    Am I eating too much?

Are you eating until you are satisfied? Or eating just for the sake of it because it's free? If you are eating until you are satisfied then it shouldn't affect your losses, providing that 1/3 of the plate is superfree. If you're eating for the sake of it because it's free, thne eventually it...

Does anyone else find they can only succeed on one plan?

I prefer EE, I just can't get my head around counting weights for potatoes, and don't like wholegrain pasta on red, and weighing meat on green... It's so much easier to just have them and make sure I have 1/3 plate veg/salad/fruit. Plus I find it easier to make the meals that my family enjoy...
  9. Mummy_Helen

    EE question!

Yes if half the recipe was leeks and you had onion, then yes it would be EE, and the added apple... Def EE :)
  10. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

I'm doing lamb shanks in the slow cooker with a syn free minted gravy. Will serve with roasted baby pearl pots and honey glazed parsnips, roasted peppers, courgette and chunky onion. Will have to wait til after WI though...sigh! On the plus side, I think I'll have salivated 10lb tonight just...
  11. Mummy_Helen

    EE question!

That depends on whether the leeks (and any other veg) made up 1/3 of the whole bowl/pot. Potatoes don't count as super free, so providing the leeks covers 1/3 it would be fine, otherwise you would need to add either more veg, or have a salad or fruit either before or after.

How do you plan on tackling xmas

I'm planning to stick to it 100%. I'm not a big drinker, so that won't be an issue, and I'll be making some of the sweet treats from the christmas recipe book, and we have a big tin of celebrations, so I'll have a couple every day, and try to stick to plan. Christmas night and boxing day we...

    Aspartame headaches

I have to say, since I changed my sweetener from aspartame to sucralose based, my headaches haven't been anywhere near as bad. Asda do both granulated and tablet form NON aspartame based sweeteners, and tbh I think they taste nicer. Splenda is also non aspartame based, but more expensive.

New starer - EE or red/green

It really depends on you. I think it's trial and error as to what works for each person. I do EE, but thats because I love having meat/ potatoes and veg all together, but there are lots of people on here that do either red or green or a combination. Also some people lose better on EE, and some...

    Mince Pie anyone??

I ordered some tesco finest all butter mini pastry cases yesterday, they work out at 2 syns each, then added half a tbsp of mincemeat (1 syn) and then made my brandy cream (½ tub quark, 2 mls brandy and sweetener - makes it syn free since it works out at 0.2 syns for the lot) and added a little...

    Feeling very de-motivated..

Do you use all your syns? If so you could try reducing them and see, but to be honest, you seem to be right on track, 1-2lb is bang on what SW recommends, and although it may take a little longer to get there, it's more sustainable than losing weight really quickly.
  29. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

We're having fish pie tonight :)
  30. Mummy_Helen

    Actifry

I do my sausages in there, BNS chips, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, wedges. To make them super yummy, spray with fry light and add some seasonings. My favourite for baby new potatoes is cooking them whole with some classic barbecue seasoning.

    1/2 a pound of possitiveness

Have you been measuring yourself? sometimes I have a very small loss or a STS but I notice that I have lost inches instead of lb's. If you are exercising quite a bit then it could be an answer. Help...

I thought the eat smart sausages weren't free anymore, because of the 'new recipe'? And sugarsnap peas are superfree, it's regular peas that aren't, but it still wasn't a 1/3 of each meal, so you do need to add extra veg/salad/fruit
  47. Mummy_Helen

    Whats for tea tonight?

I fry a load of onions in fry light, then add beef stock and bring to the boil, then I whizz it (either in the blender or with a hand blender) and the onions thicken it to gravy consistency and give it a yummy flavour. On another note, our tea has changed since I noticed a tub of quark needs...

    potato scones

I've just made some, since we're having a brunch fry up anyway, I actually got them down to 0.5 syns each! Ok so they're slightly smaller, but you can still have as many as you want to count syns for. I used the recipe above, but then made 10 balls of the mixture, then rolled them out and...

