It's not cheating, if you have syns left and you fancy something, then have it, that's what syns are there for. As long as you don't go over your syns then there's nothing to worry about.

    Red Days Headache and tiredness

I was like that for a bit too... My C said it was my body detoxing from all the rubbish I ate before. I'd also go along with the fluids thing, if you're not drinking enough that can make you tired and give you headaches.

    is this ok on EE

When I make my lentil soups, I add carrots, brocolli, onions and chopped peppers or whatever vegetables I have in at the time.

    Self-destruction?

Everybody has 'off' weeks, where they overindulge or 'blow out'. I know I've done it plenty of times along my journey. The main thing is that you've picked yourself up and dusted yourself off and are ready to get back on the wagon. That deserves praise in itself, because it's too easy for us, as...

    Green Days portion size

I always eat big portions, so when I make things from scratch the portions me and hubby eat are probably a 'serves 4' size.. Ie: We have 2 portions each. It has never hindered my losses at all. Just be sure to stop when you're full and not just eat becasue you CAN.
  14. Mummy_Helen

part green part red day ??

I was going to say the same thing.

    Food Directory

I find it easy enough to navigate, you just put the brand name into the syns online, then the product and if it's on there it will give you the syn values, there's also a syns calculator for things that aren't on the syns list so you can just put nutritional values in and it will give you the syns.
  16. Mummy_Helen

    Food Directory

You don't get one when you join, but you would have free access to the website so you could look any syns up. I have the 2010 food directory that I bought when I joined and it cost £7.50, but to be honest I don't use it, as I always look it up on the website.

    "Wet" eggs.

Mine goes watery if I don't cook my veg first, but if I fry any mushrooms, onions etc first, and then add them to the mixture, I don't have any problems.
  18. Mummy_Helen

    whats for lunch

I have a bacon & mushroom quiche in the oven now, and will have salad with it.
  19. Mummy_Helen

Hopefully this wont impact to much

I wouldn't think it would impact, you can have between 5-15 syns a day. 4 extra syns won't do much.
  20. Mummy_Helen

How do you beat your cravings?!

I keep a multi bag of fun sized chocs in for when I crave choc. The hard part is not eating the whole bag, to conquer that, I make sure I am full up on my free food before I have it (so either have my lunch or tea) and then I am already full before I have it.
  21. Mummy_Helen

So Annoyed but I will win

I've never had an issue with losses eating pasta or potatoes, but I do find when I don't have all my syns then I would slow down. Now I always try to use my syns every day.

    SW Supermarket Range!!

I wouldn't use them myself, I really enjoy cooking, and love to make everything from scratch. However, I know a lot of my friends would buy them just because they don't enjoy cooking. So for those who don't like cooking, then it can only be a good thing to have syn free sauces or low syn meals...

Anyone Maintaining Who Wants Help And Mutual Support To Stay Put?

I tried it the official way but I carried on losing. I even went as far as having 2 extra HEB's and was still losing ½ lb, so I decided to try a different way, and now I have one night off a week. Usually at the weekend, where I eat normally during the day, but tea time and after I have a couple...

I don't like to eat them on their own, but it's fine for me in yogurt or porridge. I buy fresh fruit for snacks but also buy frozen for breakfasts.

Feel out of my depth eating out...

To be honest, if I'm going out, I tend not to worry too much. I try to opt for something 'better' for you, even though it has syns, but if I really want something, then I have it. I don't go out very often anyway, so I flexi syn that day. If I have a pub lunch, I'll swap the chips for boiled...

    How fast do you inches?

I don't recal every inch loss, but it took me 7 months to go from a size 22 down to a size 12.
  34. Mummy_Helen

    why oh why

I agree, swapping eating plans will mess you up, because they are so different. You really need to decide which one you want to do and stick with it for a period of time. Both WW and SW work, I've done SW for almost a year now and my friend has done WW for quite a while with good results. On...

    So upset with myself

The one thing I always do, is if I want something, then I'll have it. If I deny myself something then the craving gets worse and that's when I overindulge on it. But what I do, is I'll completely fill myself up with free foods and SF foods (ie: breakfast, lunch or tea) and THEN have the thing...

    here we go again!

