Well its literally just like Cal counting apart from loads of foods are free- meat (except some of the processed stuff like sausages), cheese, eggs... in "Induction" which is the first 2 weeks you can only eat certain things and then after that you can introduce more.. I recommend checking out some of the info on this part of the forum about Induction, there are some good links. You need to read up really as I am not yet 'pro' enough to properly explain it! Am getting the book soon but til then am using the advice of others. Sue (Sun) and Dancing are both quite knowledgeable! xxx
Oh mine can last for days and then when I get a grip I can’t imagine that I ate what I did. If that makes sense? Like I know what I eat is so bad and I can pile on pounds in a day but once I’ve started a “bad” day the rest of the day follows suit regardless of hunger etc. I know it sounds crazy. I have an amazing husband, good friends a job I like, a brilliant family yet my weight holds me back at every corner. For years I had a grip on it and loved my clothes etc. reading your diary from your dating days sounds so much like me – loving how I looked and lapping up all the male attention, Now I feel invisible and horrible. God where did that come from!
I am currently 15.4 (horrific) and I am 5’5” so want to get to 10 stone so over 5 to loose!! It just seems so much. I am a bridesmaid in 9 weeks and have a 14 dress to fit into, I need to get under 13 for that to happen. I feel like I am under a mountain of blocks right now and can’t find the way out, if that makes sense.
Apologies for banging on……
You are doing amazing well with your weight Karen, 20lbs is nothing in the grand scheme of things!!
Maintaining is the tough part. Once in the zone with diets, I can stick to them 100% especially when it works through ketosis coz you cannot cheat, but once at goal thats when the hard work begins. I'm now at my target, but thought I'd be a size 12 when I lost the weight, but am a baggy 14 and a tight 12 (not a flattering look), so I'm sticking with the diet until I get in a 'nicely fitting' size 12. I know I'll have the same trouble as you once in my size 12! We want the foods we are not allowed. I crave sweet food at the moment, but I know I love WW frozen desserts. I'm going to make sure my freezer is full of yummy WW desserts/biscuits. If not I'll end up eating what my hubby buys (hate him...he eats what he wants and stays lovely and slim). He has the fridge stuffed with cheesecakes/chocolate/Eclairs and the cupboards are full of biscuits. I'm going to set a maximum weight gain and once it goes over that then I'm back on either CD or Atkins to take it off. I hope I can stick to that! Fingers crossed.
Thanks Karen - i just need to get my mojo back and go for it. Tomorrow i will start and with you guys on here doing it to it might get me to cop on!
I know what you mean about SS and the no life - i basically stayed in for weeks on end when i did it. Cancelled my whole life and didn't contemplate life socialising while on it. Eating is a natural thing and not to eat just seems so alien! I too piled on weight when met hubby - chineses and bottles of wine, not to mention long boozy pub lunches, have all taken their toll. At least on atkins you can have a steak and chicken breast and then feel semi human!
In the book it tells you how much lettuce etc to have so i have been thinking i will stick rigidly to that.
I don't think i can cope with measuring everything so i plan on sticking the meats/eggs and cheese and the allowed amounts of greens and that.
I am planning a day like this -
Breakfast - Scrambled eggs (2 eggs and water) with Ham
Snacks - Cheese String
Lunch - Meat (chicken breast/fish) with lettuce, cucumber greens
Dinner - Stir Fry with loads of parwns, cabbage, spring onin, pepper or maybe a pork chop and more lettuce, or a chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon with greens.
The salam amounts are quite generous - i think if only having salad (lettuce & mushrooms etc) then you can have 320g per day or else have 220g and then 120g of brocolli, courgettes and veg from a list. So the diet is not quite the meat and fat feast i originally thought.
I think i am going to stay away from cream and too much cheese and try and do a healthy ish version of it!
Hope that helps!!
