Susie's 2022 campaign

You'll love this @tipperary - by 10am no sign of the kitchen guys, and then my drains blocked again (water pouring out from the base of the loo, 3rd time in a year). Just as I was panicking about not being able to get hold of my regular plumber, the kitchen guys arrived (Sean is the company owner and his wife got rushed to hospital early this morning - but he briefed them to get round to mine) - and lo and behold one of them is a plumber! So he cleared the drains and fixed one of the reasons why it keeps blocking.

They are back tomorrow, so the kitchen can get properly underway. The electrician also came and will need to do the sockets again because they aren't safe (which I knew) - won't cost much and will be safe, so that's a bonus lol.

Been way off plan today though, just too stressed to think about SW prep. Crashed out for 3 hours this afternoon, and just been for a walk and B&M shop, so am hoping I'll get a few zzz tonight and be raring to go in the morning!

Wow you fell lucky there Susie with that kitchen gang. Hope you enjoyed the walk

Your house sounds like mine. If something goes wrong it is to do with water. We had a leak in our lean to couldn't work out where it was coming from. In the mean time we had a new one built as the old one had asbestos sheets... Same time above the upstairs window was getting wet. Several builders couldn't work it out. One said it needed some sort of tray thing above the window. I argued that wouldn't solve the problem as water is coming in from somewhere and that would just take the water away from it running down the cavity. So in the end another builder said we needed the wall re pointed. So we done that and it has stopped the water coming in. The rain was coming through between the bricks. Still waiting for a radiator with a hole in it to be replaced. My new boiler has been stripped down as I could either have hot water or heating not both. Downstairs basin hot tap washer gave way and tap wouldn't turn off. Kitchen taps wouldn't stop dripping. Just hoping now we don't get any more leaks.

Oh Mary you've been through a right palaver with your house! Glad you finally got to the root of the problem.

I'm happy to report that, while I had a zzz, the guys have powered through the work - leaks fixed, sewage blockage fixed (with a promise that it will never happen again), cupboards taken out and lined up properly and tiling half done. Makes such a difference when you get people in who know what they are doing!

Food today has been terrible, thanks to demolishing three (yes, three) white Kit Kats for lunch. Will have chicken l/o's for dinner, after my last SW Zoom group at 5pm.

Just watched the Friends Reunion trailer and got quite emotional!

Goodness I hope you didn't pay the previous builders, or are collecting evidence to get refunded for all their errors?

Did they do the dangerous wiring or was that pre-existing? if it was them I'd assume that would be reportable to RIDDOR

In any case I'm glad these guys seem much more up to the job. I hope The lady in hospital is ok too.

I did pay them some of the money, but really don't want to go into battle against them to recover it, I hate conflict - but will report them for the wiring, definitely. Plus word of mouth (or in this case FB) works fast up here!

@tipperary it's on YT

This is just the trailer. The full show isn't scheduled for release in the UK yet, but I'm sure someone in the US will upload it from HBO to a pirate site once it's been shown there.

Morning all - another grey day, just waiting for the guys to arrive and crack on. Slept really well but had one of those accident prone mornings - dropping things, breaking other things...was going to go for a drive but maybe I'll hold off LOL.

B - B wholemeal toast, sliced toms and bacon, coffee
L - SW meal plus some veg
D - don't know - maybe soup or my fav smashed potatoes and baked beans
S - as few as possible!

Stay nice and dry!

As usual the day didn't go to plan - the guys were late (but a valid reason) but then cracked on, so it's progressing well. Thx @Mary2020 hoping I can move stuff into the kitchen this weekend woohoo!

Foodwise, not so good - delivered fish and wedges for dinner - BUT it was a small fish, and I only had half! Don't remember the last time I did that - so am taking a percentage of scale victory LOL. Back to weighing at group next Thursday and that'll be a sad day - expect much wailing and tearing out of my hair, because their scales always weigh more than my home ones :D :D. Yet another line in the weight loss sand.