I think it's a personal preference which plan you use, I love EE, but occasionally I'll have a red or green day. Green Days gutted !!!!!!

I'm not sure, I tend to drink flavoured waters more than no added sugar squashes. I would think they would, I know lots of people at my class don't like regular water and drink NASS all the time with no consequences, but I'm sure someone more knowledgable can answer better on that one.
  43. Mummy_Helen

    peppermint tea

I drink green tea with mint, but not to speed up losses, but because sometimes I want to have cheese with my lunch or tea which means I can't have milk for regular tea.

I always eat light on WI day, which is tonight at 6pm. But I do eat otherwise I tend to feel sluggish and tired. today I made the SW quiche with lots of veggies in, and that will keep me going until I cook tea tonight.

Extra Easy Newbies!! Help and Guidance please???

As for the water retention, are you making sure you're drinking enough? If you're exercising you should be upping your water too. Not drinking enough will cause water retention. Have you noticed any inch loss? If you are exercising a lot then you might not be losing lb's but losing inches instead.
  49. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

    I'm making a mushroom risotto (3 syns) Can't wait!
  50. Mummy_Helen

2lbs gain bad weekend... back on plan!

Make sure if you're doing all this exercise that you are drinking plenty. Are you weighing mid week, or do you normally WI today? That could make a difference too. Easter is there to be enjoyed, and I'm sure it will come off quickly.
  51. Mummy_Helen

    Green Days gutted !!!!!!

I agree with not cutting back, when I cut down what I eat I end up with a gain, I suppose because my body goes into starvation mode and holds onto everything I eat. I would definitely up the water, dehydration can cause gains as your body holds onto fluids causing water retention. I usually...

I've maintained for 7 weeks now :) Although I still don't really know how.. I still eat the same, but if I want the occasional treat then I have it. It did take me a while to get my head round it, I actually reached target at christmas, and it's taken a good couple months to STS, as when I...

    Aspartame

I use Morrisons sucralose based sweetener, it's much cheaper than splenda, and they do both the tablets and granulated forms. I was getting headaches using aspartame based sweeteners too. I would report it, because although she'll be losing weight, it's not a legit group. I would think it would be fraud using th SW name and taking money but not sharing the profit with SW. So excited!

I've been living up here for 2½ years and despite my best efforts at trying to make friends, the people seemed to already be in cliques and I never got any further than saying hello and a quick chat at the school gates. I know a couple of people, but they were a negative influence in my life...

    Children and sleep

It really depends on the reason for her not wanting to sleep. When my 5 year old was up multiple times a night we tried to talk to her and she always said she was ok, nothing was troubling her, she just 'woke up' or wanted a drink or wanted... ANYTHING just to be up. We ended up having to be...

    My new pup!

No, from what was said at the vet check, his muscle tone wouldn't have been as bad as it was if he'd been lost a long time. In fact it would have been BETTER if he'd been lost a long time, because he would have been walking lots. We were told that the state of his muscles he hadn't been...

He's chipped now, but wasn't when he was found, although he's chipped to the pyrenean rescue center, which is about 15 miles from our house, so if he ever did get lost then he'd be sent right there and they would contact us to get him back. It's also the rescue's way of keeping tabs on how often...

I have 2 dogs and need to walk them seperately (one is a puller and the other walks by my side) and although I've not noticed a big difference in weight losses etc.. I FEEL fitter, and healthier and my legs are most definitely more toned.

    My new pup!

I've been through that with the rescue center. I asked them what would happen, and they told me that the owner has no legal rights to the dog, since it had been 3 weeks before we got him back, and he hadn't even been reported missing. I had called the police and the dog warden when we first...

    My new pup!

I really do believe it's fate that brought him here. We live in a little cul de sac in a tiny village in the hills. To get to our little street he must have passed hundreds of other houses. I used to have another husky, but he passed 2 years ago, and we'd been thinking about getting another...

    My new pup!

