Its true your metabolic rate is higher with more muscle, the main advantage with weight training though is when on a calorie deficit (dieting) if your doing strength training you will lose more fat and less muscle. If on a calorie deficit and NOT doing strength training then the weight loss...

How healthy is your healthy eating plan?

My lifestyle is completely different to 4 months ago. Then i lived on chips, pizza, beer etc with no fruit or veg at all. I did no exercise whatsoever. Now i tend to eat a lot of veg, i get a tonne of fibre as well. I tend to eat a lot of fish as well. Exercise is the most dramatic...

How do you know when to stop?

For me the decision not to lose more weight was a few things 1) My BMI is now well within healthy range 2) My partner has made it clear she thinks i would be gaunt with more weight loss...and look fine now 3) In losing weight i got quite into weight training- and found it very hard to make...

    30 bananas a day.

My feeling instinctively is a 30 banana a day diet would not be good. Fruit is undoubtedly good for you and should be part of any diet. However- it is quite high in sugar, and id view sugar as a bigger enemy in terms of weight loss than fat... as everyone knows it causes chaos with insulin...

    Your reasons for losing weight??

As one of the few guys here ill probably have different reasons ;) 1) Im a small build naturally, so going from my natural build of 168lbs to 196lbs really showed, and i hated how i looked, the extra chin, the big tum etc 2) I had a lot less energy, also it was affecting my libido.. my...

New dieter- all going well with one problem.

Hey rachblue, thanks for the response. Ive started taking a few nuts a day now to get some fats into my diet- im really reluctant to add more fibre though as i eat about 40-60g of fibre a day already, far far more than i used to get. Ive thought it might be related simply to the fact im...

What exercise do you do and how much?

Hey I do 25 minutes weight training 4 times a week, and for cardio i play kinect sports for an hour twice a week (much more fun than gym!) I view the weight training as more important than the cardio for me, because i think losing lean body mass will lower my metabolism.

What Made You Want To Lose Weight?

For me it was a few things really, i couldnt get into old trousers anymore so could see my waist going up all the time, and i hated the site of myself in the mirror. I would keep a t-shirt on at the beach because i hated how i looked. When i saw myself on pics, all i focussed on was the chins...