Exciting moving things back into the kitchen. :)

Just take what it says on Thursday then you can go from there. Stop buying the Skinny Bars as we all know how dangerous they are.😀

LOL - they are scrummy that's for sure!

Well things have gone downhill with the house - the fitter is ill after his jab, but might also be positive (long story) and he's been in the same room as me - with a cold and without a mask - so I'm going to self isolate for 10 days, especvially as we've now got surge breakouts up this way. No idea when we will be back on track for the kitchen, but it also caused problems today for the electrician, who needs the fitter and his mate to move a huge cupboard before he can do his bit. We tried our best to get it out but it wasn't budging. Just waiting to hear from the boss, so we can sort it all out.

Then the gardener texted to say he can't do the garden because it's got Mare's Tail in it a nasty invasive weed which needs clearing up by a specialist firm.

Brilliant....not.

I was seconds away from ordering pizza - but somehow I stopped myself from pressing the Buy It Now key and cooked 5% burgers and SW chips instead. Not the healthiest meal in history, but much better than pizza.

I have Mare's tail in my garden I just keep pulling it up and it's getting less and less.

Oh no to the kitchen. :( Well done for not pushing that buy now button.:)

The plumber was suppose to come this morning to replace the radiator with a hole in it. He didn't come so I am now seeking legal advice. It will cost me £50 but she has said she will put in a claim off him for it.

oh noooo. Lots of people felt really ill after the vaccine so hopefully it's just that and a normal cold but you're right to take care. You should hear in a couple of days if he tests positive though so you may not need to isolate the full 10 days.

I'd not heard of Mares tail so I had to google it. There are some articles online about how to control it but I'm no gardener so I'm not about to advise!

You've done an amazing job over the past while, coping with everything that happens, and still mostly managing to stay on track. In a couple of months this will all be a memory, your kitchen will be lovely and hopefully garden at least in progress.

This too shall pass.

The symptoms that people suffer are that of flu symptoms. Chills, temperatures and achy. You generally feel rubbish. But the younger you are the more likely you are to experience these symptoms. It is because the younger person is their immune system is very active, but the older you are you immune systems is not quite so active. My mum who is 81 no symptoms after vaccine. My hubby is 61 and I am 56 we experienced nothing. My sister who is 5 years younger actually(born on same day just 5 years apart.) So had side effects of flu like symptoms and retired to bed. She has yet to have part two of vaccine and so don't know if she will be poorly this time round. I hope you are one of the lucky ones and are symptom free.

We've some mare's tail. Most gardeners don't care and do what they can. So I think his reaction is wierd!

We just cut it down repeatedly. We do use poison in our garden - on dock, creeping thistle and I use it on bramble (Mr AG digs out bramble). I don't use it on mare's tail because you have to use a lot repeatedly. Cutting it down seems to reduce it's vigour.

A good mantra to keep saying, Chilli! I do feel a bit down right now - I've left text and DM messages for the boss, with no response, but I just have to keep thinking positively and not focus on bad thoughts about them absconding with more of my dwindling cash - because he asked for part payment for wages for the guys yesterday, and I paid it.

I'm no gardener, and too lazy/unable to regularly be pulling it out TBH - but I'll see what the specialist guy says. It's only a very small garden, 20ft x 30ft maybe - and the goldfinches seem to like it LOL.

Had more burger and chips for tea, couldn't face cooking anything more interesting and have got past the Just Eat temptation for today :D.

My plumber never turned up so I posted in a local FB group asking if anyone knows when CAB is open or a legal person who could help me with claiming back the radiator money. This afternoon plumber messaged me to say he would be over tomorrow. I told him it would have to be 8am as I'm going out at 9am and it would only take him 30 mins. He wants to drain the whole system. I told him he doesn't need to do that for one radiator so we had a bit of a ding dong. He is dropping the radiator off and I will get the plumber who corrected his mistake to connect it.
