    New and gotta question :)

This link is a good place to start: Intermittent Fasting: Why and How a Food Lovin' Girl Chooses Not to Eat. - Eat, Lift & Be Happy Also, Mark's Daily Apple have quite a few articles on fasting in their archives. Spend an hour reading through that, and you'll know as much as anyone else :)

    New and gotta question :)

The 16/8 fasting protocol has you skip breakfast and start eating around noon, finishing at 8pm. When this is combined with paleo it is really powerful. Alternatively, if you're a coffee person you could try Bulletproof Coffee in the mornings to see you through to about 2-ish.

    Fitbit

I got a fitbit flex a few weeks ago and I love it, too! I've only made it to 10,000 steps once so far, but hopefully I'll make it again and again now that I know it can be done. Plus, my husband just got one, so I suspect that there'll be a lot of competitive walking in our household :)

Is anyone Primal living in Somerset?

I'm primal in Bristol :) I have trouble staying organised enough to stop myself from falling off the wagon. I think there's going to be a lot more salads if the weather stays decent for at least a few days!

    My fitness pal

Thanks for the recommendation! I've just downloaded the app and it seems quite good so far, apart from a bit of weirdness with adding honey! I'm a new Rosemary Conley girl---just started today---so this will be really useful I think. Plus I have made the happy discovery that I have 103kcal...

Propoints - What are you eating for tea?

Do you mean medallions of bacon? Tonight we're having Macaroni Cheese with Leeks from the new ProPoints cookbook. It's freezing cold outside already, so it leapt out at me when I was flicking through the book. Hope it's yummy and filling. I definitely need comfort food tonight.

Gains/losses after 1st week on Propoints. How have you done?

I gained half a pound and am seriously pissed off. I know it's probably because I had a big loss last week after being ill and my body is getting back to normal, but still! I weighed, tracked and checked everything (once eSource became even more questionable than usual). It's taking...

SHOCK - PP's in food that was free before!!

Dried herbs.. 1tsp is 0pp but anything over a tablespoon has points. I can understand why, but I certainly don't like it!

    PP and feeling ill

Are you eating way more fruit & veg since since you started PP? Ah yes, just re-read and you are. You might want to take your F&V consumption back to normal levels and then increase it gradually if you think it is definitely the F&V that is triggering an attack. You could always try tinned...

    Do I bed the books?

DDon't worry about taking your kids to the meeting! Loads of people take babies, toddlers and older kids to our meeting and I've never heard anyone complain. (And they just love putting up their hands when the leader asks questions :) )

    Shrinking Girl's weight loss diary

Have ended the day with a proper treat. 200g of Phish Food frozen yoghurt for 12pp. Very delicious but I did go and get a handful of blueberries to cut the sweetness a little. So now I have 43 weekly points left which I reckon is pretty good after four days on the plan. I can't tell if its...

What's going on with the ww website?

The calculator with the deluxe pack is pink, but the others are green, I believe. I've also noticed problems with eSource. I'd never had any issues with it prior to the change, so I hope they've got a team of fact-checkers working on all the values. I thought 1pp for 60g of smoked salmon was...

    Shrinking Girl's weight loss diary

Thanks, Rach! Great to see you, too! I seem to be getting on okay with ProPoints so far, although I am getting concerned about eSource's inaccuracies. Apparently 60g of smoked salmon was 1pp! Thinking that this was too good to be true, I fished the packet out of the bin (boom boom!) and...

Hello! I figured that now was as good a time to start a new diary since it's day 1 of the ProPoints plan for me :) I'm Ang, married, and with a 4 year old boy, often referred to as The Monster. Some days it is an entirely appropriate moniker, other days he is angelic :D I've managed to shift...

Comfort Plus? Are they actually part of Pro Points?

I'm pretty sure that they aren't part of the new plan. I remember seeing something about it when I first started eSource this morning, but as I never used them I didn't pay much heed.

    Propoints help

Age is a big factor in the way allowances are calculated. At my meeting, almost everyone over 40 was on 29 points other than a couple of people who were heavier. The younger people were on more points. I think it boils down to younger people having faster metabolisms and needing more calories...

You'll get a folder with the first week's guide to ProPoints (I am assuming from looking through mine that it will be built upon each week). There were various packs available to buy---essentials, deluxe---and you can buy a new calculator. Our meeting didn't have the new scales or cookbook...

Introducing the new Pro-points plan: *UPDATED TO THE CHANGES IN 2011!*

Yeah, I know that that's what the weekly points are for, but... I'm 18stone odd---it seems like I should be on more points than the folks who are on 29 (which was the old 18). I keep telling myself that patience is a virtue!

I knew the most recent ones would have their propoints included in the new folder and was really happy about that. But all of them? And available online? AWESOME!
  33. S

    Weightwatchers - Changing ??

No, 29 is the minimum for women and 46 is the minimum for men. If you're on esource or ww online then you'll see your new points allowance automatically when the changeover happens. And if you do meetings your new allowance will be given to you by your leader.
  34. S

    Weightwatchers - Changing ??

Yay! That formula works a treat in iWatchr (just downloaded it). I tested it against the ProPoints given for a McDonald's Double Cheeseburger in the little "Moving to ProPoints" booklet we got in our meeting on Monday. Now to investigate the ProPoints of some of my favourites:)

Oh, I'd completely forgotten about applesauce! I used to make it all the time when I was trying to eat clean a la Tosca. Another favourite was to add 1/2c of pumpkin puree and some spice to make it taste like pumpkin pie. It was super-healthy and tasted so decadent. It's such a shame that it...

    Weightwatchers - Changing ??

You can't directly compare points to ProPoints as the calculation will be completely different. Current points use calories and saturated fat. ProPoints use protein, carbs, fibre and fat. I doubt that anything will remain the same value!! Please don't be doom and gloom about it until you've...

    iPhone app

I wouldn't hold out too much hope. WW in the UK is really slow to adopt new technology. You can't even order their products online, for goodness sake!!
  44. S

    Weightwatchers - Changing ??

I'd say that they're worth it. About a third is success stories, another third recipes and the rest is split between fitness and beauty. I've cooked loads of recipes from the magazines over the last few months, much more than the latest cookbook. Love the pork lasagne from last month!!
  45. S

    Can someone please tell me....

If you've had a heavy session in the gym, then your body will retain some water in the muscles to help repair them. You can retain a few pounds due to this. I know it's upsetting to see the scales go up, but I'm certain that it will come off (and more) next week.
  46. S

    Weightwatchers - Changing ??

I suspect that pasta/rice/bread etc will be much higher in points, especially white (or low fibre) items. Something has to increase in points to compensate for fruit going free and lean protein is supposed to be lower points now, so that leaves carbs... I'm looking forward to the change and...

Icing Cakes - Any Bakers there to advise???

Roll-out/fondant icing will be fine on top of a chocolate sponge. Just make sure you don't roll it out too thinly or else you risk it tearing when you apply it to the cake. Not normally a problem, but if you've got chocolate buttercream underneath it'll stain white icing. If it helps at all...