We've been here for 2½ years, and the dog is about a year old the rescue say, so obviously not from here. He's just a big teddy bear, he gets on great with everyone. As for the economic crisis that has forced people to sell their dogs, I would be selling my kidney before I sell a dog..lol...

    My new pup!

A couple of weeks ago we were woken by a banging noise, which we found to be a dog trying to pound our back gate open. When I exercise I save both my HEA and HEB for the evenings for that reason, then I have my tea, then some fruit and if I get really peckish I make a cheese and ham toastie and pack it up with mushrooms, onions and sliced tomato. It feels really naughty but it's a healthy extra.

What do you do if u cant make class but can make another?

Yes you can, we have some shift workers that occasionally come to our class if they are working for their normal class. You don't need to tell your C unless you want to because all the info will be on your card.
  81. Mummy_Helen

    Enough syns for my weight?

You could try adding syns to your food if you're too full to have them seperately. I do it and use it for things like sugar or a little bit of cream or butter, or for salami etc.... It worked really well for me because I was having trouble fitting them all in.

Worried about starting SW and how it works

Personally I would forget calories. I have never counted the calories since I started SW. If the book says unlimited (free) then it really is. Oh dear God!! I almost had a heart attack there!! I go through so much fruit in a week and most of it is chopped pineapple, chopped mango, balled melon etc....
  95. Mummy_Helen

    anxious please help

I agree, ditch the scales if you're attending class... your weight fluctuates all through the day/week. The only time you should weigh is on WI day and at the same time, wearing similar clothes. It can be disheartening to see those numbers, but they mean nothing.
  96. Mummy_Helen

    Extra Easy confused!

If I have a jacket potato with beans, I add fried mushrooms and onion and cherry tomatoes to it... bulks it out but gives you the superfree.

Extra Easy How much did you lose first week?

I lost 7lb the first week, but everyone is different. Some people lose slower than others, but at the end of the day we are all making those first steps to losing weight so any loss is a positive step. Look at it as a journey, some people get in their cars, drive on the motorway at 70mph and...

You need to eat until you are satisfied. If you're still feeling hungry then you're not eating enough. The plan does work, so have faith in it. I know it's hard to believe that you can eat so much and lose weight, but you really can. I haven't gone hungry since I started, and my portions are...

    Day one and I failed

If I had 28g porridge I would be hungry all day too... I bulk mine out and make a meal of it. I make it as normal, but then add a muller light to it, and a chopped banana and then blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. Makes a HUGE bowl and really fills me up.

I have done this before 42g is 6 syns and the 21g would be the 3 from the recipe, so you could just eat 21g of cheese or grate it and add it to the top of your meal to make it the HEA.
  118. Mummy_Helen

    fish stall

I love to steam my salmon with some seasonings on top, keeps it really moist.
  119. Mummy_Helen

    Secret Taste Weapon!

I have so many free ones that I don't think I'll bother. I think I have about 100 different herbs and spices now, and still on the lookout for new seasonings. Might be nice for a special occasion though.

    Starting tonight!!

Hi and welcome:) I got this from the SW site, with regards to the childrens food. Q: Can my child join a Slimming World group? Day 1 - Slimming World Diet

Welcome! Your stats are almost identical to mine, I was 203lb when I started and my goal was 152lb. I managed to get it done in 7 months, so it's definitely doable. I just got my target yesterday. Good luck:)
  122. Mummy_Helen

    Nervous, Excited & Scared

Welcome aboard:) You DO know that along with the weight you'll also lose your sanity here LOL:8855: GL with the TTC too :)
  123. Mummy_Helen

    How much have you lost?

    I've lost 3½ stone.
  124. Mummy_Helen

    kids and sw

Most of the time yes. Mine are 3, 4 and 5 yrs old. The only time they don't have the same thing as us is when we want something spicy or something they don't like, but they love pitta pizzas, spag bol, cottage pie, pasta etc... No need to make seperate meals since it isn't a diet. In fact when...

    Whats for tea tonight?

LOL My son (3) calls broccoli trees too! And for a twist on the Joe's peppered meats, try chopping them up and frying then add a little bit of milk to make a pepper sauce, tastes great in an asda wholemeal wrap (4.5) for a not so naughty treat, or just fry the steaks as normal then add the milk...

