Hi Emily, I used to follow your diary a long time ago, and always loved looking at your gorgeous pictures and recipes. Your Beef and Chorizo meatballs are still a firm fave in our house! Just caught up on the last few pages - glad to hear you are doing well in your new house and everything...

Old El Paso - Spice mix original smokey bbq

According to the Old El Paso website, this mix has 305cals per 100g and it's a 35g sachet which makes it 106cals or about 5 syns for the sachet, when split between two or three people I always think is worth it with those kind of things :)

That noodle dish sounds pretty yummy, might have to give that a go! I tried the cappuccino muller and quite liked it. I didn't expect it to taste so much like coffee but it really did (that's a good thing in my book, thought it was going to have barely any coffee flavour!)

Donkey's journey to deal with disordered eating and lose 6 stone!

I've tried the kale crisps. The kale itself is a bit bitter. I can't roast it while it has any of the litle stalks on as I think they taste awful so I painstakingly go through it all and remove them. I've tried it with salt and wasn't too keen because it's still quite bitter. I prefer it with...

    I hate vegetables

Keep trying with the vegetables. When I first started SW in Nov 2011 I only liked carrots and mushrooms. I really wanted to like veg to make my life easier and to be more healthy so I just kept trying different ones, and retrying them a while later if I still didn't quite like them. After doing...

    Hi I'm a newbie

Hi Helen, 1 stone in 7 weeks is definitely do-able. If you need meal ideas, have a look at some of the diaries in the Food Diary/Weight loss sections of this forum. Well done on another great day :D As you're doing it from home when are you weighing yourself? Have you chosen a specific weigh in day? I know sometimes it's tempting at home to weigh yourself every day but results can be really inaccurate as our weight fluctuates all the time due to water etc.

Donkey's journey to deal with disordered eating and lose 6 stone!

I know I'm just repeating what others have said but 1lb loss is brilliant! It's a nice healthy weight to lose each week. I know it can be disappointing but hey, you didn't gain? You didn't even STS - you weigh LESS! It's very unlikely to be 1lb every week but even if it was you're going to get...

Also, a little note that might be helpful to you. A Hex can be split. For example., you're allowed 250ml of milk and 30g of cheese but you can split that through the day and have 125ml of milk and 15g of cheese :)

    RYVITA HEX B?

Dont think the thins are a HexB (I WISH!),nor are the cracker breads anymore. Think all the varieties of regular Ryvita are though think how many depends on which variety. Think it varies between 2-4. Someone might correct me if I'm wrong.
  91. Chipmunk89

    A's and B's

I take it you are doing red or green if you are habing two A choices. You can use them however you like :) you can have more of the low fat versions usually 45g instead of 30g I think.

Yeah I've never been to a group as I don't think I would stay to Image Therapy as that sort of thing kind of makes me cringe lol so I refuse to pay to get weighed. I've had relatives/friends go to group before so I borrowed books from them when I first started and rely on Minimins and Google for...

Diary of a Slimming 20 year old.

Aww thanks. I lost 4 stone between 2011 and 2012 but last year was on and off plan constantly never on it for more than a couple of weeks and it creeped back up until I'd put nearly a stone and half back on! :( Determined to finally reach target this year. Good luck this week, when's your weigh...

    Advice Please!!!

When I went on holiday during my first time on SW, I just completely relaxed and had what I fancied. I'd put on 9lbs when I came back and I was a bit gutted to be honest, and found it really hard to get back into it at home. I did lose about 5lbs of that on my first week back on plan but really...

Hiya :) popping in to subscribe, I do recognise your username from the last couple of years :) I lost 4 stone between Nov 2011 and Nov 2012 and then put on nearly a stone and a half in 2013 so back on it to get back to lowest weight and hopefully even surpass that and get to target FINALLY...

Where the bargains are at and anything else thats useful.

It's so creamy and chocolately I just couldn't believe it was a HexA at first. It's really good for taking care of a sweet craving without feeling guilty for using syns... but I've been known to use syns for it too because it's just that good lol! x
  117. Chipmunk89

So what exactly is Slimming World?

This is a good thread that explains SW but it might be a little overwhelming as it's a lot of information to take in all at once. I'd maybe wait until you've had it explained at group and then if you're still a little unsure it might help you.
  118. Chipmunk89

Where the bargains are at and anything else thats useful.

I personally don't like them but I've never heard anyone else say they didn't! They just don't taste right, kind of artificial tasting to me for some reason. I do like the white chocolate one mixed with Quark though as a kind of sweet pudding/cheesecake topping. If you're looking for an idea...

    Motivation needed!!!

Yeah my mum used to have to blend even chopped tomatoes when she made spag bol etc because I couldn't stand the texture of them. Just keep trying little bits of new veg every now and again and you might find something you like. I'd never tried butternut squash before, and first time I did I...

