I thought I would set up this diary for myself in the hope that it will help me keep on the straight and narrow over the coming weeks/months.
Day 1 and 2 have been successful despite being surrounded by beautiful food at a party last night. I would have loved to have tucked in but managed not to. Drank sparkling water.

Day 3 - up early. Had choc shake (hot) at 11.30am and then went to street party. More fabulous food, so hard to resist but resist I did. Not feeling particularly smug, more fed up and down in the dumps. I think it is just me longing for sugar and carbs and thinking long term instead of taking it one day at a time as I promised myself I would.
Roast chicken and the works in the oven for the rest of the family. Smells lovely. Had a bit of a disagreement with my 18 year old son who announced that he "hates" roast's crap and boring. Told him that's grand, don't eat it (managed to refrain from adding "you ungrateful little brat" from the end of the sentence). Lol. He's under exam pressure at the moment and I'm missing my food and feeling emotional, could lead to an explosive situation over the next few days...

That's a lot of temptation to resist in the first few days of this so well done for that. Love roast chicken myself. One of my favourites. Good luck for the rest of your time on Exante.

Thanks Thornhill Cate for the best wishes. How are you finding things yourself? Ever had the turkey dinner? What's it like? I has the shepherds pie last night and it was alright once I didn't look at it. I'm not good with "smooth" food but getting on with it.

I haven't had the turkey dinner or the shepherd's pie although I do have an SP here to try. I have tried the chilli, spag bol and carbonara and although they all have a somewhat weird taste, the spag bol is the only one I wouldn't eat again. Having said that, lots of people like it so this could just be me. I think it's best too to avoid smelling them as that can be pretty off-putting.

Not doing too badly. Just about coping but have had several no carb cheats. It's all detailed on my diary thread. 2nd weigh-in for me tomorrow so hope that bring some good news. I do have to be in this for the long haul to shift what I want to lose to start - 6 stone. Then I'll take a view on whether I want to lose more. I'd ideally like to be 10st but as I'm 52 I don't want to get that gaunt look that can happen when you're older if you get too thin - chance would be fine thing. LOL.

Hi Thornhill cate. I hope you have a great weigh in tomorrow. Look forward to hear how you get on.

i just had the turkey dinner and it really wasn't all that bad. Quite peppery. I love salt so don't find any of the packs too salty. I did like the spaghetti Bol.

i ordered some bars today, so looking forward to trying them.

feel in better form now that I've had something to eat. The family can rest easy for the rest of the night.

Day 4. 12 may 2014. Feeling better today. Just finished 9 holes of golf. Away to have my porridge now.

tempted to weigh myself but will try to hold out til Friday.

what is everyone doing to help the bad breath situation that comes with vcld? When I was on lipotrim a few years ago there were listerine strips that you could melt on your tongue. Not sure if they still exist. Mouthwash wasn't encouraged for some reason.

hope you all have a good day.

8.30pm. Good day. Had porridge at 1.30 pm and pasta carbonara at 6.30. Added too much water so was more like a soup. Need to remember that for next time. Going to have a banana shake before bed and that will be that for today.

hope tomorrow will be as positive.

Welcome to the forum Moonlight. Seems like you are getting into the swing of things so well done on reaching the end of day 4.

I walk around with extra toothpaste at work but can't say that I have found anything that lasts long regarding tackling the ketone breath. I just apologise to people beforehand If I have to get up close to them when talking  x

Hi Susie, that's a good tip re the toothpaste. I found the listerine strips on amazon so might give them a go. My mouth was disgusting this morning so had to brush it and my teeth for a decent taste. Quite hard to brush you tongue without gagging. Still it worked.

day 5 today. Approx only another 22 or 23 weeks and 2 days to go. Sounds like a lifetime but not to worry. One meal at a time.

had the banana pack last night made with hot water. Hit the spot as it was sweet and tasted like banana custard at the start. Bit heavy going by the time I got to the end but I would have it again.

you're doing well with two stone off. That must feel great. I look forward to that day. Might even get to wear a few pieces in my wardrobe. Clothes shopping now is depressing. I feel chunky in everything. I've got into the bad habit of track suits, sweatshirts and runners. So comfy.

I want to be able to wear a pair of denim jeans with a slim fitting plain round necked white tshirt, silver earrings, silver bracelet, and a pair of white canvas shoes (no socks), hair blowing in the wind, not a weight care in the dream.

Day 5 continued. Had my first pack at 3pm ...too late really. Had another at 6pm and due to take another shortly. Hard to know what to take this late. Might try hot choc. Ordered the winter bumper pack at the weekend so should have my first bars tomorrow. Looking forward to trying them.

had a small piece of chicken today. Chewed it and spat it out. Mad stuff. Feel really deprived of food but going to try to keep going. Hoping to lose 4 or 5 pounds. Not sure what I will do if I don't. Probably eat....

anyway enough of that. Need to stay positive and if the weight loss doesn't come this week, it might come the next..

I need to practise what I preach, stay strong.

