Pickled red peppers

I've just had one of those large bell red peppers that's pickled in a jar. I had it in my head pickles were free but am now doubting it There is no nutritional info on the jar - there is sugar in the ingredients though so am presuming I need to syn it. Any ideas?

As long as they are in vinegar or brine and not oil they would be free
