble to make it

... it will be so boring if you don't

... drinking water is anti-social

... water is boring and tastes horrible

... it won't take me out of ketosis

... I want to feel normal, like everyone else

ETC ...

Do any of these excuses make sense.

I know for me that they all do, because I've thought them at one time or another. Thankfully, because I am now aware of these thoughts which are always there waiting to pounce and take advantage of any weakness of mine, I usually see them coming and head them of (at the pass)!

These insideous 'crooked thoughts' are the reason that I have consistantly failed when doing conventional diets in the past. A little bit of this, a bit of that ... before you know it you've unleashed a binge!

That is why I liked LL so much, 100 days of not putting myself under pressure, and at the same time learning about how to cope with the pressure when I go back to eating.

I sincerely hope that everyone can find their own way of coping with their programme, but please be honest with yourself at the same time, 'cos you only hurt yourself otherwise.

Hi hun, I know there is a reason for the milk, but have no idea wat it is, after all, there is a reason for all the rules on CD, they are not just there for fun!!

Maybe post a separate thread on the CD forum and ask the question? You will probably be more likely to get a valid scientific response there!!

I don't think you are critising. I don't think anyone can, while I'm losing weight like this.

I think we have all used excuses like that on diets in the past. I'm 100% committed to this diet. I KNOW I will do this time. I think 790 is a bit different to LL too.I have my meal in the evening but even then, I sometimes can't eat all that I'm allowed. It's a strange feeling when a CD soup makes me feel so full I could burst. I do however, have the odd zero coke which is allowed... I wish bars and pubs stocked it actually. It was cause of that that I chose a diet coke.
