WI'd in this morning - a 3.3lb loss. So here is the updated list :)
Slimmingbabe (0lbs lost - 12lbs to go)
Loopyluc (2.4lbs lost - 5.6lbs to go)
Scoobysue (0lbs lost - 8lbs to go)
VicLouGray (3.3lbs lost - 7.7lbs to go)
(My favourite euphemism for my monthlies is 'finding out I'm not pregnant' but thought that might be a weird thread title). Anyway, back to the reason for the thread...
I've unfortunately come on today (and as someone who has anaemia this is not fun) and was wondering how this affects weight...
Welcome! My 2 main bits of advice are track everything (even if you have an off the wagon day) and plan ahead. i find WW online very easy to use but recommend getting it on your phone too so you can track on the go.
Good luck!
So I'm very lucky have a secured myself a very nice work placement for my year in industry. To try and save money I'll be living with the parents (could be interesting) and committing from outside Leicester to Nottingham every day. A grand total of 3 hours. In an effort to save further money...
Try and leave a bulk of your weeklies for unplanned events. (I save around half). It might mean you can go out for those spontaneous end of week drinks or sudden meal out without ruining the week's weight loss.
I've just restarted at home this week. I don't to weekly meetings as I live in about 3 places throughout the year - I'm a student who is based in Cardiff, home is Leicester and is doing a year on placement in Nottingham. I've done it once before at uni but lost motivation after 1.5st loss and...
Not too bad. I have an old injury that has flared up a bit so going just take it slow for a few days and see how it goes from there. Hoping to day 2 towards the end of the week.
Hello
I'm back on WW after a big pile on and am coming across new problems with my new job. I work in a call centre so there's not much time to eat properly. Everyone tends to just grab junk from the trolley and eats between calls. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for low points snacks...
It was quite enjoyable actually! It has showed me how unfit I am, though. I did manage to fall down some stairs today though so day 2 will have to wait a couple of days... Not off to the best of starts!
So today it begins again. Chosen Sunday WI as it means I have to be accountable all weeks to enjoy the weekend. I've just done my first weigh in in about 8 months 18st dead. Not good considering I was 16st when I started WW 18 months ago. Here we go!
The last couple of days have been a mixed bag. I've been having big breakfasts (lean bacon and sausages in a bap) to try and get through my revision (and exam at lunch today) but had a WW fish pie for tea last night and yummy (but slightly fattening) steak enchiladas for an early tea and some...
Thank you UKSerena. I'm just finding it hard to have any will power at the moment with all my time and energy focused on passing out of first year. Snacking is something I really struggle with so was just annoyed that I gave into it.

Today hasn't really started but will be a hard...
I'm a first year Genetics student at Cardiff Uni.
It's currently going horribly :/ I've just found out that I'm anemic which means my red meat consumption has sky rocketed. And I'm taking my exams so my eating habits are all over the place. I've got 6 days left until summer so I'll just have...
About gaining weight during exams - i forget to eat which is necer good and my metabolism is all messed up so the weight piles on when i do eat (healrhily or otherwise). It just has always has happened this way.
So today has been better food consumption wise but i'm feeling a little yucky so haven't been able to stomach 'real food'.
Today has consisted of 2 crumpets, marmalade, wholemeal toast and low fat spread. Less than 15 points which i know isn't healthy but at the moment i don't have the stomach...
Thank you for all the good ideas. I know :( i'm only a first year so we always get the rough deal in my school because 'it doesn't really count' and we 'should learn to cope'. I suppose you're right though - my exams are much more important but i just want to look better for summer as shallow as...
So after a horrendous day and a horrible bread binge I've decided tomake myself more accountable. I may not stick to posting on here every day but it will be nice to be clensed when i have **** days. I hate carb binges :( they are my weaknesses.
I'm still considering whether to join a meeting...
