Tough love - off topic and chit-chat

I lost a pound since Monday WOOO I got weighed today at boots cos I fecking hate Monday weigh ins, I like weighing in on a Friday as it gives me a moral boost to be good on a weekend if I've lost or a reason to try harder if I have gained. 10.11 now :D I'll be 10.9 by
Next Friday

Awesome work Lou! Well done you! Keep it up! :D

Took my little girl to a local park n look wat i found :) a gym outside so i cud exercise y watchin meg play :)

They have this all over Korea i.e. up mountains. I've never used them because the old Korean people who do frighten me but I think they're an awesome idea!

In good news, my beach trip and lunch were fine. I made a delicious pasta salad and took enough for my friend and I! No temptations.

However, it bad news I got ridiculously sunburned and have very sore legs and then my brand new sunglasses broke and the HUMIDITY and it put me in a really bad mood last night. One of those situations where lots of silly little things put you in a bad mood. I can't tell you how badly I wanted to reach for the chocolate but I went out for dinner, chose from the menu mindfully and didn't drink. I was home and all tucked up in bed by 12.30am. It was reading everything in the other thread that kept me on track so thank you guys- it reminded me that no matter my bad mood, food won't fix it.

I'm still feeling in a bit of a grump this morning but I'm going to do some tidying up and do some exercise and hope that'll put me into a better frame of mind. I'll be writing the letter to myself and sharing my Before and After picture in the other thread later!

Oh and Rod, I had a loss on Monday too and I haven't had a major wobble this week so :p

In random question, I am starting to feel a bit of judgement from a couple of my friends for not drinking at the moment. I would just really prefer to use my cals for food and I tried to explain this to my friend and it was met with a 'Hmmm'. Drinking was something I wasn't really enjoying for a few months before I started Calorie Counting so I'm honestly not missing it that much, I just hate the implication that I can't have fun or that I'm somehow boring without it. For the record, I came home early last night because my sunburn sucked and I wanted to get the bus home rather than a taxi not because of not drinking. Any other way I could explain it to my friends so that they understand why I'm doing this? Oh and for the record, I'm not, not drinking ever again, just saving it for special occasions :)

Weighed in this morning and im 207lbs  happy that iv lost 6lbs now in the 3 weeks iv been cal counting. Still a long way to go tho so wont congratulate myself to much! Have a good day

thanks hun, well done on the resistance that took some serious will power!!

on the drinking thing, i just cant let it go, i know if i did id be at target now but i love a drink, i dont drink all the time, on average once a week, sometimes less sometimes more, i try to stick to vodka lime and soda and im not drinking wine like i used to, in the past ive said to my friends about not drinking and tbh theyre pretty good, but i always end up having a drink so ive stopped saying it lol. if you dont enjoy it then just say that your not drinking cos you feel too ill the next day, you dont enjoy it as much as you used to and that your weight is top priority right now, if they have an issue with it it their issue, drink is like a drug...people who are drinking like everyone else to be drinking too....maybe its cos they feel threatened by people who dont drink or maybe worried that theyll do something daft and if there is a sober person there they are sure to remember. not drinking is seen as 'good' and i thiink this is the under current behind a lot of it, people who drink perhaps feel a bit inferior to those who can go out and have a good time without it...i know i do, i wish i could say no but i just love it so much hahaha, i like being tipsy, but thats my choice as an adult, and its your choice as an adult too..the next time they roll their eyes or seem off with you for not drinking just confront it ask why it makes them so uncomfortable that your not drinking, or better still just dont make an issue of it, dont tell them your not drinking just dont drink, if they ask then say no but dont explain just say it blase like its nothing, cos it isnt a big deal and sometimes i think we expect it to be a big deal so feel we have to explain our selves or go on about it and notice little things about other peoples reactions that maybe arent there, if you act like its no big deal and stop mentioning it im sure they will relax about it too xx

Thanks Lou, that's some good advice. If they are weird about it again, I'll have a word with them but try not to make a big deal out of it until then :)

Posted my loss into the other thread (1lb off :)). How fab was the opening ceremony - apart from that tit Paul "Hey Jude" McCartney! Was proper proud to be British.

I watched it on iPlayer this morning (Time difference and all that!) I LOVED it and I agree- Paul McCartney was a let down! They like to roll him out to sing Hey Jude for every national event! I'm a big History/Book/Music nut so I loved the first Historical section and the NHS/Literature section AND the music section. How cool was the Cauldron?! Very proud to be British today. Made me feel downright homesick actually! Can't wait to come back for a month in February and visit. :) V. impressed with the speeches too.

Just thought I would poke my head in and say I'm still going, still losing, now 11lb lost since I started 11 weeks ago (8lb in the last 4 weeks). No binges. No excuses.

Still keeping a TL frame of mind and hope to be back with you in the next couple of months. :)

Atta girl jezzie :)

After spending Friday digging and replanting the front garden, I stayed up late to watch the opening ceremony and pack for camping. Up early Saturday morning with 12 yo niece, OH and two dogs to drive to Snowdon and climb the Llanberis path to the top. Half way up it started to rain and then we were in the cloud. Poor vision, rain, wind and cold, but we kept going. I'm sure if niece and dogs had it their way we would have turned back. We did it in less than five hours and then drove down to Llanbedr to camp for the night. Set up camp, cooked tea and went to bed. Today we cooked breakfast, packed up and went to Barmouth for niece to body board and dogs to have a run. Brilliant weekend with dogs, child and adults now shattered. The way it should be!

well done for posting your pics Sparty

you are clearly on the mission and you can tell the difference you have made

it's clearly difficult at 5'1" - every pound must seem magnified on a small frame...

I am a whole foot taller than you and some well meaning fools tell me already that I've lost enough!

thats the value of height on a weight loss plan - but it can be detrimental if you start believing people !

well done for sticking at it and I promise to keep telling you off!

following on from a feww posts about the Olympics

1) they have inspired me incredibly the last couple of days - my stepper is red hot!
2) the opening ceremony is IMO was astonishing, I missed Mccartney, but thats a good thing, I'm a Stones man and I get sick of him getting wheeled out on every national occasion to warble his dirges
3) great result for Adlington, I thought she'd struggle with the expectation, the Bronze is justly deserved - she swam a better time for that than her Gold time in Beijing remember!

Watch the Olympics - stories of perseverance, inspiration and health everywhere you look

Be part of it and make a difference to yourselves this next two weeks

the tagline is "Inspire a generation"

so that means US!

GO FOR IT

if anyone has never seen Pumping Iron with Arnold Swarzenegger, its the tale of his comeback Mr Olympia quest

a great line from in there

Lou Ferrigno's (Incredible Hulk) father was trying to psyche Arnold out

"Arnie, he said, the King of the hill can only come down"

Lighning response from Arnie :

"or stay up"

stay up people