Hi moonlight. I finally navigated my way around, started a diary post and found yours. How are you finding it so far? I'm pretty much sticking to what I intended and I think the added in exercise is doing a good job of keeping my mood up.
Don't beat yourself up for feeling hungry, it's bound to happen. I was starving last night so i bimbled around the house until I stopped thinking about food :)
Just working myself up to trying the banana shake this morning for breakfast as I still haven't got around to making the biscuits.
    Good luck :)

Well done for resisting. The few first days are the hardest. Good luck with day 6. Almost a week done!

Hi girls, thanks for dropping in. Hi banana boo. You're doing great. First stone gone. Well done.

hi snooty. (Just can't call you snooty cow, feels rude :(). I'll wait til I know you better...

day 6 - my bars arrived today so had choc orange for lunch. Nice bit of crunch. Happy with that.

Ive been cooking all day. My sons last day in secondary school so he had six friends home for lunch, they called it the last supper....sad but happy day really. All those faces I've known for donkey's years are all of a sudden young men heading out into the world. Once they get their exams over them. Hard time for them and their parents.

so I baked brownies, lemon drizzle cakes and choc chip buns and other than the tiniest taste of cake mix, resisted all. Then cooked chicken wings, chips, sausages, burgers and curry sauce. Resisted all, thank heavens. The lads devoured most of it but true to form I cooked too much and it is now sitting downstairs. I might give it in to the neighbours to finish off. Shame to throw it in the bin.

walked the dog and met my friend for coffee. A nice day. Looking forward to sitting down and watching "the good wife" tonight.

does anyone else try to leave their last meal as late in the day as possible? I'm always afraid I'll be hungry if I eat too early.

how did you get on with the banana shake snooty? I had mine hot the other night. Tasted a bit like custard.

Well done on resisting that cake, you have been very good !

I always have my 1st pack as late as possible moonlight, usually around 2-3 pm then I have one at about 7pm & save my last till 9ish to have while watching TV. Evenings are the worst for me where I am likely to think of eating out of habit & so far the late last pack is helping to curb that habit xx

Parcel up the food and give it to your neighbours - and the sooner the better!

Morning all. Remaining food took a bashing last night but not by me.

feeling calm today, day 7. No feelings of deprivation although it is only 8am......

weigh in day tomorrow but in a dilemma as to whether I will or not. Read in some diaries that some people only weigh every two or four weeks. Imagine getting on a scales after 4 weeks and finding you had lost a stone, wouldn't that be fab.

will see how my motivation is tomorrow and take it from there......

have a good day everyone. Speak later.

Morning Moonlight! Sounds like you're having a good few days :)
The banana shake was OK, my least favourite is still the vanilla. I also ordered a box of bars yesterday, can't wait for those to arrive.
I find I tend to try to eat at my usual times, i've always found that if I eat late at night i'm absolutely starving come the morning, I get up before 7 but don't eat until 10am so that's a long time be hungry for me.
Like you though, i'm also not feeling deprived of anything. Feeling pretty good actually but I don't know how i'd cope if I was just having 3 meal replacements and no food?
    Have a great day!

Hi all. Day 8. Had a good day 7. Stayed on track despite being surrounded with scones and muffins. I nearly caved in but managed to get no thank you out of my mouth before my hand reached out. There was a bit of "ah, go on" but no stuck to my guns.

when I look back at my diary, it is amazing how much food is a part of my life. No wonder I am the weight I am. In reality I would probably have had both a scone and a muffin a week ago along with the butter and jam, gone home and had dinner, snacks watching television having had breakfast, lunch and snacks earlier in the day. I must have been putting away thousands of calories and not using many exercising. Trying to up my exercise now with more movement during the day.

ive decided not to weigh myself today. I feel motivated enough to carry on today so will keep my weigh in for another day when things are harder. I'm also afraid of what would happen if I found I only lost 4 or 5 lbs which could be the case. I think I might say to hell with it and eat. So I'll soldier on and hopefully I will have a decent loss when I do weigh.

strawberry shakes still my least favourite to date.

hope you all have a great day. I'm off to clean the house from top to bottom. It badly needs it. Since we got a dog last October I find it hard to keep it clean even though he is only allowed in the kitchen. Still I wouldn't change it. He's part of the family now and has made a huge positive impact on the whole family.

You are so right. If we could just manage to stick to breakfast, lunch and dinner and cut out all the snacking and the high calorie drinks, e.g lattes etc., then I think we'd be amazed at how drastically our calorie intake dropped. Worse still, we don't even snack because we're hungry most of the time, but because it's habitual.

Day 9. Feeling ok. Tempted go weigh but not sure yet so skipped it. Went to sons hurling feile for the day. Once again food everywhere but resisted. Over compensated with coffee and had a headache. Probably not helped by the hot sun which was lovely.

had my porridge at 8.30am and didn't have my pasta carbonara until 6.30pm. Too long. Looking forward to my bar shortly.

hope you're all having a great day.
