    Thursday Weighers

2,5lbs off, and finally got my Club10! First loss in a while as I've been in and out of hospital for the last couple of weeks, and it feels good to be back on track after a little while in the wilderness.
  2. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

Sts this week, but as I've hardly eaten anything this week owing to being in hospital with kidney stones, I suppose it could have been a lot worse.
  3. luce28

What are you using your syns on today?

Cornflakes. Had a craving for them, so had a massive bowl of them earlier. Will stay syn-free the rest of the day.
  4. luce28

Don't you just hate it when....

... you wake up at am with intense abdominal pains, get home from A&E at 6am, then have to back to hospital at 10am for more tests. Think I have kidney stones, what a nightmare.
  5. luce28

*Almost SYN-FREE* home-made soft cheese - in any flavour you like!

Check the label, if it doesn't say there is sugar, it will be free. Most "natural" yogurts don't contain sugar.

Don't you just hate it when....

... when you fall for a credit card scam (this one: http://guardian.co.uk/money/2012/may/23/credit-card-users-phone-call-courier-scam?cat=money&type=article) and lose £400 to a fraudster. Feel like such an idiot! Seriously thought I was smarter than that, but it turns out I'm not.

    Thursday Weighers

Had a bad diet week - lots of appointments for "afternoon tea" etc, and I took last weekend completely off plan (seriously, there was a lot of wine. A LOT) as we had guests. Completely astonished that I still managed to lose 2.5lbs! I'd been planning to avoid group as I was so worried about...

    From 16's to 15's

Hello new thread! I lost 4lbs this week, and I'm so pleased to be joining you here - I started at 18st 5lbs nine weeks ago, it's so good to be seeing the numbers going down!
  10. luce28

  11. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

4lbs off and SotW! So pleased after a couple of weeks of very small losses, only 1lb away from my 1.5 stone award now!
  12. luce28

What are you using your syns on today?

Tbspn brown sauce 1 Calippo 5
  14. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

0.5 off for me, but I'm insanely pleased, as I was on holiday in Cornwall last week, and have found it extremely difficult to get back into the groove this week as a result. A tiny weight loss for my body, but a massive weight off my mind.
  15. luce28

    tesco's fresh cream

Just search for cream. It's a basic.
  16. luce28

What are you using your syns on today?

Chip shop chips. We're on holiday, and you can't go to the seaside without fish and chips! I had my cod grilled though, and with mushy peas. We're trying to have just one "treat" a day and really enjoy it, rather than just going all out. That said, we're having a day off-plan tomorrow so we...
  17. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

I'm on holiday so not weighing in this week, but just popping in to wish everyone good luck tomorrow!
  18. luce28

What are you using your syns on today?

Bottle of cider - can't find it on the app, so I'm reckoning on it being around 11 syns.

    50 shades of grey books

Sorry, that made me ROFL! Porn *for* mummies, not porn about them, sadly. It's a lousy description for the genre, regardless.
  20. luce28

Don't you just hate it when....

DYJHIW your husband-to-be doesn't invite you along to a night out, then when you ask why says it "just never occurred to him", and he invites you along 30 minutes before he's due to leave. So now we're both feeling like crap on a Saturday night. Thoughtless asshat.
  21. luce28

What are you using your syns on today?

Pitta bread - just had a lamb kebab for lunch.
  22. luce28

    tesco's fresh cream

    1.5 Syns per tbsp:
  23. luce28

    Youngs Fish cake

Thing is though, that the 20 cals per syn has always only ever been a rough "rule of thumb" anyway, as it will usually slightly overestimate the amount of syns - which isn't, actually, such a bad thing, tbh.
  24. luce28

What are you using your syns on today?

Fresh cream Victoria sponge from M&S, was my last day in the office today. Now, how many calories in an eighth of that, I wonder?
  25. luce28

    Youngs Fish cake

Yeah, I've seen you say this on lots of threads now. Which legislation are you referring to? And do you know the SW official line on this? It might be worth starting a thread explaining this rather than commenting on *all* threads, maybe? The mods could make it a sticky?
  26. luce28

    Pepperoni

    1 syn per 20 calories - sorry!
  27. luce28

    Sainsbury's Wholemeal Pitta Bread

    Is that because they're unleavened?
  28. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

1lb off! Nice, as I got my stone award! MrL had a little gain from a couple of sneaky pints of cider he thought I didn't know he had ...
  29. luce28

    Pepperoni

Any particular brand? But normally it would be 1 syn per 20 calories, as there is no free food allowance.
  30. luce28

    Boots latino salad

Do you have the nutritional information from the label? One syn per 20 cals is the normal rule.
  31. luce28

Low syn Stir Fry Sauce, or flavouring of some style needed!!

As long as there is no added sauce or anything, then they should be free - it's just chopped veg!
  32. luce28

    Sainsbury's Wholemeal Pitta Bread

I keep seeing people say that, but my book says you can have "60g of any wholemeal bread", surely that counts?
  33. luce28

    Crackerbread?

Home & Bargain is a chain a bit like Wilkinsons, a bit random what you'll find in there. I found Wholemeal Crackerbread in Sainsbury today, really enjoyed having them for lunch, not had them in years!
  34. luce28

    Whats for tea tonight?

Aromat is great on SW Chips. I use something called "Lawry's Seasoned Salt, which contains paprika as well, and makes them taste a bit BBQ-ish. Hard to find though, as it's an American product.
  35. luce28

Don't you just hate it when....

  40. luce28

    whats for lunch

Couscous with leftover turkey Jalfrezi, which MrL cooked last night for dinner, and was so terrible that he couldn't eat it himself. Poor lamb *really* needs to learn to cook.
  41. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

Don't you just hate it when....

