Diary of a Disheartened Slimmer - round 2!

Hi Jodie, Just browsing threads and I read about your cooker. Belling are a good brand, my mum had one that lasted donkeys years and I had one for about 10 years. Only changed it because I wanted a fan oven and the model I had didn't have one. Fingers crossed yours will be as good!

Licking the Lid of Life....my esoteric diary

Those soup mugs are very watertight too. Mine was left full of soup rolling around the floor of the car for a weekend (was the last thing on my mind after my daughter was rushed into hospital) and no leakage at all. Daughter was ok by the way, was bad IBS rather than the appendicitis first...

    Healthy extras and pregnancy

Just checked on the SW website and they recommend you do EE and have 2 a and 2 b choices. If you go on the website and search for pregnancy in the features section there are some articles with good info. Congratulations :-)

    Free food

I agree, portion size is very important and the way SW measure that is the 'feeling satisfied' bit of the plan. To my mind it isn't stressed anywhere near enough in class.

    100% today?!

I'll join in too if that's ok. Hoping to be 100% for the whole of February with no alcohol (counted in or not). I tend to drink several times a week and a stressful situation at work has made that gradually increase. So hoping to break one habit and make another.

    Calorie Counting with Choc_bananas

I'm also trying CC having done SW previously. I lose weight easily with SW but I don't learn new habits so I keep yo yoing. I think it is the portion sizes I need to work on so CC makes sense. Your plan sounds good, I might think about having a day or two where I eat more calories whilst still...

    Recommendations for new scales

I have searched the forums and whilst I'm sure thus has been discussed I can't find it. I have been a SW member for a while but am becoming disillusioned and I think calorie counting would suit me better. Problem is the scales we have are rubbish. Need to invest in some accurate ones. Digital...

    Prioritising Me

Lost the plot - 2 birthdays and a Ruby wedding in a fortnight. Don't think I've gained too much but I'm struggling to find the motivation to get back on track between now and Christmas. :-(

    Prioritising Me

Not great. Gained that pound back this week. I know why and it's making me feel guilty for being annoyed by it. The main reason I am struggling is because I am spending all my time making sure OH has the food he needs and I am ignoring my needs. I started doing Extra Easy (I lose better on red)...

    Prioritising Me

So, this week I lost 1lb. Ok, it's a pound and they all mount up. So I should be happy. But I'm not. This was all supposed to be about putting me and my weight loss first but since the OH had his reality check from the nurse I'm focussing on him and his weight loss. Somewhere along the line I'm...

    Prioritising Me

Still managing to stay on plan despite (or maybe because of) the OH being on SW. We are both following red days and because it is so important for his health I am not finding myself making excuses. Making a stir fry for tea tonight. Will be a bit "leftoverish" as it's nearly payday but never...

    Prioritising Me

4 1/2lb loss on Thurs so very pleased. Not been on here since because I have been cooking. Constantly. OH joined SW on Thurs and is now doing red days to comply with the ridiculous no carbs rule from the nurse (he is having carbs obviously as cutting out a food group is madness). Because has...

    By xmas....

I'm hoping to at least regain my 1.5st award and help OH get his stone award. As long as I get a loss each week I'll be happy. I'll be off plan for Christmas day only and even then I won't over indulge, just a few nice treats.

    Prioritising Me

It's been an interesting couple of days. I've been on plan 100% though so very pleased with myself. Had a scan today to try and establish the reason for some problems I'm having and all is normal. Part of me is glad but part of me is frustrated that there is no physical cause to blame for the...

    Hifi Bar Nut Allergy Issues

The bakewell definitely has nuts in and it is the third new one in a row that has nuts in. Which is what I'm fed up about. :-)
  17. RosieKat

    Hifi Bar Nut Allergy Issues

Depends on the severity of the allergy. Mine is fairly mild so whilst I would be very ill if I took a bite out of one of the new hifis I probably wouldn't die and I don't have to carry an epipen. The last reaction I had was to almonds in a cake made by a relative who didn't realise almond...

