Total Solution Four stone in 15 weeks challenge??!!

I'll be back on Exante tomorrow, but I'll be taking no further part in the forum. So I just wanted to wish everyone the best and say goodbye. :wave_cry:

    Total Solution starving

I'm sorry if my comment came across the wrong way, but it honestly was not an attempt to be nasty. I guess it was a failed attempt at trying to be funny and lightening the situation. I suppose I should have remembered that it isn't easy for some people to understand another persons sense of...

    Total Solution starving

It makes me laugh when people claim to be starving. Most of us don't even know what it is like to be in such a situation. Don't take this the wrong way, but get on with it!!
  8. S

    Drinks question please...

Basically leaf teas are fine and fruit teas are a big fat no-no. Simples. ;)

    Time out!!

I sure will. I don't have time to mess around any more, so I'll be straight back on it as soon as I can. It's so frustrating when everything seemed to be going so well too. :(

    Thanks all. :) Don't worry, it wasn't caused by binge-alitus!! :D

    Time out!!

Having a bit of a problem with a certain issue, which I won't go into the details of, but basically I have to take at least a few days off. I'm bound to gain some weight, but hopefully it will mostly be water. I'm hoping to get back to TS on Wednesday if I'm told it's okay. I'll still be...

Good luck with it, sounds like you have plenty of motivation. A diary can help, but it's totally your choice.

I've been very ill - getting back into Exante

Sounds awful, sorry to hear it. Like others have said, make sure you aren't getting back into Exante too early. If your body is still recovering then you won't be giving it enough energy to work with.

It's still only a rough idea. I think you'll find it will be less than that.
  22. S

    Calories after exante

You beat me to it. :D
  23. S

    Calories after exante

That'll be a bit low. You would need to work out your BMR to get a rough idea how many calories you would need each day to maintain your weight. Then you would need to factor in how many extra calories you would need to allow for how active you are. Maybe this might help: BMR Calculator

    New Starter and realistic targets?

Muscle building is heavy weights and low reps, toning is lighter weights and high reps. But these are both a bit much for anyone on a VLCD. It may feel a bit pointless to beging with, but you really need to start off with lighter weights AND low reps. You don't want to be pushing yourself...

    I'm am so sorry :(

You have no reason to be sorry, you have not let any of us down. It sounds like a very difficult and extremely emotional situation to be in, so don't be so hard on yourself. I think all of us would have done exactly the same. The positive thing is that you are back on Exante, which has no...
  34. S

    New Starter and realistic targets?

Depending on what you include in the routine, I would say that 2 sets of 6, 8 or 10 might be a better starting point. It's much better to start off low and build up, so as not to stop the weight loss.
  35. S

    New Starter and realistic targets?

The walking is fine, but to be honest I would skip the jogging and start some very light weight training instead. Maybe on the 4th week, so that your body has had plenty of time to adjust to the lower calorie intake. Start off with a very basic routine and build it up a little each week.
  36. S

    New Starter and realistic targets?

Some light exercise would be fine, but I would build it up slowly. If you do too much too soon it will affect your losses. When doing a VLCD, some light weight training is supposed to be better than cardio. I plan to start that when I've lost roughly half the weight.
  37. S

    New Starter and realistic targets?

I changed my post, as men lose the weight quicker. ;)
  38. S

    New Starter and realistic targets?

Hi and welcome. Edited as I realised you are a dude!! :o It is difficult to say how much you will lose as it's not exactly the same for everyone. You could lose around 1 stone in the first week, but this will mostly be water. After that it could be anything up to around 1.5 stone per month...
  39. S

whats the plan need to lose 22lbs

I was wondering the same thing. I'm sure someone else has mentioned something similar recently as well.
  40. S

    When do they notice?

Yes, initially it's dropping the water that can make quite a difference both in weight and appearance. For most people anyway.
  41. S

    When do they notice?

This will vary from one person to the next, as well as if other people actually take much notice of such things. It may not be obvious to us, as we look every day - making it more difficult to realise. The best thing to do is take 2 photos of yourself every 2 weeks, one from the front and one...
  42. S

    Prep for starting!