You can have 35g of Bran Flakes as HexB now. Not 100% sure on the others as I dont use them but 1 extra light triangle for a hexb doesn't seem right... maybe someone else could help?

    Multiseed Hex

Its up to you. Its not part of the plan so if youre trying to follow it 100% then no you cant. If you're okay with tweaking the plan and accepting it might affect your losses then you could try it. Calorie wise its probably not much different but SW promotes healthy eating so its to ensure...

You can use the 1 syn for every 20 calories rule for things like the chilli mix that have no free food allowance. Check the calories on the back but make sure you work it out for calories for just the dry mix as some packets give you calorie info of whole meal made up as suggested :)

I have had some disasters - the SW kebab meat that everyone raves about, I made and thought was vile! Most of the time though, it's not that a recipe is completely awful - just that I've spent loads of time preparing/cooking a new recipe to discover it's just ok and SO NOT worth the effort I...

Extra Easy Should I use my full syn allowance or as few as possible to keep losing weight?

I think it depends on the individual. I don't think cutting out syns necessarily boosts your losses as even if you cut down to 10 a day from 15, in theory that's only about an extra 100 calories less per day. Syns are part of the plan so I wouldn't worry about using them as in theory it...

    Shake N Bake thingies!

I've not tried any of the shake and bakes but the Maggi So Juicy roast in the bags are amazing. So easy and really tasty, and only 4-6 syns depending on the variety which went split between 2-4 of you is not a lot at all.

    Maggi honey mustard chicken?

According to what ive found on sainsbury's website it is 348 calories per 100g of mix and there is 56g in the bag. 348 ÷ 100 = 3.48 × 56 = 194.88 calories in the bag. Divide by 20 = 9.7 (or 10 Syns) Isnt too bad if youre sharing it between 3 or 4 of you x

  167. Chipmunk89

does it matter if you miss healthy extras?

Itprobably wont affect your losses much (although calcium is thought to help with weight loss I think) however they are part of the plan and there to ensure rhat your diet is balanced and healthy. So while it might not stop you losing weight, you might not necessarily be healthy.

Maybe, but I'd already bought the jars to try so best to use them up and found adding regular coffee made it nicer. I don't even particularly like strong coffee, it's just that I find the flavoured ones are REALLY weak.

I agree, everyone was raving about them so I bought them and I found they DID taste of hazelnut etc but there wasn't much of a coffee taste, very very weak. Now I do a spoonful of DE and a spoonful of regular coffee and find it's much nicer.

    Extra syns

No, you have more healthy extras to maintain I believe :)

Lindsey's diary - no more messing about!

If you can't stomach it don't eat it. Healthy Extras are only there to ensure fibre, calcium etc. It even says on the SW website that not having them will not affect your losses, it's just to ensure you're getting the right balance of food so missing them for one day will do you no harm :)

Lindsey's diary - no more messing about!

That's the thing - you can always lower it need be. That's what I've done all the way through. First I aimed for 11 Stone, now my target is 10 but I think when I get there I might want to aim for 9, 7 as that's the top end of my "ideal" weight in BMI but I think I'll look far too skinny any less...

    McCain Home Chips (Straight Cut)

I believe they're the rustic ones. It says on this thread that they're 1 Syn per 100g but that was 2011 so could have changed slightly by now :)

    New year, NEW ME!

I don't do the saving thing very often but I have done it and lost. I think as long as you don't go mental you should be fine. I prefer to have them daily rather than save them because I know I'll be tempted to go mad and have a big binge if I have lots to spare. xxx

Lindsey's diary - no more messing about!

I was 14st 8 last November and I think it took me till the end of August to get under 11. However, you're always very organsed and motivated so I think its definitely possible but I think if I were you I'd set a slightly closer target just so you're not too disappointed if it doesn't happen...

    McCain Home Chips (Straight Cut)

I was just wondering if anyone could give me the Syn value for these? I've searched but can't find one for this exact type of McCain chip - and any that look like they might be right are from 2011 or previous so want to check it's up to date. These McCain Home Chips are the ones I'm looking...

    Cupcakes Anonymous

Hi there, well done on coming on here and making a positive start. I'm 23 and have been doing SW at home for the last year and have lost 4 stone so as long as you're in the right frame of mind, you can do it! I know uni is full of temptation with takeaways/nights out etc but just remember why...

    New year, NEW ME!

Hey, well done on making such a good start :) Don't be scared to eat your syns though, you don't seem to have many. I actually find I lose better when I eat most/all of my syns than when I limit them :) They're there to be used, so next time you feel like an alcoholic drink treat yourself to a...

Why do you love Slimming World?

I love that you can virtually eat anything you like (within reason of course) and still lose weight. SW is the best thing I've ever done.
