Dukan Recipe Thread

I cant help with either of those things hun, but I'm sure someone else will be able to. x

I don't have any aromas but I think Jo does (although she's on holiday) so she'd know better. I did find a French site that sends to the UK (will cost you though! 15€) but the actual aromas aren't expensive (I thought) since they last for ages as you only need a drop. Some are on offer too just now.

This is the site.

(Sorry, it's not translated to English).

Hope someone can help with a UK stockist though.:D

Jo's back hun. So I'm sure help will be here shortly. x

I will if I can find nut aroma, Not sure if we get it here?? Is that like Vanilla essance but nut flavour?
Also does anyone know how to make quark? Cant find it here and am sure I read it some where about mixing cottage cheese and Ex light philli or something along those lines????? Maybe Im wishing..LOL xxxxx

Hi you can also use Total 0% Greek Yoghurt, or fat-free Fromage Frais. They're all quite similar, a virtually fat-free white cheese thing, and only have subtle differences. I've been mixing and matching them according to what I can find. I don't think mixing cottage cheese and philly would come anywhere near what you need.
In my Sainsbury the Quark tends to be in the specialised cheese section whereas the Fromage Frais I can only find in Tesco, by the plain yoghurts...

The flavourings are a french thing, you buy them mail-order, and quite a few of the original Dukan recipes use weird and wonderful, nut, praline, etc flavours.
I think here you'll only find vanilla and a few others commonly used in baking (find them in the baking ingredients department).

It is a similar consistency to 0% greek yoghurt - could you subs that?

Chocolate or ginger cookies

2 tbspn oatbran
1 tbspn wheatbran
1 tbspn sweetener
1 tspn cocoa or 1/2 tspn ginger

combine all dry stuff and then add water - about 5 tbspns if you want a big thin biscuit and about 3 or 4 tbspn water if you want one smaller but thicker cookie - enough to bind the ingredients together.

Bake at 180 for about 15 mins then leave to cool. Bloody marvellous.

Grateful thanks, Manda.

(I need a bigger bran allowance)

Me too. If you made it quite runny you could probably make in a silicon muffin tin and get 6 smaller bickies out of it. They just taste nice and a bit like something you shouldn't have! I think my next evil experiment may be to try a rhubarb cookie with little bits of dried rhubarb in and some spices - a bit like a squashed fly type biscuit.

Oh I need these cookies now to dunk in my tea. Do you think they're up to the job?
Can you use sweetner instead of sugar?

Edited to get rid of menus. Sorry no recipe!

(thanks Nikki)

Hey Laura, I think you mean to put this in the menu thread, not recipe thread. xx

Vegtable Soup - PV

So today i made a winter vegtable soup which was amazinly filling and warm and lovely =] James is off paintballing tomorrow so he’s taking most of it in a flask for lunch, hopefully there will be some left over for my lunch though =p
Ingrediants:
2 parsnips peeled and chunked
4 carrots peeled and chuncked
1/2 swede chunked
- any other vegtables you fancy i put broccolli in mine
2 med leek sliced
1 med onion sliced
pepper to taste
stock made to 1 litre – i used bullion

Method
put fry light in large pan and add the leek and onion fry gently on medium heat for a couple of minutes till they just begin to soften then throw in all the other veg and put a lid on, turn the heat right down and let the veg sweat for 10 mins stirring occasionally.
Add stock and seasonings bring to a steady simmer cover and leave to cook till all veg soft (30 – 40 minutes) add more boiling water if required and skim any frothy gunge.
Finishing
If you want chunky soup then chop the veg initially to a fairly even small dice. I like it smooth so I use a blender or for a medium texture just use a potato masher to break down the lumps.

OMG can we have parsnips?????????????????????? My fav.

I'm a BIG parsnip fan. As you know, we can have carrots and beetroot once a day only in Cruise because of their carb content. Unfortunately parsnips are worse still. So I'd advise very sporadically only... (or don't touch beets/carrots for a few days!)

Once every 2 weeks would keep me happy. I'd feel I was having a proper roast then. Oh, you've just made my day :)

i am not a parsnip fan but my partner is hence the small amount in there and a treat for him once in a while.
oh and the carrots - use as many as you think, i used 4 because i bought a bag and they were all stupidly small the biggest one in there was about 3 inches. oh well its what you get for buying value stuff =p

another reciepe for you guys:

So the other day i discovered the only good thing to come out of oat bran. I will be honest i have been very naughty and havent had any oat bran for two months (i dont believe it has affected my weight loss and my system copes fine without it TMI =p) but i was really cold and craving some sort of warm filling winter food. so why not porridge?
Recipe:
2 tbs oat bran (amount dependant on phase)
Water
Skimmed Milk
Vanilla Extract
Sweetner
Mix oat bran and just enough water to cover – microwave for 1 minute.
and milk to consistancy required (i like milky porridge but save half my milk till after heating so it cools it down and i can eat it straight away =p) and heat for 30 seconds.
add 4 drops of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of sweetner. mix and enjoy.
I have to say this is my new favourite snack. the best thing to even come out of oatbran. it was so good i wanted more. i might even go as far as saying i might have my oatbran daily because of this =]

Mmm this has been my staple breakfast since week 1. I love it. I have since discovered that if you leave it 2 or 3 mins it goes thicker. Roll on breakfast :D
