oh god the veggie prawns were grim! I thought they would be a good first go on the way to real ones but they were plain wrong. I need to erase it from my mind and try the real ones. First I need to know how to cook them as I'm clueless

Check the carbs on the brand you like, if it fits enjoy :)

Hi Betty, Yes you can use vinegar (I know this because on the slim and save food list it has gerkins - which are in vinegar) but i wouldn't use balsamic because of the sugar. There's a vinegar called apple cider vinegar which is meant to have health benefits too. I use vinegar, black pepper and dried herbs to give the food sachets more flavour.

As for the smoked fish or yellow fish I've read that white fish is fine but smoked has a high salt contents which can affect/cause water retention, I'm not certain about this so maybe give slim^save a ring to ask.

hope thats helped somewhat.

smoked cod / haddock is fine; I emailed SnS yesterday.

can you have mackerel?, no carbs...

Does the chicken have to be grilled??? or can i steam in in a bag with all my veg( thats what i have been doing anyway) just wanted to check, i have been putting my 100g chicken and veg allowance altogeather in a steam bag them microwaving it, i add a few herbs and pepper xxx

I know that it was previously asked, but no one answered it - steaming a chicken portion in the microwave, is this a chicken portion that is raw, or pre-cooked?

Steaming it is fine - I think they're just making it clear that it shouldn't be deep fried or anything. You can cook raw chicken and veggies in a roasting bag in the oven - haven't tried it in the microwave.

raw will be fine, just make sure it's cooked before eating it! You might need to adjust cooking time or add veg a bit later, depending on your microwave.

So long as it is only the lean meat you can have it only not too often and no crackling allowed.

Is there a list somewhere with all the OK foods?