    Week Off

I had a week like that where I'd been naughty and still lost, just be careful because sometimes it takes a while to catch up... You might be lucky, but when it happened to me, I lost that week, then gained the following week. You may be lucky though, fingers crossed x

    Tuesday Weighers

    1 lb off for me:)
  58. Mummy_Helen

    Annoyed

Pasta and bread always do that to me. I hate any kind of portion control, so I just limit the times per week that I have pasta or bread. I couldn't give them up completely but reducing the amount of times a week helps me.
  59. Mummy_Helen

How do you plan your meals?

Following the other post with an idea for menu planning, I thought we could share how we plan our weekly meals. We might even get some inspiration from each other. I usually sit down on a sunday (I do my shopping on monday) and think about what I really fancy, whether it be on plan or off plan...

Sometimes I gain and don't know the reason for it, don't give up, it happens to us all at some point. Sometimes there's a reason and sometimes there isn't. Changing my target weight

I never set a target weight, at least not yet, I told my C that I would set an intrim goal of 11 st and see how I feel when I get there. My problem is, I don't have a weight in mind, I just want to get into a size 12. When that happens I'll be happy.

    Iron pills question

I drink 3 litres of water a day plus green tea on top, so I think I'm drinking enough. it's not the fibre that has clogged me up, it's only been since I started taking the iron pills. I spoke to my dr this morning and he's told me that I would be ok with senna at this stage, so I got some...

I've recently been told I'm anaemic, although I can't figure out how because I eat lots of red meats, and dark green veg, but anyway... The dr put me on iron pills, 200mg 3 x a day. The problem is... I've become... Clogged! What can I eat, or take that will be on plan but help loosen things up...

  99. Mummy_Helen

    help needed

Yep, I also include a lot of veg into my dishes so that I don't have to have the 1/3 seperate on the plate. As long as the veg equals to 1/3, doesn't matter whether it's seperate or included in the recipe.

There will be weeks where losses aren't as great, it's never an...

    Any other 5ft 9"ers?

  119. Mummy_Helen

    Replacements/alternatives

For the mashed potato, I find that adding some milk and a laughing cow EL triangle (either 1 syn or part of you HEA) makes it nice and creamy.
  120. Mummy_Helen

    Syns

It's not that you CAN'T lose weight not having them, but as you get closer to target, you may plateau, and your losses more than likely will slow down, and you will have nothing to cut back on to kickstart that weight loss again.

I agree with that completely, much better to go under than over. I would still invest in a set of scales though so that you can make sure that you are getting the daily requirements for a balanced healthy diet. You'll also need it for cereal and other things too.
  124. Mummy_Helen

    help plz

Yes but low low is reduced fat cheese, so she can have 42g not 28g. 28g wouldn't be enough to class it as a HEA. If it's the processed slices then yes, 2 is a HEA.

What happens at Slimming World group meets?

My C never mentions gains, she will mention losses but never mentions a gain. And she will not reveal your weight to the rest of the group. When she goes around the class and asks the question of the day, she will say "So and so has lost 2lb this week... what is your answer to todays question?"...
  127. Mummy_Helen

    help plz

It depends how thick the slice was cut. If it wasn't enough then you can't really class it as a HE and if it's too much you'd have to add syns to it. If I were you i would invest in a cheap set of kitchen scales. You are allowed 42g of reduced fat cheese, I'm guessing that a 'normal' slice of...

    Low syn chocolate truffles!

So long as they are in an airtight container, I would say a week. I can't say for sure because mine have never lasted more than a week, but I did have some in for 6 days and they were still fine. (My kids found them and ate them all :() I'm going to make some more next week.

    Loss of appetite

I've found that I need to reduce my portion sizes now, when I started I'd have huge meals, and be satisfied, but now if I made those same meals again, I would probably leave half of it. Maybe my stomach has shrunk? Anyways, you could try having slightly smaller portions and see if that helps?