Yes, if you want to. But if you have thought about stopping smoking, then this might be a good time. Ketosis will take away the physical hunger pangs, which means it might be easier to not smoke at all. Just a thought. I've seen a Biggest Loser shaker being recommended. Or consider a...

    My clothes fit again!!

It wasn't easy thinking of a new name. I even lay in bed the other night thinking about it for hours and didn't really come up with anything. The name was sort of based on a character, but just for the sound of it rather than what he does. I like your idea as well though. :D

Sounds familiar namaste. Luckily I didn't quite get to the point where I couldn't do my jeans up, but it wasn't far off. Discovered the joy of hot shakes!!

It is great. I think this time around I will keep the clothes a little longer just in case. I'm determined not to fail, but without going into the details, not everything is within my control. I just have to see how things go. I've got some clothes which will cover me for the next step, but...

    Exante Buddies thread

They are very different to the CD bars. The Exante bars are quite dry. So in a way I'd say yes they are a bit less tempting. You can use Asda Measure Up Bars, Tesco "Something or Other" Bars or Biggest Loser Bars, as long as they are the Meal Replacement ones and not snack bars - but they...

Same thing, just a different brand. Exante doesn't have as much choice as Cambridge and there are no counsellors or weekly meetings/weigh-ins. But the price is certainly more affordable and there is great support on this forum. We're the hard core VLCD'ers. :D

Total Solution Four stone in 15 weeks challenge??!!

    am i selfish

Agree with your post above, but the quoted part is what I wanted to comment on. A lot of people find change difficult. Fear holds them back from achieving many things. Being around someone else that is making big changes to their life isn't easy either. If a person is not able to take...

    My clothes fit again!!

The last time I got a decent way through a VLCD I gave some of my larger clothes to my Uncle and the rest to charity. Not long after that I came off the diet with a health issue (not because of the diet) and I put the weight back on. So for months now, I have been squeezing into smaller...

    Not happy

Yes, you really do need to look at the bigger picture. The diet works and it's the fastest possible way to lose your weight. Just stick with it and don't let the scales put you off. Are you taking your measurements as well, because I bet there would be a difference there - regardless of what...

    MrMoJo - Monday - Week 2 WI

Still a great result considering. No need to feel a litte bit false. Offering others advice and encouragement while not quite being on it yourself isn't a bad thing. We have to slip now and again to learn from it - and I'm sure you did. I hope you find it a bit easier from now on. :)

I'm fairly new around here so I've only seen a few of your posts so far. You've done great with your losses and I'm sure you will continue to do so. The diet isn't exactly easy at the best of times, so you really should be proud of yourself. :)

    Weekly week loss

Sorry that I took your first post the wrong way. :o The first week is always a much bigger loss on a VLCD beause you are losing retained water. Chances are that your loss this week is about 7lbs of water. From here on it will be a smaller loss and it really does differ from one person to...

What tastes nice is really down to personal opinion - and it differs quite a lot. I don't like the soups (as I'm not really a soup lover anyway) so just stick to shakes and bars. I'm fine with the shakes, although they are nothing special. There are a few things you can do to improve them...

    Another thread about Psyllium Husks

Reading more about daily fibre intake, it seems to me that Exante (and most likely other VLCD's) is a bit low when it comes to what we should be consuming. So no wonder there are so many people struggling with constipation.

Well done. Rollercoaster or not, that's a great result. I'm sure you have learnt a lot in those 12 days. ;)
  110. S

    Total Solution Oh well

I take your point about what works for you debbie125, but we are all different. Some people will find it easier to do WS, others find it easier to do TS, some people can't do either. Just because a person prefers to do TS and only has meal replacements does not mean that they aren't learning...
  111. S

    am i selfish

Discussing the situation might help him to understand that this isn't forever. You are doing this for...

    Cant decide ?

