Quarterly Challenge, April, May, June, Summer 2016 !!!

Your loss gives me confidence that salads, veg and fresh fruit is the way to go. I have a serious chocolate addiction that I need to address. Weigh in tomorrow will be a bit iffy but then it's another week.

Thank you. I am determined not to spend any longer in the 12s than I have to. Eating salad for one meal a day was a no hardship - it was drinking 2 litres of water a day that nearly did it for me! Shows what a difference it makes. How are you getting on?

    I can do it!

I hit a target and a switch goes in my head. "You're alright now - go for it" You'd think I'd have learnt by now. Baked for a barbecue last night - what a mistake. Started with finger licking, bowl scraping, crumb clearing and finally tasting! You know the routine...... Feel sick I with myself...

I buy loads of fruit as snacks ( probably too much.) slices of pineapple hit the spot. I also have mugshots from time to time. They are syn free and quite filling. Finally my staple of ryvitas, low fat cream cheese and a smear of jam. SW equivalent of a cream tea!

Well the weekend approaches - a time when I think we all struggle to stay the course. I try to be extra healthy during the week so that I have some slack. Welcome to the Sunday club. We are few in number but strong in support! What brings you to slimming world? Sundays work for me as I use Sunday as my treat day (weigh first thing in the morning) I am not much of a party animal so it doesn't bother me not drinking at the weekend. Knowing I am...

    Super Challenge

What exactly is the speed challenge? It's a long time since I belonged to SW and I am behind with the terminology. Reading between the lines it sounds as if it's a way to boost losses by eating certain types of food? What sort? Would love to join in but as you can see I am in the dark!

    On your marks, set, swing...!

I am three weeks post op and feeling really good. Started back on KBells last week - slowly at first with 5kg weight. Managed all three sets of week one core on Friday so chuffed with myself. Tomorrow I will do week one resistance which will finish the first week. Just have to be careful with a...

    I can do it!

Welcome CathD. great to have some company What brings you to SW? As you will see, I use this thread to keep me focused and one of the key things for me is meal planning. If I know what is ahead! I tend to stick to it. When I first came across SW there was no such thing as extra easy. The...

Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

Hope you enjoyed your trip to the UK. Any planned visit to my MIL is fraught with the same problem - table groaning with chocolate cake and homemade biscuits, bowls of trifle and a freezer full of icecream. All my usual vices. Like you, we now visit unannounced more often than not. A trip to my...

    Secret to shaping up

Delighted to report that I completed both sets of week 1 cardio this morning. Was going to stop after 1 but felt OK so decided to carry on. Already feeling it in my inner thighs and glutes. Have decided to reinstate my old routine of 7.15 start on alternate days, with Sunday off. Worked before...

    Give up added sugar challenge?

Chocolate - just read up on this. Recommendations - eat high cocoa content ie 70% and above. Check ingredients label to make sure sugar is not first on the list. Which brand has lowest sugar content? I am on a mission....

    I can do it!

Am still chomping my way through a giant puffball mushroom. Imagine a large football, white and with the texture of marshmallow. Absolutely amazing. Takes on the taste of the ingredients it is cooked with a bit like tofu. So what's on the menu for tomorrow? Mushroom soup???? Tomorrow's menu...

    Give up added sugar challenge?

I've been toying with this for a while now as well. Happy to join forces and give it a go. I have masses of fruit that needs eating up, courtesy of a friend who sent it instead of flowers following recent op so will also avoid added sugar. Does sweetener count? Tend to agree that cold turkey...

    I can do it!

Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

Another way of visualising weight loss that works for me (idea pinched from a friend) Get 2 identical glass containers and fill one with marbles or coloured beads - one for every pound you want to lose. As the weight comes off, transfer the bead to the empty jar. A great reminder of what you...

    I can do it!

Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

My heart goes out to you. However brave a front you put on it, it's always in the the back of the mind. I am fortunate that surgery has eliminated the problem and am now focused on getting back to full fitness and a healthy weight. I lost 4st two years ago and have put almost 2 back on. The good...

    Secret to shaping up

Did my first kettle bell session for 9 months yesterday. Joined Ryan for week 1 cardio using 5kg weight. Took it steady and couldn't do more than set 1 as I could feel a slight tugging in my neck from op so decided to call it a day. Felt amazing and so fired up to continue. A bit stiff this...

Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

On cloud nine! Nothing to do with weight loss though..... I was given the all clear by the consultant on Friday - no malignancy. hooray!!! Apparently the growth they removed from my neck weighed over a pound! Hard to imagine, especially as it didn't show from the outside. No wonder I was...

    Secret to shaping up

Aymz I used to do the 6 week reps which worked out at one cardio, resistance and core every week (I used to have Sundays off) and I stayed with the same weight for 12 weeks. Even when I went up a weight I still had to use a lower weight for things like the gunslinger ( not sure if that's the...

    Secret to shaping up

I'd love to join you swingers again! Bit of history - I started using KBs at the same time as starting slimming world 2 and a half years ago. Lost 4stone and changed my shape completely. Felt amazing for someone who had been your typical anti exercise couch potato! I credit much of that to...

Fantastic comeback M Louise! Knew you could do it and I am confident you will be able to control the munching monsters in the UK. I had surgery just over a week ago and am starting to feel like my old self. Problem should now be behind me so I intend to get on with life. I start from here at...

    I can do it!

Have just been inspired by a poster on the image therapy thread to retrace my steps back to last year when I was losing steadily. I have asked myself how I felt at that time and I had to admit it was "blooming marvellous" I used to leap out of bed full of energy and confidence. I took great...

Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

Don't knock it. Maintenance is good and gives you a good foundation for a second push. Like you I reached a plateau (11 7) and got frustrated dreaming of a 10 stone goal. Ended up piling it back on as I buried my head in the sand but thankfully I came to my senses before it had all gone back on...

Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

Well I am sat reading (supposed to be) but my mind keeps wandering to all things salty or chocolate. My brother bought us a large Lindt egg which was sat on the table taunting me. Holidays - great time for being outdoors (exercise) more time for food prep (healthier food) new clothes (show off the bod) or binge eating and lounging around. Which would you prefer? What I do is think what I could have done differently. Eg chosen healthier meals, eaten before I went, had...

Well done Louise. 6 days out of seven on plan will be great. Yesterday I spent the morning constructing a greenhouse (yes it's still a work in progress!) Sunday Weighers... or is it only me?

Thanks M Louise H. I adore veg so that approach should work for me. Winging it isn't working as I keep changing my mind about green or EE meaning I do neither one nor the other. Haven't done kettlebells for about 6 months as I am unable to raise my arms above shoulder height without feeling I am being garrotted! Secret to shaping up

I found that the changes start to show after week 4. You need to put in enough effort for a gentle glow! I used to puff and pant during each session and have to admit that poor Ryan got a fair bit of abuse from me. However, 20mins afterwards I felt amazing. So worth the effort and quite...

    Secret to shaping up

I've also been absent for a while and have begun to realise how big an impact Ryan had on my weight loss. Anyone want to set themselves a goal for this week? I am aiming for 3lb and as it's my first week I have to admit its achievable if I behave.