    Reset weight

If I were you, I'd stick with it. A lot of people gain over christmas, but it doesn't mean you can't still get to your target. Changing the start weight won't change anything. It might look good that you won't have had a gain, but you know in your heart that you did. I'd just take it as it comes...
  132. Mummy_Helen

Does anyone else go to meetings on their own?

I go alone, because when I started I was fairly new to the area and didn't know many people. I've been going since may, and now I don't feel like I go on my own because I've gotten to know people at class and it just feels like meeting up with friends for the evening. My first class I was...

    Panorama- cheap food

I buy most of my meat from the butchers and even make my own mince from the meats. I don't buy processed meats and I buy my veg from our dr's surgery as it's all from local farmers. Gotta look after your own. Sometimes I buy veg from the supermarket, as the dr's surgery only sells one day a...

Extra Easy Too good to be true??

If you're on extra easy then you will need to have 1/3 of the plate super free, so maybe add a pile of mushrooms and grilled tomatoes to the egg, ham and chips, and in the spag bol add mushrooms, onions and your tomatoes or passata will also count towards the 1/3. But yes, you really can eat...
  135. Mummy_Helen

    Christmas weigh in

I think ignore everyone else and what they think. You CAN enjoy christmas on plan and that's not sad. I am sticking 100% to plan this christmas, and let me tell you, some of the stuff on my menu is nicer than things I ate BEFORE SW. My treats are all synned and within plan. I know that some...
  136. Mummy_Helen

Are you having a christmas day treat?

I'm planning to stick to it, but I'm also hoping I'll be at target by then, so an extra treat might be in order. My christmas dinner will be totally syn free (including making the stuffing from the christmas book) so I might allow myself some bailey's cream with my Bailey's cheesecake (also from...

We have tins and boxes of chocs all over the place, everyone seems to be buying the kids big tins/boxes to share, and when I've said something, they say "Well i didn't get YOU chocolate".. 143. Mummy_Helen

Class cancelled - hard to stay on track!

So far I think I've done ok. I reduced the syns I had today to cover the pringles I'd had, and I'm having red/green days because I can't get out to get the 1/3 veg right now, I have SOME frozen veg, but if I use it as 1/3 every meal it would be gone very quickly. I am supposed to be having my...

    Enough snow already!!

So here's what we have from 3 days of almost continuous snow, and we're still getting more every day... Snowed in... Class question

Well I've been trying on and off all morning, and either it's engaged or the last few times it says the inbox is full and can longer recieve new messages. I really hope I don't get charged next week for missing it, but I did all I could. TBH though I would think the class will be cancelled anyway.
  148. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

Cottage pie here... 2 big fat servings..lol I can't believe how hungry I am, must be the cold weather!
  149. Mummy_Helen

    Snowed in... Class question

LOL She has about 10 classes so it averages out.. I know most days she does 2 classes a day. No there is no mobile number for her, just a landline. I'll keep trying tomorrow. Last week was my last countdown week, so I don't want to be paying for a class that I can't get to through no fault of...

    Snowed in... Class question

Is there anywhere on the SW website that tells you of cancelled classes due to the severe weather? My C has over 600 people between her groups so I doubt she'll be able to contact us all individually. My WI is tomorrow night. I can't even get out of my street, we currently have 11 inches and...

HM macaroni cheese with mushrooms, onions, peppers and sausages through it.
  156. Mummy_Helen

    Help me understand...

Yes 1/3 of the ingredients need to be superfree... so tinned tomatoes, onion, mushrooms, peppers, carrots all count as superfree.
  157. Mummy_Helen

Extra Easy Days Whats for pudding?

I think I might try the bailey's coffee tonight, it's so cold and I'm sure that would warm me up :)
  158. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

It's freezing and snowy here today, so I'm going to make a winter warmer spicy sausage and bean casserole with veg.
  159. Mummy_Helen

Extra Easy Days Whats for pudding?

