Why are Slimming World leaders fatter than WW ones?!

I've ever seen a SW consultant who isn't slim! My consultant broke both her wrists in a fall & had help from 5 other consultants from our area one week - every single one at target!

I've had 3 consultants and stand ins for hols and all have been a mixture some overweight some thin some middle of road it varies but don't we all

I guess it must just be where i live-the one I had before I had my son was about a size 26 BUT again, she was fantastic at her job and knew SW inside out (she left to open a run a Post office, but that,s another story!)Another members husband worked in the same place as her in her 'day job'and every day she had pie and chips and said 'I cant be bothered with the diet again today!' Like I said its not a problem just an observation!

Consultants should be living proof that SW works.
doesnt matter what size they are but when you join if they say I've lost ....... amount doing SW or I've gone from a size .... To a size .... Then it doesn't matter whether they are a size 6 or size 20 something.
As long as they are showing that the plan works and they have lost weight that's what matters.

the fact should be that they have lost with SW as they say "practice what you preach" x

Thank you! this sums up EXACTLY what i meant to say-you,re a star!

I'll be honest, I don't understand how you can be a good consultant if your not into the plan at the time yourself, so if she was saying oh I can't be bothered with it again, I don't see how she could give good advice ect... but she obviously did manage it. Even the people I know who struggle at times who are good at giving advice about the plan don't say ''oh can't be bothered with this diet'' as they understand what a great plan it is, they just also understand that sometimes its hard to get your head into it

Exactly Donna- as Mrs Wilsoncroft succinctly put it 'practice what you preach'
Thats all I meant! Ever wish you,d never started something? Lol!

This is a really interesting thread! Although no-one should be discriminated against on the basis of appearance, it stands to reason that some might question the plan itself if the consultant does not appear to be sticking to it. However, if she's good at her job, who cares her weight? If she has the right info and is motivating, that's all you can ask for!

Another thing that has come up is whether she is healthy at her size. Being a few stone heavier than I am now (and I'm no waif now!) but still smaller than a size 26, I would argue that it is very difficult, if not impossible to be that size, carrying that much extra weight, and be truly healthy.

I guess it depends how you define healthy.

At 28, 5'7, 17st and a size 20, I had low cholesterol, low blood pressure (below average), good blood sugar levels. I had sciatica on and off, which was caused by lifting a 30kg box at work when I was much younger and lighter. That aside I was fit and healthy.

My doctor told me that I had no health problems and that while being overweight in the long term could cause me health problems when I was older, that at the current time I was fine and not to worry about my weight.

I'm not stupid, I'm a healthcare professional and know the long term risks so I decided to take action, but you can be overweight and still be healthy - you might just be storing up problems for the future.

Well I agree with that; it's ok when you're younger but I'm 50 and my knees are starting to get arthritic and sore because I'm heavy and I know that type 2 diabetis is a distinct possibility as my mum has it and I'm the same shape as her. Therefore, I thoroughly recommend to all to get the weight off while you're young and don't waste your health and your enjoyment of life for any longer!

PS I dont mean to be self-righteous there because I'm fat and speaking from experience

Youre welcome Hun, I must admit I did giggle when I first saw the thread because I did think ouch someone's opened a big can of worms here but I know exactly where you're coming from I think it just came out abit wrong lol.
but I saw the light hearted side of it xxx

The way I see it is....

You wouldn't go into a hair dressers and be looked after by someone with dirty greasy hair.
you wouldn't go to a dentist if they had half their teeth missing or were badly rotten etc.
you would go to a beauty salon if the staff weren't groomed well.
you wouldn't go to a gym /personal trainer looking after you who is really huge and out of shape so why should we go to a slimming class where the consultant is not setting a good example of how it works and living proof it works! xxxx

The way I see it is....... You wouldn't ask a alcoholic to help you give up the booze. You wouldn't ask a junkie to help you come off drugs,

I think you should give the person a break who started this thread, everyone has their opinions and freedom of speech,

:)

i loved your post too Hun, I think people need to lighten up, the poor woman has apologised enough times & made it clear she didn't mean it in a nasty way etc xx

Not in my mind, but we are never all going to agree on this issue do never mind :)

Im not gonna judge someone because their bald, my point was you wouldn't go to a salon if the hairdresser had nasty greasy hair! If they were bald it wouldn't bother me the slightest xx

Looks like we're gonna have to agree to disagree because no one will ever be happy & the last thing I want is people turning into keyboard warriors lol!
any how, let's stick with the original topic which is about fat consultants lol ;)

Lol!!! Lets all be friends and loose weight!! But personally I think it's mental for someone to be obese and at target???

Altho-going by the hair dresser and beauty therapist analogies you're all using-it reminds me of a story/dad joke my dad used to tell us!! if there were 2 salons in a town and the person working in salon A had bad hair and nails, but the person working in salon B had great hair and nails, which one would you go to??!! The answer would be salon A!!! Because the Person is salon b would get their hair and nails done by salon a!! Absolutely nothing to do with the thread really, but just proves that each case should be taken on its individual circumstances!! And that no one should be judged by their appearance!!

I will still be obese at target :( I didn't think that was a bad thing but now I feel really weird about it

13st13.5 is a weight I know i'll be happy at and 3stone less than I started at....

(I realise it wasn't a personal comment to anyone in particular but I feel quite sad that people could think its mental)

Don't feel weird Jezz. Obese is just a label based on bmi right? Those "Worlds Strongest Men" (as an example) are all mega fit, mega healthy, yet I'd guess all are classified "obese". You'll know when you're healthy and happy to call target :D (I hope anyway, I'm still some way to go lol)
At my personal Target, I too will still be "Obese"... having reduced from "Class III Morbidly Obese" that is good enough for me!
Just a label.. don't we all love labels.....
