Miss Mac diary - A fresh start!

Just got back from parents evening and it went great. Im so proud of my son and how well he is doing at school :)
Spoke to teachers and no sign of anything important first week in june and all options will be chosen by then so son is happy now. I have told him he needs to use this holiday to relax as much as he can coz he has 2 years of hard work coming after that.
Pleased we got that sorted :)

Well that's something you can relax about. So true that your boy needs to get some me time in before the last 2 years of school. Glad he is doing well in school. Is he quite studious MM.

He hates doing homework but finds most of his school work interesting. I find homework hard too as i dont really agree with it. I think they do enough hours at school without doing more at home, but thats just my opinion.
He tries hard and is generally conscientious . He is worrying a bit at the minute as he doesn't know what he wants to do after school and lots of his friends know exactly what they want to be.
I think school is a bit mixed up in that respect. They choose their options this year but don't get careers advice until next year or year after. I think it would be beneficial before they choose their options incase they need specific subjects, again just my opinion.
I am pleased he takes it serious though.

Oh and i resisted the biscuits at parents evening.....somehow!
They do this amazing chocolate cornflake thing that is to die for. They have been doing them since u was at the school.
They are amazing and they give then away at parents evening and i had to walk right past them:(

With my three we encouraged them to choose options that were quite varied so that they didn't get boxed into a certain types of subject & it has worked well for all of them. They are all doing completely different things in regards to where they work or hope to work.
Its so early to expect youngsters to know what fields they want to work in in the future. I didn't know till I was 22 & that was soon enough really.

Miss M I have had that rash before when doing the diet - I get it between my eyebrows, slap bang in the middle of my forehead, just where everyone can see it. It does go again though, I didn't have it for too long.

There is no one in my family - past or present - remotely medical

......but I knew when I was about 5 years old that I wanted to be a nurse  - always bandaging up my teddy and dolls, and my biggest treat was to get my Dad to drive me past the local hospital in the hope of seeing some of the nurses in their capes!

I have 5 nephews and one niece, and none of them have much clue what they want to do :)

I agree with what you say, my son is 15 and has no idea what he'd like to be. He loves sports so has taken sports science, science but also has an interest in geography but a natural talent in history so is doing both these subjects also... His work experience will be in a gym in may, he's so excited.. I agree about careers advice being given earlier, xxx

Oh really katie.
Was the one on your head a rash or just one solid blemish?
I have rash on my body but just a single purple blemish about size 10p on my cheek.
Did you ever go to the doctors about it?

Yes mine has chosen history, geography, pe and computing.
I think these will keep his options open for later in life hopefully.
It is hard for kids these days and i am pleased that this extended education has been brought in as i don't think they are necessarily ready at 16 to leave school and go out into the big bad world .

I knew from the age of 11 that i wanted to go in the army so i was sorted.
I am doing what you have done and helped him choose generic options like you say so he dont get boxed in.
I hope he figures it out soon but i will be proud of him whatever.

It does seem easier if you have an idea of what you would like to do as it gives you something to work towards.
I hate hospitals so rather you than me ;)