Tonight I'm going to have a mince pie HiFi warmed and crumbled over some sliced apple, with quark mixed with sweetener and a tiny splash of brandy (about 3 mls) to make a brandy cream.
  160. Mummy_Helen

    freezer Shopping help needed

I buy loads of frozen fruit, especially now that the fresh fruit isn't so good, and it's expensive. 162. Mummy_Helen

    whats for lunch

Sorry they were yucky... I'm not a big fan of instant noodles anyway, I tend to make them from scratch, and make my own sauce and they can be put in a food flask if going out.
  163. Mummy_Helen

    Extra Easy I KNOW I SHOULDN'T BUT..........

If you go to class, try not to weigh at home. I used to do this, and my weight would be all over the place from one HOUR to the next. One time I'd weigh myself and I'd have lost, then the next I'd have gained 2 lb! I never weigh at home now. If you're doing this alone, then just try not to...
  164. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for breakfast?

Just had some porridge with frozen fruit (defrosted first)
  165. Mummy_Helen

    whats for lunch

  167. Mummy_Helen

    Extra Easy syns usage.

I was having trouble using all my syns too, so started adding them to my meals. I found I was so full after tea I didn't want anything else. So now I add some cream to pasta sauces, or red/white wine for cooking, sugar for sweet treats or flour for thickening sauces.

Exhausted and trying hard not to cheat

I do feel proud... Of my hubby..lol Because I know that I would have wanted it. Of course I go NO sleep last night, so I've still got to get through today without falling off. Exhausted and trying hard not to cheat

Well my hubby took the situation out of my hands... I just got home from WI (lost ½ lb so VERY happy with that) and he's made us a SW fry up, sausage, beans, bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and toast. It's smelling wonderful, so won't be getting the takeaway after all... He's awesome...

Exhausted and trying hard not to cheat

I have had about 2 hrs sleep in the last 48 hrs. My 5 yr old daughter has been in hospital with a 40.1C temp, she has accute tonsilitus AND an ear infection, AND gastroenteritis. I am exhausted looking after her and haven't been able to cook from scratch for the last 2 days. I know I haven't...
  172. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

I've got a huge pot of veg soup on the go, so we'll be having some of that and a wholemeal roll. I might even syn some butter for the roll :P
  173. Mummy_Helen

Does anyone else ver use HEX's as a meal?

I sometimes save mine for a nice creamy ready brek (with milk) in the evening, I'll add a yogurt to it to make it bigger and more filling, and add some fruit to it too.... really keeps those hunger pangs away.
  174. Mummy_Helen

Extra Easy is this menu ok?

Just be careful that you are actually getting 1/3 super free, depending on how many mushrooms you had, I doubt that was 1/3, though I could be wrong, like I say it depends on how many you had. Lunch looks ok, but remember parsnips aren't super free so you're only counting the carrots and...
  175. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

Jaeger schnitzels and bratkartoffeln with veg.
  176. Mummy_Helen

    What Am I Doing?!?

I have 6 500ml bottles and I fill them up with NAS squash and just sip them through the day, somehow it makes a difference for me, because when you say 3 litres it sounds TOO much and put's me off trying, but if you have one of the smaller bottles and just sip away, it's surprising how quickly...

    Whats for tea tonight?

Tonight we are having beans on toast with sausage, mushrooms, onions and baby tomatoes.
  183. Mummy_Helen

    How the heck ........

I know how you feel! I used to be the same. My hubby is always bringing chocolate home for the kids, and I hardly ever touch it, and when I do I syn it. Well done you!

    Robinsons "no added sugar" Squash

    Yes, it's free :)
  185. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

Sausages cooked in caramelized red onion gravy, topped with potato and roast veg on the side.
  186. Mummy_Helen

    Confused!!

Yes, if it's free on either red or green then it's free on EE. I've never heard of mixing the days up on one day though. I always stick to which ever day I've chosen, which is usually EE.
  187. Mummy_Helen

    whats for lunch

I just had a roasted vegetable quiche
  188. Mummy_Helen

What time do you eat in the evening?

We always eat at about 7-8pm. We cook for the kids at 4.30pm and originally we ate at the same time, but I found when I ate at 4.30pm I would be hungry when they went to bed, and pick at stuff all night. Now I'l have a yogurt or banana or something about 4.30 to keep me going until tea time. I...