Thank you :) Good idea with the cereal. I'd never thought about that... I'm not a good person exam mornings so it will certainly eliminate the stress. Budget wise is not too bad at the moment. My loan comes in a week tomorrow and I'm only back for about 6 weeks as my exams are so early.
I'm a student (so basically never have any money) and use online. I find it and the free online app very useful and it stops me cheating half as much as I would without. If you use topcashback you can also eventually get some money back :)
Hope this helps
x
Hey :) Looking for any advice on current/recent uni students who have good ways of not putting on tonnes of weight during the next few weeks of exams.
I've just got my timetable through and it's awful. I'm rushed off my feet for 2 weeks with 6 exams with only a day in between which means I'm...
I'm coming crawling back! I've found it more difficult to manage 'going wild' on the weekend and end up with no points by Monday or Tuesday so I've slowed somewhat. I'm going to try changing back to see if it makes a difference. Can't WI at the moment anyway as my scales are at uni and I'm home...
I paint my nails - you can't eat while they are drying or they will smuge which my pet hate. By the time you've done a couple of coats in front of the tv or with music in the background the craving has dulled somewhat.
I'm a jack of all trades :) am part of a society at uni where i do ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, commercial and street. I'm teaching tap as of next term but cutting down on everything else to focus on my studies. Xx
I do a bit of everthing - primarily a dancer but sing and act too. It's all taken a bit of a backseat for uni work but i miss it a lot. Not the skimpy outfits that went with it though...
I've found that my confidence was the thing that stopped me from being noticed by the opposite sex, even when I was bigger than I am now. I'm a little inexperienced compared to some of you (just in my first year of uni) but have found on nights out that I've been approached much more since I've...
Yes :) Part way through my second term of first year and have lost more or less a stone since christmas. It's not easy but if you're happy with slow weight loss it is possible.
I've been part of a exercise based society and have found that has helped me but you seem to be on the right track :)...
Thank you :) i'm quite well toned for the weight i am because i dance A LOT ;) so under the flab i actually have some quite strong muscles so just need to lose some to find it...
Don't worry you'll soon be catching me up. Good luck and have a nice easter weekend.
Xxxx
I know it's not a wi related sucess but i got in to size 16 super skinny jeans! Definately means a step in the right direction :) Hope all is going well for you all xx
I'm not doing fantastically myself at the moment. Have managed to maintain my weight this month. So I suppose that's better than if I wasn't dieting...
Last minute cramming usually equates to last minute eating in my case. Have an exam tomorrow afternoon so have saved up all my points so I can eat as terribly as i like tonight. Hope all is going well for you all
Haven't done so well myself - put on 3lb in a month :( so back to 15st4. But back on track today! I want to be slimmer for summer... Good luck to you x
Going away next weekend with my uni dance soc. which can only mean 3 things:
Surrounded by ultra skinny people in shorts (I also have to wear TINY shorts :/)
No control over food. I've never been there before and the hotel has no fridge facilities so I can't even take a pack up!
Lot's of...
Sometimes. But I find if you think like that you end up falling off the wagon because you've 'ruined it'. That's what they are there for. You've still got 40 odd more to use (or not). You're doing a lot better than I did in the first few weeks. x
Don't worry :) we all have them. I had one earlier this week and now am poorly so can't eat anything. So goodness knows what my scales will say sunday.
I know people who've used more than their 49 weeklies without much exercise and still lost. So you're not out yet xx
For me it's a fine line. If I'm too busy I stress eat or make bad choices. I've just got to find the balance. It is one thing I have found with weight watchers is it's made me a lot more aware of what I'm eating and the choices I'm making. Just hope I can keep up the enthusiasm. It can be awful...
I don't really go out much myself probably about once a week. But when I do - it's never as quiet as we intend. I love a good night in as well. I just like to keep myself busy. Stops me from eating.
Don't worry. I do get asked a lot but it's what you get for specialising early.
This year for me is about 1/3 lab work and 2/3 theory. Doing a bit of all the main fields of biology: zoology, ecology, biochemistry etc. at a basic level.