Anyone who doesn't approve probably just doesn't understand the diet. Many people will pass it off as dangerous and/or stupid without even taking the time to find out more about it. But if you really want to lose the weight, you have to make sacrifices now in order to benefit from it later. I'm sure you could find a reason to put it off next week, then the week after that, etc etc. Then, before you know it, your holiday is here and you are not going to enjoy it because...
  115. S

    Total Solution Oh well

I think a lapse here and there helps us in the long run. At least you have learnt from it and now want to get straight back into it. I'm sure you will still see a loss on Monday. One day of WS each week will not make much difference at all to your losses, as long as you do it right. :)
  116. S

    A kick up the a***

    Why Monday? What about tomorrow?
  117. S

    Total Solution Oh well

Only you can make it possible. If you want to get back on TS tomorrow, then do it. The omlette won't have caused as much damage as the chinese would have, so that's a slight bonus.

    Ketosis Q

Going great so far. After the struggles I had with false starts, it seems like I'm finally on the right path. :) The information on here has been a great help. It really has made things so much easier for me.
  131. S

    Ketosis Q

I'm also a dude and started the same time. :D
  132. S

    Prep for starting!

It also helps to make a list of the reasons why you want to lose the weight. You can put this on your fridge, or somewhere that you will see it often - unless you prefer to keep it private. Either way, take time to read it at least once a day (and when you feel vulnerable) and remind yourself of...
  133. S

    Whats "normal"

I think it's better to ignore "normal", as everyone's opinion on what it means is different. The most important thing is to be happy with whatever size you are, by getting to the size that you feel you will be most happy at. :)
  134. S

    OMG!!! BAAAD DAY

:sign0137: Okay, that did the trick.

That's great to see Rachel. You must be proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing. :)

    OMG!!! BAAAD DAY

Shhhh!! Some of us are trying to lose weight over here.
  137. S

I would really like a Buddy

That sounds promising. I think so far I'm most likely going to go for the Asda Measure Up bars, mainly because they are much cheaper. But if the BL Breakfast bar is THAT good, then I'll be stocking up on those. :D
  138. S

    Prep for starting!

For the 5 days before starting try and limit the amount of carbs that you eat. If you can keep it as close as possible to just 10%, then you'll find the first 3-5 days much easier. Also increase your water intake so that you can drink at least 3 litres of water per day.
  139. S

    Prep for starting!

Congrats on making the decision to do something about it, that is a huge step in itself. You will be in good company here, as I'm sure you have already noticed. Good luck on starting in around 2 weeks time and keep posting. :D
  140. S

    Dr Pepper Zero

Pepsi or Diet Pepsi then I'd agree, but Pepsi Max is another story. ;)
  141. S

    Wooohoooo..... Finally!!!!

Well done and keep it up - or should that be down? Anyway, I wish I was at that weight, as I'd be venturing back to normal food.
  142. S

    Getting Back Into Ketosis....

Sorry, yes, I should get more sleep!! :o If it's just a day or two then it's usually quicker and easier to get back into ketosis. But if that day or two turns into a week or two, then you really are starting all over again.
  143. S

    Getting Back Into Ketosis....

It will most likely be similar, but it really can vary. Some people do struggle to get back into ketosis at times, but "why?" is the big question.
  144. S

Perfectly Clear Water - Malic Acid - Drink as Much as I Like???

Yes, it's fine. :) It'll add calories to your intake, but shouldn't really make any difference.
  145. S

I would really like a Buddy

The BL bars are okay. They remind me of the Cambridge bars, but a bit tougher and taste a bit nicer. The Choc Crunch left a bit of a strange after taste. The Mint Choc Fudge was better because the mint helps to mask the slightly strange taste. I haven't tried the Fruit & Nut Breakfast bar...
  146. S

    OMG!!! BAAAD DAY

It's done now, so just put it behind you and move on. At least you found out that WS is a no go, I don't think it would work for me either. Good luck getting back into TS. :)

    dizzyness.....

As GSQ says, your body needs time to adjust. You can't expect to be fully active on 600 calories per day. Most people on a VLCD are suddenly having 1/4, 1/5, maybe even less of the intake they used to. Take it easy initially and then you can start to work out what you can and can't do once...

Total Solution Four stone in 15 weeks challenge??!!

I'm here. I'm doing great, other than no number 2's for 5 or 6 days. :( I've just ordered some Psyllium Husks which I hope is going to help prevent further problems. Might try some Movicol tomorrow. One thing I am looking forward to is a BL bar a bit later. :D
  154. S

    Bloated...