Weight recorded my Member not Consultant!!

My C does the weigh in, she has told us that SW says they should have a member help, but she doesn't agree with that so she does it, she just has a member do the money but that's it, and she sit on a seperate table so can't see anything.

    Blowing my own trumpet

    Ok here it is!
  192. Mummy_Helen

    Does it catch you up?

I've had this. I had been out and still lost, but the following week I gained and I had stayed on plan.
  193. Mummy_Helen

    Blowing my own trumpet

I'll get pics tonight, am off out in a bit and won't be home til about 7pm
  194. Mummy_Helen

What have you eaten that you thought was healthy.....

Mine was dolmio, When I first started, I bought a jar, thinking "It's just tomatoes" and it was 19 syns for the large jar!! Needless to say we never used it, and now I make my own with passata and stock.
  195. Mummy_Helen

    Feeling down :(

My C said that fizzy drinks can do it, even if they are diet/low cal (ie free drinks), and that they don't count as water intake. So maybe that will help :)
  196. Mummy_Helen

    Hello -reintroducing myself

My nan lived in Plymouth, my dad was raised there, they were in Devonport :)
  197. Mummy_Helen

    Feeling down :(

I normally drink between 2-3 litres a day, I have some of those 500ml water bottles and fill them up with water and just sip it through the day (Or buy flavoured water). So 4-6 of those small bottles a day. My SIL lives in Glasgow, we're over there quite often.
  198. Mummy_Helen

    Feeling down :(

Are you drinking enough? My losses always slow down when I am not drinking enough. When I step it up and it falls off. I had two weeks also where I only lost 0.5 lb and I knew I hadn't drank enough (one was * week though). Don't be disheartened, at least it IS coming off. Where in Scotland are you?
  199. Mummy_Helen

    Hello -reintroducing myself

    Blowing my own trumpet

I got my 3 stone shiny last night!!! :D:D:D I also bought myself a new dress for christmas, and I NEVER wear dresses. I got a size 14 and I can't believe how good it looks! And it's RED, a colour I stayed away from because I always thought red showed shadows from my tyres more! I've also...
  202. Mummy_Helen

    Right track?

Yes, I would try having it with every meal, the only time I ever do the 1/3 in the whole day is if I really fancy something that can't really have 1/3 SF with the meal, but then I would usually have a bowl of fruit afterwards. It sounds strange, but my plate kind of feels naked now if there...
  203. Mummy_Helen

    whats for lunch

We're having bacon, mushroom, pepper and tomato quiche with carrot chips.
  204. Mummy_Helen

Original help! I missed WI on monday

I'd go today then your normal one, otherwise you'll have to pay the back fee for missing a week.
  205. Mummy_Helen

    Tuesday Weighers

2.5 lb off for me :D And I got my 3 stone shiny!!
  206. Mummy_Helen

    Had enough!!!

The issue comes with tea and coffee because they are natural diuretics. This can dehydrate you and counteract the effects of drinking the water.
  207. Mummy_Helen

    Had enough!!!

The one I have is Morrisons green tea with mint, I prefer that over regular green tea, it's really refreshing, although I drink normal green tea too. And yes, herbal/fruit teas count as water intake.
  208. Mummy_Helen

what has SW done for you?

SW has taught me how terrible I was about eating before. I have always loved cooking, but the WAY I cooked was bad. I used cream in all my sauces, went through 2 blocks of butter a week frying, or on jacket spuds etc... I am actually LOVING cooking healthy stuff and to be honest, it tastes MUCH...
  209. Mummy_Helen

Does your hubby /partner know your weight??

My hubby knows, but thats because we both do SW. He doesn't go to the class because we'd have no-one to watch our kids, and there's no point paying for 2 of us to go when I have access to all the information. He weighs at home and I WI at class. I do ALL the cooking so I can make SURE everything...
  210. Mummy_Helen

    Had enough!!!

