It's like a fairystory but it's true.

Our neighbour was anorexic for more than 10 years and after a full year in a special clinic in Barcelona were the patients are never left alone for the first part of the stay and trust is given little by little she eventually came home a year ago .

She was told she would probably never have children as her periods had stopped as her anorexia progressed.

Anyway long story short, she is pregnant. To say that the family are over the moon is an understatement. It was a complete surprise to them.

We are thrilled for them.

What a lovely New Years gift.

Oh thats such a great start to the new year and a fantastic story - but it goes to show what extreme dieting can dowith some girls being anorexic. Most of us try and slim but we should always keep our health in mind.

Fantastic news for your neighbour - i bet she will be a fantastic mum too

you should keep an eye on her..
being pregnant might set her off again..
after all if she starts looking in the mirror and seeing a fast growing bulging tummy it may trigger whatever part of her brain tells her she's overweight..
plus all the crazy that the hormones cause..

That is very, very good advice Dean. Thank you. It had never crossed my mind.

How wonderful, congratulations to the family.

I know someone who also struggled with anorexia as a teen and a number of resulting health problems, including a very high chance that she would never fall pregnant. When she started feeling sick in the mornings a couple of years back, she was in complete denial that it could possibly be due to pregnancy, as she'd pretty much resigned herself to being infertile.

She now has not just one, but two beautiful little boys.

It's shocking to think of the damage people can do to their body with something like anorexia, but also amazing that the human body can fight back so well!

Wishing your neighbour all the best for her pregnancy!
