O/T - Jobs/Careers

Hi all

There certainly are some interesting jobs on here. I'm an Events Manager in a University. I organise graduation ceremonies, prestige events and other stuff. I also organise overseas events so I have been lucky enough to see a lot of the world. I do appreciate that I am fortunate but honestly do see it as a job as opposed to a career - sitting in an airport on a Sunday afternoon away from the family isn't really that much fun.

I work is a HMRC call center. I manage 12 team leaders who in turn manage 11 staff each. I also make Bridal Jewellery and Tiaras.

Dear God, i probably spend all my time talking to you! Me and the HMRC have a interesting relationship! :p

I love this thread- got half my wedding planning done now ;) I've already decided I'll get Lexie to make my Wedding Cake and PurplePixie to make me some jewellery!

I have never had a real career, but had various jobs before kiddies arrived, mostly in retail, many in supermarkets. That's where I met h2b- he was my manager! I am a fully qualified Nursery Nurse, although I took the course at 16 so my parents wouldn't make me get a job. I have never wanted to work in a nursery, my mum used to be a nursery manager- underpaid, over-stressed and bogged down in paper work. She now works in a radiology department and from what she has said, I'd hate to work in any sort of Emergency Department

I'm currently a full time mummy, but when my youngest starts half days at play school in September I'm considering doing a part time chemistry degree. My dad develops oral liquid medicines- his job fascinates me. He goes to parties and can tell people he was the the brains behind medicines like 'Tixylicks', cancer treatments and even a liquid form of Viagra. I want that job! Always quite fancied being a midwife too...... I'm not sure I'll ever find my 'calling'

I'm also loving this thread, it really is fascinating to find out what everyone does for a living. It's also giving me some great ideas - I'm doing a bit of soul searching at the minute, I feel a career change looming! xx