The next few years is mainly inheritence of infectous...
Not for a while. Still in my first year so either 2 or 3 years this summer depending upon if i get accepted to do a year in industry (and if i pass theselast set of exams!)
Doing biosciences which becomes genetic bsc after this common 1st year.
Given myself a while because of the junk food...
That's reassuring :) I still feel a little guilty using them. I want to have some nice slim photos of uni to look back on and ultimately graduate slimmer.
Thank you. I've always been overweight but saw a photo taken at the end of last term and I finally appreciated how heavy I'd become. Uni perhaps wasn't the best time to start loosing weight, but I suppose if I can do now I'm more likely to keep it up.
3 isn't bad at all. It's the first time I've...
I'm a few points over because tea (I'm part catered) was a little on the indulgent side today. But I still have 10 weeklies left until WI sunday. So fingers crossed.
Thanks guys. I know I can do it as I managed to loose half a stone through my exams and the party afterwards :) The issue I have routine wise is my school keep messing us around and moving lectures at the last minute which leaves me with no set routine at all.
I've invested in some weight...
I'm having a really hard week and worried about the consequences. I'm on my 4th week and managed a loss every week so far. However, I've just got back into lectures and exercising properly again so my routine has completed changed.
I'm feeling the urge to eat all the time, even if I've just...
I do weight watchers on my own through the online tracking tool but I make sure I weigh in at the same time every sunday so that I know that what I'm doing is worth it. But I have gotten quite bad at having mid week peeks so need to rain that in :/
How does Cambridge work? x
I am currently working through a great book 'Adore yourself slim'. It makes you actively think about your issues and how to address them.
Hope your weight loss goes well x
Great way to fund your goal weight wardrobe :)
Up until today I hadn't really noticed and even now it's only at certain angles. But it really hit me about an hour ago when I caught myself in the kitchen window earlier. My flatmates say they notice a difference but I suppose the changes happen...
I might be :D I've managed to loose half a stone while doing my exams and not exercising (they don't run dance classes during the exam period) and in less than a month so who knows. I wasn't all that happy the first time I looked at the scales but it gave my the impetus to actually stick to...
I'm lucky that they do. I think that's why the said the shorts. To them my size is not an issue so they don't realise that it is for me. Just have to hope I find a pair I suit :/
I'm officially aiming for 12st but just want to find a dress size, weight and overall look where I feel happy with...
We were just told. It's all about uniformity and stand out a bit because of my weight and I don't have long hair either :/
Nice to find someone with a similar amount to loose :) I'm aiming to get to 12st and reassess from there. If I feel comfortable I'll stick there or I may loose more. I'm...
Yeah. It's a uni dance society so it's a 3rd year who has set the routine and taught the class this term. Everyone else was happy to go for it so I didn't really want to complain. Thank you :)
I'm a dancer and have been since I was 3. I've always been overweight but my dance teacher has been quite good at putting me in costumes that suit me. However, have just moved to uni and have been asked to wear shorts (very :/) for our competition in a month. I'm currently a size 18 but hoping...
I didn't have a fantastic week last week but I kinda just had to say to myself that it doesn't matter if only loose a little (or sts or even gain) it's just a bump in the road. I was lucky enough to realise why I hadn't lost half as much and to me as long as you can identify why it's not gone...
I struggled most with week 2 so maybe you'll fly through week 3 :) Congratulations on your loss.
Lost 3.75 this week so back on track after last week. And I got my first silver 7 :D
Good luck to everyone else with their WI xx
Congratulations :) Lost 3.75lb this week as I've been rushing around less since my exams finished Wednesday and have managed to get a bit more active. Got my first silver 7 - so pleased :D Good luck to everyone else WI this week xx
I try as much as possible not to use my activity points but track them none the less. It helps me be aware of how much exercise I am doing in a week and see if it makes a difference in my weight loss.
