Liz's CD Diet to Goal

Morning Liz, not seen you around for a few days. Hope all is ok with you xx

Hey everyone, thanks for checking in :)
Have been feeling a bit fed up lately mainly because of my teeth - the appointment with the specialist is on Wed, so hopefully I'll find out more then. Just a stress mainly worried about money, as implants I have since found are around £1000 each :(

I then went away at the weekend to my BF's parents and we had a fair bit of food, but was okay with it. Back to being sensible today. Not sure what's happening with weight, as haven't weighed myself. Am just going to focus on eating things that make me feel healthier and exercising.

Although now have a terrible cold and am off work. Probably go back in tomorrow, but atm I am hot and cold with a fuzzy head!

Hope everyone else is good. Got some time to now catch up on what's been happening with other people.

Glad you are back Liz, we missed you! Big hugs.

Hope you feel better soon hun. Your teeth problem must be so stressful, and painful. Hate it when these type of things happen in life, cause you have no choice but to put yourself in others hands, ....and at such expense! I'd definately persue the negligence issue though. Well done on the focused food head, despite everything xx

Sorry you are feeling poorly Liz, there's lots of horrid bugs doing the rounds at the moment, hope you feel better soon. x :)

Feeling any better today Liz? Hope so... take care hun.

How you feeling Liz, hope it didn't make it into a full blown poorlyness xxx

Thanks everyone. Have pretty much recovered now, although still a bit sniffly, but nothing major!

Went to specialist on Wed about my teeth. Started by telling me it's very rare to see someone so young and likely that there won't be a major problem. Then after the examination he told me it wasn't good news.
I have moderate to severe gum disease. They measure pockets between gums and teeth and several of mine are 7mm which is severe. So it's not good. However, he felt that it was treatable and hoped to save all my teeth.
He said the wobbly ones (there are 3!) are 1's. I asked what out of and he said 3 and nothing to worry about unless they get worse.
I also have a vertical crack which is the worse kind in one tooth that will need drilling out and crowning.

Treatment is called planing and doesn't sound pleasant. They do it in either 4 lots or 2 lots at a time to give you chance to heal. They clean down under the gum basically.

Not looking forward to it. Oh, he also said I'm likely to need all my wisdom teeth out and maybe one at the front because of overcrowding. Anything that can potentially cause roots to twist (overcrowding) could worsen the gum disease, although none are twisted at the moment.

He was a lovely guy, very passionate about teeth! He called my x-ray beautiful (they have a new machine that he was pretty excited about) which made me smile.

He told me I was very good and brave (I had taken a diazapam which is probably why!!!).

I feel safer in his hands, but still very worried about all the treatment as it's not going to be pleasant.

Hiya!

So glad you are getting some proper treatment and although doesn't sound pleasant (or cheap) if it gives you healthy teeth and peace of mind it will be worth it. I know when I finished having all my caps and bridge work done and everything was firm and in place and healthy it felt brilliant.

Pleased to hear that you are feeling better too - so much going on at once! Good to see you here x

Am cringing just reading the work you need doing....don't like dentists!
Hope you get them all sorted out :D x

I think you are good and brave anyway - great dentist!! ;)

Agree with Bess... you are brave, but it will be worth it. So glad this guy knows what he is doing and has been able to reassure you. And hey, you have beautiful x-rays!

Big hugs Liz, it may not be an easy path ahead but you know it will work out OK in the end.

Ouch Liz! You poor thing, you are so brave. (i'm a wimp....i evn hate the de-plaque thing!) Would it work out cheaper to go on a denplan scheme, to spread the cost out a bit? xx

Thanks everyone :)

Sadly with Denplan things like gum disease treatment aren't covered generally. Plus with the state they are in at the moment the amount would be really high.
The dentist did say that if I wanted to look at Denplan then it would be better to wait until after treatment when my teeth are in a much better state and then it will be cheaper.

Hopefully after this treatment, all I will need is a clean every 3 months (recommended for severe gum disease cases, as opposed to 6 months) I have just changed to an NHS dentist, so it shouldn't cost much and then I can just go and see this guy for specialist treatment if ever I need any.

Oh Lizz, sorry about the teeth problems, but you'll be glad once it's sorted and you can go back to regular (quick) checkups!

Btw - I'm sure "you have beautiful X-rays" is dental speak for "you're hot!" :D

Hope you have a good weekend!

I interviewed a dentist last week and he said that Denplan was a complete waste of money
as so much isn't covered.....Just sharing info......

Haha, he was pretty old - I think any thoughts like that would give him cardiac arrest!