I lose more when I drink lots, I've moved on from regular tea to green tea, and if you want a warmer drink it's perfect because it counts as water intake where as regular tea doesn't. I drink tons of the stuff now.
  211. Mummy_Helen

    TOTALLY off the wagon

I say just draw a line under it and start afresh now. Get back on plan, and don't drive yourself batty trying to salvage it all. We all have days/ weeks where we go off plan, but pick yourself up, go to WI on thursday and take whatever the scales give you as motivation to get back on track. It...

    back from first class......

Well done!! I remember my first night, I was nervous the whole day because I hate going into big rooms by myself if I don't know anyone there. I had to force myself to go in. I too was mortified at my weight. For some bizzare reason I though I was only about 11.5 st, and when I jumped on the...
  213. Mummy_Helen

What to take to work in a thermos?

I would invest in the food flask. I love mine. I've made packet pasta in them, just by pouring boiling water and the packet contents and then stirring it and leaving it until I need it at lunch. I don't work, but I have so much on with the three kids, sometimes I'm not home for lunch, so I can...
  214. Mummy_Helen

    What's for breakfast?

I just had fruit salad and a yogurt. It's WI tonight, so I always go light on tuesdays.
  215. Mummy_Helen

What's you average weight loss on SW?

That's pretty much my norm. Sometimes I have bigger losses, 2-3.5 lb off, but thats only every now and then, the last 2 weeks I only lost 0.5lb, but one of those was * week and the second, I'd had a flexi day. But my average is 1-2 lb off. Of course I've had gains too along the way.
  216. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

We'll be having cheesy chicken and bacon pasta with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes.
  217. Mummy_Helen

Extra Easy The mince mine field

I have just started making my own mince, which works out cheaper for me. I buy a nice lean joint of lamb/pork/beef and cut it up (and take the fat off) and whizz it in the food processor. It makes loads and I freeze the mince I'm not using that day.
  218. Mummy_Helen

    yogurts

I agree, the zero ones are nice and thick and creamy. I love the cherry ones. I also love fat free greek yogurt with sweetener poured over fruit.
  219. Mummy_Helen

    Weekly weight loss target

I think that would annoy me. I just don't see the point of it, all that does is make you feel crap if you don't meet your goal. Stick to your guns, she can't MAKE you agree a weekly loss.
  220. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

Pork and apple burgers (home made - 0.5 syns per burger) with roasted vegetables and carrot chips.
  221. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

We've decided to have sweet and sour pork with mushroom fried rice.
  226. Mummy_Helen

    whats for lunch

This is ONE serving, so the mix will make twice as much. The picture shows 4 small ones, but normally I make 2 bigger ones per person, I made these small ones for the kids) These small ones work out at just over 0.5 syns each. One serving is either 4 small OR 2 larger burgers. 2.5 syns per...

    Whats for tea tonight?

Last night we had salmon fillets topped with cheese & chilli sauce and HM breadcrumbs with seasonings, served on a bed of steamed asparagus, with roasted veg. Haven't decided what to have tonight, Will be some kind of pork, as I have a big joint for lunch tomorrow, which will be way too much...

    I'm a Total Newbie

Welcome:) Have a look through peoples food diaries, or look at the recipe section, even the meals that are red meat could be substituted for white meat and there are some really yummy things in there.
  229. Mummy_Helen

    help please

Don't stop going to class, if you stop going it will be too easy to just stop doing SW altogether. Some people can do it on their own, but it looks like you need it. Just remember that small losses are still losses. Some people never have big losses no matter what they try, but as long as the...

    workin out syns..

For things like sweets, it's roughly 20 calories = 1 syn, however this doesn't work on other foods. My suggestion would be to just post your query in the syns section and someone will be able to help you out.

    setting your target ?

I haven't set a target, because I don't want to be a certain weight, I want to be in a size 12, so I've been setting intrim targets until I get into those 12's.

I agree, that isn't a failure, that is totally on plan. If you lose too much too quickly it's not maintainable. Seems you're doing just fine to me.

Is it important to eat syns?

You can do fish week on EE too. Just make sure you have the 1/3 veg/salad/fruit and eat the same was you'd normally do for EE just having fish instead of meat.