There's no such thing as messing up! If you tell yourself that it's far too easy to give up. Just a little bump on the road down... You will have bad weeks (like I know I'll gain or sts this week as it's the end of exams party) and soon you'll be able to tell if you've had a good or bad week :)...
The weight issue is something I struggle with - to be honest I hadn't even heard of PCOS until I went to the doctors for something unrelated. But know when I mention to others they see it as an excuse when it does cause issues for weight loss. I've followed the WW plan to the letter but my...
Well done! Only lost .5lb this week so quite disappointed. Had a very tough week of exams and blew a lot of my points on not forward planning. Still a loss I suppose, slightly closer to 14st but not as much as I would have liked :/
Thank you so much!!!! I've really been struggling with chocolate cravings lately... It's a difficult mindset to get into - I'm on a diet but can have everything I like in moderation. So I've been trying to resist it so I don't feel guilty afterwards. But this will make it easier :)
I know this an old thread but am currently going through the hell of diagnosis. Am currently 18 and have suffered with irregular periods for over 3 years now. I have all the major symptoms: acne for as long I can remember, terrible hair growth, horrible mood swing and irregular periods. However...
Thank you. I'm quite lucky most of my trips out are for a couple to the pub. But hopefully I've gone public so my friends who take me out can try and steer me away from the takeaways when I'm doing the classy stagger home.
Good luck to you too :)
Am currently at the top end of the 15s (15st9) and at the start of what will be probably be a very long journey. Am struggling a bit after a pretty good 1st week (-3lb) due to exams changing my routine and my flat and course mates getting lots of takeaway for convenience. Hopefully can get back...
Thank you :) I'm not a massive drinker myself so it does make it slightly easier. I'm hoping that moving out of halls will help as I'm part catered so don't have the chance to make the most healthy choices at dinner. Determined to do it before graduation so will just have to bite the bullet
Are there anyone trying to loose weight at uni?
I'm a first year at Cardiff Uni and doing weight watchers. I'm finding that I'm struggling a bit because of my flatmates/friends attitudes towards food and alcohol. They appear to be able to just eat what they like without putting on weight (lucky...
Thanks :) Well done to you too! Am struggling a little more this week because I'm having to change my eating routine to fit round my exams but still well within my points so hopefully I can keep it up.
Hey.
Looking for some 'proper' sweets so I can still eat them when my flatmates do (in moderation of course) so that I don't feel left out. Have quite a sweet tooth and have struggled watching everyone around me eat them of an evening/weekend and I can't.
I know I can use up my 49 points but...
I am too. I'm not out and about at the moment... Just in revising which means I don't really feel the need to eat. Might have to start eating slightly more so my body is used to what it is supposed to have. :/ I think eventually I get to a stage where I'll be able to work out an average for the...
I only get evening meals and I don't get told in advance so I kinda have to leave enough points for roughly what I might get. Thanks, it's nice to know. I'm just a little bit uneasy as I fall off the wagon a lot and want to do it right.
35. I don't cook for myself. I'm catered as part of my halls but they've agreed to give me all the info I need. Struggling a bit with adjusting to be honest.
Have just started weight watchers in the past few days but am finding that I have ProPoints left at the end of the day (and I mean a considerable amount - 8 or 9 a day).
Is this okay? I feel like I'm eating for the sake of it to ensure I have all my points.
-I have a naturally skinny brother so tried to keep pace with what he was eating
-I love food that is bad for you
-I always have been
-I was too scared to be skinny in case guys still didn't notice - and it still scares me a little
-I had always been the fat friend so it was never mentioned
I had a similar horror moment myself when trying on clothes in the changing room next to a size 10 goddess. Finally decided to start changing things for the good this time. Good luck to you! We can do this x
Hello from a newbie. So, I'm back on the diet after falling off since starting Uni in December and being to stressed and concerned about fitting in to do anything about it. But now I've got a term under my belt and wanted to be able to look good for graduation in a few years (and help on the...