It was about brides getting ready for their weddings. They forgot to mention my blog though - I only did it for the flipping publicity! Not naming them till they make corrections. Just hoping it was an on-line only thing, I'll never live it down if my family see it in the paper itself.
  45. luce28

Don't you just hate it when....

You're interviewed, and photographed, by a national newspaper, and they get your age wrong. By five years. And then they forget to mention the ONE THING you said was vital. Damn them.

Or, just have something chocolate. You don't have to overboard. Yesterday is yesterday.
  49. luce28

    I need a chocolate bar ;(

I always have grapes in the freezer for those moments. No, it's not the same as chocolate, but they're sweet, and they take a while to eat, so by the time you've got through ten or so, cravings tend to have died down.

Why are there calories in Costa/Starbucks coffees???

It's because the "free" milk you use at home is part of your healthy extras. You can knock six syns off the value of a coffee shop drink, if you count the milk as a HEA.
  52. luce28

    Whats for tea tonight?

Roast lamb with mustard and garlic crust, SW roast potatoes, braised celery, roasted vine tomatoes. Red wine.

    Extra Easy Help!!!

I work three jobs, and still find the time to cook - SW recipes don't have to chain you to the cooker, but, if you're not prepared to make an effort to help yourself, then the results you want will stay just that, something you want, but not something you can have. hea and heb

Just what's in the book. If there was anything else, it'd be in the book! You can check online though - occasionally they change the amounts, or brands. Hexas and Hexbs are selected specifically to balance out the eating plan, to give fibre and calcium, etc, so it's a good idea to stick to them.
  76. luce28

slimmers with lots of stones to lose??

6lbs in two weeks is an excellent loss though - slow and steady is the way to go. Anything from 1-2lbs is good, to be honest. 3lbs a week would be an almost eleven stone loss in just twelve months, think of it that way. You didn't put those eleven stones on in just a year!
  77. luce28

    SW chicken nuggets

That *really* doesn't make any sense!

"Butter" chicken receipe from the new SW Magaszine

I guess that would depend on the curry powder that you used. I like a "medium" strength powder, you can make it hotter by adding Chilli's etc, if you wanted.

    Microwave rice

M&S used to do one that was free, but they discontinued it. So annoying, as it was really handy!

    Batchelors savoury rice

God, I go through so much Savoury Rice for lunches, it's not even funny! I usually jazz mine up a bit with added peas and sweet corn, and ham too, sometimes.

    Whats for tea tonight?

Sorry! It's from the Curry Heaven book, Classic Chicken Curry: brown an onion in Frylight, then fry spices (curry powder 3tbsp, plus tsp each of coriander, cardamom, ground cloves, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, plus two garlic cloves chopped fine and grated ginger root) with the onions add four...

    Surviving the Weekend

You really have to plan. Keep lots of fruit around, lots of low syn snacks (the Low Syn Snacks book should never leave your side, if you ask me) and you can, of course, build in treats to the diet anyway, you'll be surprised how far they'll stretch!

    Whats for tea tonight?

Absolutely loved my curry, do simple too!

    From 17's to 16's

I felt the same when I lost 7.5lbs in my first week, and my partner "only" lost 5lbs in the same week. Anyway, well done!

    Whats for tea tonight?

Syn-free classic chicken curry, with rice and broccoli. It's simmering now and smells AMAZING! Never made a curry from scratch before.

    Toby cavery

Yes, just make sure you remove all visible fat from the meat, and try to avoid veg that looks like it's been cooked in fat. You'll have to Syn most everything else.

    From 17's to 16's

Hello! Can I join, please? I started at 18st 5lb two weeks ago, and now I'm down to 17st 9.5lbs, astonished that I've lost almost ten pounds in just two weeks! The forum has been an excellent source of inspiration since I started (though I've mainly been lurking) so thank you everybody!

    Whats for tea tonight?

Syn-free chilli, and SW chips. Chilli was made on Tuesday, and it's been maturing nicely in the fridge since then!

    Thursday Weighers

2lbs off, taking me to 9.5lbs off in two weeks, delighted!
  154. luce28

What i did NOT resist today!

Beef Wellington, and a slice of cheesecake at a wedding. And discovered my other half had "forgot" to ask for slimline tonic in my G&T! Oh well, weigh in tomorrow, but tomorrow is another day.

Is anyone else a SERIAL weigher?

I keep meaning to buy some new scales, but this thread has made me too scared to!
  156. luce28

    Whats for tea tonight?

Chilli from the Extra Easy cookbook, and no rice because we discovered a moth larvae in the jar! So is everyone from near Cheshire Oaks? I used to live just down the road from it, but moved to London a few years ago, and I still miss "The Oaks"!

What are you using your syns on today?

No syns today, going to a wedding tomorrow ...

Slimming World - HiFi Bars What is your favourite one?

I love the mint ones, but my consultant only ever seems to have the mint and lemon ones, which isn't that bad really, I suppose!

    Slimming World App?

A few of my friends keep mentioning that there is a Slimming World App to keep track of Syns etc, but I can't find it on the Apple app-store anywhere! I think it'd be really handy, does anyone know what it's called? I can find the "introduction" one, but ... I recall it not being very good...

    phobias

Not really a phobia (and it's getting better), but feet make me panic. I can cope with the fact that I have feet - but if people start talking about feet, or worse, start playing with their feet near me, I really freak out! They're disgusting!
  162. luce28

    Thursday Weighers

7.5lbs off! Utterly delighted, and really pleased that my partner lost 5lbs in his first week too! Nearly a stone off between is already - I wouldn't have believed it was possible!

    Thursday Weighers

My first weigh-in later today. Terribly nervous. Have spent all this week realising just how big I actually have let myself become, and being ashamed of myself for letting it get so bad. I'm hoping that a good loss tomorrow will help me get over myself, and set me on the right track. Luckily...