    Hifi Bar Nut Allergy Issues

Maybe I'm mixing them up, not sure I have seen mint recently but maybe my consultant just hasn't had any. I want the Apricot and White Chocolate one back as that was one of my favourites!

    Hifi Bar Nut Allergy Issues

Am I the only nut allergy sufferer who is getting cross that they keep bringing out new HiFi bars with nuts in and taking away the ones without nuts? The last three new bars (peanut, rocky road and bakewell) have all had nuts in and iirc they took away the mint one last time and now lemon is...

    Prioritising Me

Mine too but just recently I have started sort of splitting my tea in two. I have a smaller meal early in the evening, about 5 ish then exercise (some evenings!) about 7 ish. I then have another 'tea' after I've exercised, a bigger meal than just a 'supper'. Tonight I have had an A and b choice...

Extra Easy SW on a serious Budget!

I work quite close to Birmingham market so I go up there twice a week for my fruit and veg and it saves me a fortune. I buy meat and fish when it is reduced as much as possible and also keep an eye out for Lidl's half price weekend offers as they often have meat on that - if it's mince it is...

    I need to rant......

Makes sense really - I will be less likely to go completely overboard on Christmas Day and Boxing Day as my weigh in this year is the Thursday so hopefully encouraging people to go will help them avoid too big a gain (and obviously protect the consultant's income!)

    Prioritising Me

Went to my aqua fit class, came home without going via Tesco and straight after my shower got into my PJs. I won't be going anywhere to buy any wine now and I stopped keeping any in the house a while back because it was too tempting! Just need to avoid bread / cheese / crisps etc etc but...

    It has taken me..

I am in the habit of having a treat (aka binge) night after weigh in and it is a habit I desperately want to break. I can happily get though 100 plus syns after weigh in if I have the lot - pizza / wine / chocolate etc. Then I wake up feeling cr*p on the Friday and really struggle to get back on...

    I need to rant......

People who can't be bothered to read the book annoy me too - I guess they don't want to lose the weight enough to put the effort in! If they are reprinting the book with it even more focused on Extra Easy it makes me think they are slowly going to phase out red and green. I already get confused...

    Slimming World Mag

I also find that the magazine is too focused on Extra Easy these days. I do understand why that plan is promoted to new members but I don't find I lose as well on it as I do on red so I hope Slimming World never stops doing the red and green plans altogether. :(

Yesterday was reasonably ok. Didn't manage my exercise because grandson didn't go home till after 7pm and then I had to go shopping. Half a pound on at weigh in tonight. Not unexpected but I had hoped for a maintain. We had a cheese and wine evening tonight and I picked up a copy of the new magazine which looks to have a couple of good recipes I may try this week. Next week is the launch of the new hifi bar. 3rd one in a...

Well, the last two days have been spectacularly unsuccessful. After being 100% all day yesterday I managed to pour boiling water over my hand at about 7pm. I'm married, mum to two teenagers and I have a full time job so life can be pretty hectic. I've been a member of a SW class for several years but if I am totally honest I have never fully committed to the plan. I still lost 2.5st over a period of time and kept it off but never got to target...

Original does anyone have big losses on red?

I always have bigger losses on red than green or extra easy. I have done success express in the past and although it is hard to sick to it does work. Like you I have been struggling recently and may give it a go again to boost my weght loss between now and Christmas - I like the idea of...

Your non-negotiable food (or I CAN believe it's not butter)

Wine and pizza are my two. Low cal wine is vile and pizza just has to be real pizza. I can happily make one at home with less cheese and a more veggie low syn topping but no way am I using Smash as a base!

The last time I ever join a slimming club .....

I like the sound of the Hairy Bikers lasagne but haven't had time to try it yet. Definitely will as I usually do red days so it will fit in better with leeks. I'm not sure the kids will like it but if I don't tell them maybe they won't notice?