I find the shakes very filling and often feel bloated after having one. You could halve them and spread them out over the day if you wanted to. You'll have all kinds of strange noises going on, but it's nothing to worry about. :)
  155. S

    out of date shakes

They have been stored in my converted garage in the boxes they came in. It is generally the coolest part of the house and gets no sunlight at all. The 3 bars I had in one of the boxes are fine (5 months after their date) so I'm sure the shakes will be fine for a couple of months. Thanks...

    out of date shakes

I had 3 bars which were date for 17/01/11. I almost threw them away, but I tried one last week and it seemed fine. :o The only thing I wondered about the shakes is that a while back I noticed saw discussions about the milk powder in the Cambridge shakes going rancid. But maybe it was a bad...

    out of date shakes

    out of date shakes

Thanks, this is a very re-assuring post. :)
  160. S

    out of date shakes

I've got 2 months worth that are dated for next month, so I'll be using them up to a month out of date. Can't afford to pay £100 to replace them, so I'll just have to carry on. It's a shame I can't exchange them with someone who will use them before the expiry date. I also thought about...
  161. S

    out of date shakes

I'm sure other people have had the shakes when they have gone passed the date on the pack and I'm just wondering who holds the recorded for the most out of date pack used? :D But seriously, if anyone can let me know how far past the date and if they were okay, it would be very much...
  162. S

    Feeling down

Sorry to hear that you aren't well. I hope that you are okay to be doing Exante in your current situation. If so, then don't worry about not losing weight because of being inactive. You will still lose weight, because there is a calorie deficit.
  163. S

    He is such a pig!!

Let him continue. When you get to your goal, he'll be about 20 stone, then it'll be time for payback. He can sit and watch you eat your new healthy meals while he has to glug water and drink shakes. ;)
  164. S

I admire your willpower, or at least the intention so far!! ;) Good luck and enjoy yourself, but not too much mind. :D
  166. S

Tobasco sauce. :) Also, just keep telling yourself it's only temporary. The contents of these little silver packets is good for you and once they have worked their magic you can get back to "normal" food. :D
  167. S

I'd go for the lucky dip. :)
  168. S

    Noraml clothes!!

Excellent. Well done. :D I'm looking forward to more choice in clothes, but there are brands/stores that I will avoid because of their ignorance when it comes to manufacturing/stocking clothes in larger sizes.
  174. S

Do we get taller as we lose weight?

I think it will be down to posture, like Rachel suggests. I thought I was 5'8" and I now seem to be 5'7".
  175. S

    Wax on, wax off. :D
  176. S

First day on TS, and a question...

Men lose it quicker for some reason. I'm not sure know how much difference the extra meal per day will make though. If it was 3 meals a day you would probably lose at least 4 stone in the 10 weeks. You may still get close to (or possibly more than) 4, but there's only one way to find out. :)

    Other diet bars

Thanks for the great info. While I think the Exante bars are okay'ish, they do leave a lot to be desired. I'll try and get to an Asda some time this week to buy some Biggest Loser and Measure Up bars. Along with the Coke Zero, this is starting to seem like much less of a diet. :D
  217. S

    buying bumper packs

Yes, they have longer dates than Cambridge. Another advantage. :D
  218. S

    buying bumper packs

I bought 2 months worth a while back, but I only used a few packs. I am now close to the use by date, so will be using half of what I have after it is out of date. Not ideal, but I can't afford to throw them away and buy new stuff. If I had stocked up anymore the situation would now be worse.
  219. S

    buying bumper packs

I would buy one per month for now and save the money to get them as you need them. You never know what might happen. You could end up with £300 plus of Exante products that may not get used or maybe really need that money for something else.

Sounds like a good idea to me. :) I'm sure others could use this idea to help them keep on the straight and narrow. Like if someone finds weekends difficult, why not do AAM on a Saturday and Sunday? Would it really be so bad? Especially considering the alternatives that could very easily end...

  226. S

    Drastic gains and losses???

Realistically, you probably put on just over half a stone and the rest would have been water retention. That is why it went on so quickly and came off even quicker. I've just lost 16lbs in my first week on Exante, but I'd guess that about 10lbs of that was water. I was a stone lighter by day 5.
