Dew Drop Inn!! Hour x Hour, Day x Day...

Hello all :needhug:

I joined the forum this morning and am not quite sure what I'm doing yet but in a bid to complete my first 50 posts, I thought I'd post what I'm doing at the moment...mainly sitting on the sofa, looking like a lost wee soul, watching the food channel and torturing myself!

Will have been on LL for 2 weeks as of tomorrow and have not found the second week too bad...until today. My tummy sounds as though there is an angry person in there trying to get out! I'm sure watching Nigella rustle up tasty treats has not helped. I also feel very tired all the time but I think that is to be expected. Woot, 49 posts to go! ;)

Welcome Autumn Leaves
:welcome2:
You can be up to 50 posts in no time.
I'm glad you find the forum supportive - the before and after's are inspiring aren't they?
I think most of us have experienced the gurgling tummy - hopefully there's a lot of water sloshing around in there!
I'm glad you are not finding it too bad. Strange that so many of us torture ourselves in the early days by watching "food porn"!
You are not alone. You'll see quite a few suggestions on here about finding things to do to occupy yourself, like having a bubble bath, giving yourself a manicure, pedicure, go for a walk, read a book or magazine, little personal treats.
I look forward to watching your progress.:)

I'm a freak - I don't have a TV !!!!

Weirdo! Only joking :p;) Do you watch stuff online or listen to the radio instead?

We're probably all guilty of the mindless TV eating thing... it's been one of my main problems I think. That and my innate Scottish desire to get the most for my money, so always buying the largest of whatever it is I'm ordering... :)

Ah the joy of being Scottish. It is in our genes!!!!

Wow, so many fellow Scots. Definately blaming my culture for my weight.

Hello and welcome

Do not watch food programmes, its just not worth it. Plenty time for that once you are at your target :)

Yes Debbie - you're right - WEIRDO!
I do listen to the radio a lot - currently GOLD - An ELVIS programme -34 years since he died at 42 - the KING

As for you Scots - all those fried Mars bars lol ;)

I remember Elvis' death. Very sad and very young :(

As for the deep fried mars bars (plus chips of course), may I introduce you to the concept of a deep fried pizza. As in, cook the pizza normally and then stick it in the deep fat fryer and serve with chips. And if you dont fancy that, then a doner kebab pizza might tempt you :9529:

And I havent even started on the drink! Everyone in my family just assumed I was pregnant cos I wasnt drinking. That is a very sad state of affairs. Most people I know couldnt stick to the plan as they couldnt not drink for such a long time! :ashamed0005:

Yes, we Scots do like a good drink, don't we? The number of people who've told me they couldn't do this diet because they couldn't go without drinking is incredible - and that's in England! In Scotland it would be just about everyone!

And what about the ciggies in Scotland? :smoke:

Thank you Debbi and Slenda for your replies and welcomes! :) I am not quite up to date with how to get around this forum, where to post what etc so I hope you will see my reply here (I am probably supposed to post on your individual pages but will be up to speed soon I'm sure lol)

I definitely have LOTS of water slooshing about in the old tum at the mo...I have never felt so waterlogged! ;) It's been doing the trick so far though and I am determined to keep it up as I have already noticed the difference in my skin. I use to drink coke a lot...so much so that I should have taken out shares in the company! All that sugar was definitely doing me no favours and my skin already looks so much clearer, even in under two weeks, that people are already commenting on it! Always nice.

I really will stop looking at the 'food porn'...well, I shall try anyway lol. It sounds silly but even though I feel hungry nearly all the time, I derive such pleasure from the thought of eating that cooking shows(which I never watched before) are currently satisfying a psychological need it seems, even though they do nothing for the physical. I am sure they will 'sort out' my thinking in class this week! The other night I actually went through the motions of 'eating' an invisible sandwich! (Oh the shame...'tasted' good though:D)

Everyone's posts in this forum have been a blessing over the last fortnight and your weight loss is so inspiring...but I must admit that yours, Slenda, is one of the ones that I was most drawn to as you were of a similar weight to me when you started(and had a similar amount to lose) and it is truly inspiring to see how well you have done. Also...you look amazing!!!

Thanks again ladies, I appreciate you taking the time to reply :gen126:

Thank you Autumn Leaves,
You have posted in the right place and we can see it.
You're doing fine.
I like the phantom sandwich - whatever works for you ......:)

Hi Autumn, and welcome!!!

Hey, if watching food porn gets you through - then go for it. I watch cooking prgrams all the time....and read cookery books, etc. I find it satisfies my cravings in a vicarious way.

Its not doing any harm, if it is helping you. If you at all feel it could tempt you, then that is another story - but it works for me too!!

All good luck to you!! This is a great forum for support, so do use it and between all the banter on here, the rapid losses on your scales and the increasing complioments as you go you will find the time sails by!!!

:( I cannot get rid of this cold. I have ben coughing for 15 days. Its affecting me at work - I have had to abandon calls because once I start, there is no stopping. My chest feels as its been kicked in, and my throat feels like I have been eating glass.:yuk:

I want to stay home, but have rubbish unsupportive employers, and have no sick pay, so I have to go to work. And this just makes me want to .

Why wont it go away? :(

I thinks I am going to see my doc tomorrow and get on antibiotic or something. This is just getting beyond stupid.

Not a happy bunny.

Yep, thats what horrifies most people I tell about the plan! 'How will you cope without drink for that length of time?' Gee, maybe cos I'm not an alchy and I can!!

And what about the ciggies in Scotland? :smoke:

Good point...I'm not a smoker, I hate it. My younger cousins all smoke, its seems to be getting worse instead of better.

If the food porn does it for you, then bash on :D I cant, it just makes me want to eat, so I completely avoid tv/food mags/my huge collection of cookery books. Time for them later :)

Aw BL, get yourself to the doctors. Sounds like you need something xx

Good luck at the Doctor's hun. You've been hanging on too long. Hope they give you anti biotics to kick it on it's way.
Hope you get better real soon. xx

Thanks BL for the welcome :hug99:

I had week 2 weigh-in tonight, lost 3lbs. Am currently trying to get into 'you wanted more but that's still a good loss' mode lol. My rational side is telling me that week two is notorious on any diet for being the one where you don't lose much as your body is still in a shock of sorts from week one...but I still thought it would be more. Was expecting 5. Bad idea to have set that in my mind as nothing is more frustrating than having your expectations dashed! Better not to have expectations at all.

Have struggled with the food packs more in the second week and was hoping I'd see a little more on the scales to give me a boost but hey ho, there will be weeks like this and I suppose I just have to think 'that's 3lbs I'll never see again'.

Definitely think food porn will be a bad idea this week Debbi ...feel sooooo hungry tonight! *slaps herself* :sigh:

A day at a time....a day at a time...

Thanks pal. :)

Just back from the doc. I have a bad viral infection, so bed rest and penicillin is my future for a few days. :(

I hope Penicillin is OK to take? But has to be done - I dont want this to turn in to walking pneumonia, which is what they symptons apparently sound like. So best follow docs advise.

Off to inspect the size of my horse pills now.

I hope you are feeling better too. I miss you. Damn germs. If you are up to it lets aim for next weekend assuming I am in the clear and you feel up to a visit. I need a Debbie fix. :D

xx

Sorry to see that you're feeling so unwell BL  Never fun! Hope you feel much improved very soon :hug99:

p.s. Horse pills is right! It's always when swallowing is most painful that they give us the gigantic pills lol. Sadists!!! ;)

Get well soon BL. Walking pneumonia is not good. ( ps you know that giving up smoking will sooo help lol another sign to give up maybe?)
