Em's diary

So if you're shopping for anything in particular in the future i would HIGHLY recommend the fashion advisor service at John Lewis. We ended up being there for about 3 hours in all, and the lady we saw brought out loads of stuff that i would never have even considered trying on before. Suffice to say I've found an AMAZING dress, it looks bloody fantastic on and managed to come away with everything else I needed for the outfit too, including bolero, shoes, underwear and fascinator. I know you're all as nosey as I am, so if you want to see the dress it's here: Buy Phase Eight Frill Mesh Dress, Lipstick online at JohnLewis.com - John Lewis

Food was a little sporadic, as it turned into a really long day, but was oatbran galette, homemade burgers, yoghurt cake and beef jerky mostly.

Food today:
B(runch): quick spiced toast with quark spread
D: roast chicken with roast squash, vegetables & bbq sauce
S: smoked salmon, quark

You are going to look fab!
Even when I get to goal, I'll never be able to wear a dress like that as I have very large hips.
I'm envious! :jelous: :D

PS How much is oatbran in Sainsbury's please?
Tesco have increased the price of theirs by 50%!!!!

Sainsburys are selling it for 1.40, and sainsburys is only down the road so it's where i do most of my shopping anyway. i was trekking round to tesco for a bulk buy before, but not any longer!

That dress is GORGEOUS :) (and I can't wait to see a photo with YOU in it...). :D

There will definitely be some pics of me in it - I intend to collar a photographer at some point for a couple of really nice professional ones with the OH :)

I think I'm going to put him in a hot pink tie to match :D

quick update for today:

B: cinnamon galette
L: 4 crabsticks, 2 slices turkey meatloaf, quarter tofu cake
D: chicken breast, pack of prawns

Hi Emma nice to see you back, I just had to make time to say hello:

wow what a dress - stunning! I'm sure you'll get plenty of compliments and double-takes! Cool about the personal shopper, glad you had a good time. From your description I might consider trying this the next time I need an outfit like that (hmm, probably never, or maybe one of my daughters may be getting married in about 30 years)

definitely try it, it's a free service and they're not on commission - they get paid the same if you spend £20 or £200! i'll definitely be going back next time i need something - it was a fantastic experience.

Whoa, Em! You are going to be looking as slinky as hell in that dress! Really can't wait to see those photos!

Being ultra-nosey, I'd love to hear what colour of bolero and what the fascinator and shoes you also chose look like, please?

Aw, man, you'll blow everyone away when they see you. We'll need to read a blow-by-blow account of all the fabulous compliments you're going to get! :)

The bolero and fascinator aren't on the website, but the bolero is also phase eight, it's black and has a kind of horizontal rib which ties in nicely with the ruffles on the dress.

The fascintor is a headband - a pink flower in the middle surrounded by black, with long pieces with the tiny feathers on the end. It's quite big and bold, though that's really the look i'm going for.

Shoes are Carvela, black peep toe in suede with a healthy heel :)

i know you didn't ask, but since we're going the whole hog the bra/thong set I got is here: Buy Freya Lyla Balcony Bra, Amethyst online at JohnLewis.com - John Lewis

am very excited about the whole thing, and just need bag/jewellery now, and to sort what i'm doing with my hair!

Thanks, Em. I thought it might be a bit rude to ask to see your undies! ;-)

I think it'll all go together perfectly. I really love the ribbing detail on the bolero - as you say, it'll complement the dress's ruffles beautifully.

Reiss did have some incredibly spherical bags a while ago, but there don't appear to be any on their website now. These are lovely from ASOS, though:

That bolero is nice. Does it come in sizes?

yes, the one i've got is a 10 (!!!) i don't know what size they go to though.

thanks for those links dd, i tried but our internet at work has blocked them as sexually explicit, so i'll check them at home. there are a few nice ones on ebay i've found - i want something black and vintage-y with some blingness, then big earrings and a big bracelet/cuff also in black with sparklyness.

but our internet at work has blocked them as sexually explicit,

Yikes! I had to doublecheck the links to make sure that I hadn't accidentally somehow managed to link to a weird porno handbag fetish site! (I'm guessing that either the work settings are oversensitive or that ASOS has a section selling naughty things.);)

don't worry - our internet is over sensitive at work - no social networking, gambling, job search/development, sexually explicit or hate sites!

food today:
B: cinnamon galette
L: 4 slices turkey meatloaf, quarter yoghurt cake
D: 200g turkey & 120g prawns in luc lac marinade

Thanks for the suggestion Emma, I took the first step and got myself measured for a new bra - FINALLY! I knew my current size was too big inthe back but was expecting to go to 36A, well the nice lady seemed to think I was a 34B, she even had me trying some 32s, and I have to take her word for it! Feels a bit tight across the back but I'll just need to get used to the new feeling. I now own a nice little pink CK number, that very nearly give me some cleavage?!?! Anyway, that's increased my bra-buying choices tenfold, 38AA was a tricky size to find!

I also looked up your dress in real life. Yes I can see what you mean by something you would never have tried by yourself, there is barely anything on the hanger ;-) but it will look stunning! and very clever style and construction too.

Yay Anja, i'm so pleased - now you know your proper size you can find some real bargains on ebay too. i tend to save about a tenner on shop prices, and they're still brand new with tags!

i think i'd forgotton to mention actually, i'm down ANOTHER cup size - 32f now - i wonder if they'll stop shrinking?

the fashion advisor appointment has definitely changed how i'll shop in the future, i'll be trying on stuff that i would never have considered before. I said it before, but i honestly can't recommend it highly enough.

Gosh Emma, it's so inspiring seeing the transformation in you! And Anja too! Both of you have changed so much as a result of losing your respective weights. I don't know whether either of you realise how differently you post now to before. Anyway it's lovely to hear/read/see.

Nearly time to have another go at Conso Emma? Or are you going to hang on in Cruise a while longer?

Emm - if you get a chance, check out the end, particularly, in the Portia de Rossi book. I found it very interesting.
