From what I've read, if you don't think you would qualify before the baby arrives, wait until it has done. Sort your child tax credits, check on possibly working tax credits then, and then apply for the sure start grant. You can check to see potential child and working tax credits on Benefits Search

yep, it states on my form that if you are unsuccessful you can claim again after the baby is born (up to 3 mths), or wait until after baby is born if you don't yet think you will qualify but will after IYSWIM.
