i gave in to temptation :(

I gave into temptation, too, yesterday. It was my lad's 10th birthday and I had, god forbid, an incredibly Dukan-unfriendly piece of birthday cake. Whereas the only other time I came off the wagon was planned weeks in advance, this one wasn't. And I can see it's a bit of a slippery slope, so I'm...

Oh dear, oh dear ..... Oh dear

Me, too, I fell off the wagon over the weekend, but it was a deliberate jump and I had been planning it for weeks! It was my friend's birthday and I knew I wouldn't be able to resist her delicious food, nor would I want to, knowing what a huge effort she would put in for us all. The whole meal...

    Weight vs how you look

My BMI is well within healthy range, but that's a good point re clothes. I can finally do up the top button of my favourite jeans again, without it cutting off the blood supply to my stomach. But there is still *that* pair of jeans in the bottom of my wardrobe that I was aiming to get into but...

    Weight vs how you look

Thanks for that link, Anja - I'm going to put that in the direction of my other half as I just did his BMI and he's in the overweight category, bless him. It's been a bit of a revelation, because I was a bit gutted when Dukan put in my 'true' weight as 6lbs more than I wanted, but I was...

    Weight vs how you look

According to Dukan, I've still got another 6 lbs to go before reaching my 'true' weight. I've already lost 11 lbs and am feeling great but my other half has said that he doesn't think I should lose much more because my face is beginning to look gaunt!! I'm doing the exercises, but it's hard...

Dukan vs all the rest ... peoples average weight loss?

I'm chuffed to bits to have lost 11lbs in less than 4 weeks. But for me, Dukan is great because of fact you're never hungry, never even tempted, and have loads of energy. I can't compare to other diets, because I've never done one (except for a bit of faffing with WW). But this has worked well...

    Seaweed

Thanks - I've just read your post about the soy sauce, Maintainer. It looks so innocent but I will avoid! And Runnerbean, I've been forgetting to drink enough water over the last few days, too, which probably hasn't helped at all.
  9. K

    Seaweed

I went all out and treated myself with sushi (just the fish bits) and salad a couple of nights ago (PV day). I had this kind of seaweed salad thing which I've never had before (no dressing)... but now I'm wondering if it was allowed because the next morning I had gone up 1.5lbs! Does anyone...

    Newbie needs help!

Hi eclaires, I would say make sure you have a good breakfast. You get 1.5 tbsp of oatbran a day during attack and 2 tbsp during cruise. It really fills you up and sets you up for the day, so I tend to have all my oatbran for breakfast either as 'porridge' with some zero fat yoghurt, or in a...
  12. K

    Attack Started today

Are you drinking water? Or diet coke / fizz? I reckon water is the way to go - that's what's got to be best for clearing out the system. You still might not feel great for a day or two, but you'll begin to feel all clean inside.

    Official weekly weigh in.

Ooh you've opened a whole new door for me on this site. I'll be nosing around everyone's galleries now. Your before and afters... incredible!
  14. K

    Attack Started today

The oatbran is amazing for making you feel full - plus has all sorts of beneficial effects. I had my oatbran porridge (2 tbsp as I'm on cruise) for breakfast at about 8.45 this morning, - looked like a tiny amount - and am only just getting hungry for lunch now (1.30pm). You'll be allowed 1.5...

    Cruise PV Honey honey

OK, I looked into the recipe in more detail. The title of the recipe is VERY misleading: "Toast slices with air-dried beef, goats cheese and honey" Goats cheese? Honey? But having looked at it, I see it's Dukan 'toast', Dukan 'goats cheese' (i.e. goats cheese flavouring whatever the...

    Cruise PV Honey honey

As I was eating my blob of oatbran porridge this morning, I thought how nice it would be to have a drizzle of honey on it, as I used to do with my normal porridge. Is honey ever allowed? I looked up on the website and he only has one recipe there with honey.

    Daily menus

A very tedious PP day for me - just finishing off some scraps that I had in the fridge: B: vanilla yog with 1 tbsp oatbran L: poached salmon and cottage cheese S: slice of beef D: same as lunch, with fat free natural yog and 1 tbsp oatbran Note to self: vary menu to avoid boredom.

    OFF SUBJECT... driving in France

Unfortunately, we're going on the mega 'quinze aout'. However, we are going on the Monday after the big weekend, so hopefully the worst will be over. And my parents are only about an hour from Narbonne, round and down to the south, and in the middle of nowhere, so fingers crossed for an OK journey.
  23. K

    OFF SUBJECT... driving in France

That's very good to know because driving in France is exactly what I am planning on doing this summer. We're auto-training it down to Narbonne, then driving to my mum and dad's teensy house in the foothills of the Pyrenees. But can they do that? Isn't there a law saying they have to announce...

    Am I being impatient?

Oh bummer. Although he says he'd been waiting for me at the entrance when I arrived, we somehow missed each other. I waited a bit, and wandered around. Next to the cricket pitch there is a club house, I suppose you'd call it, with a bar and a TV area. I swear I went in there searching for him...

    Am I being impatient?

Well I managed to shift another pound and break that 10 st barrier again this morning. But I'm not sure if that's because of the diet or because I lost my son for over an hour and a half when I went to pick him up from cricket yesterday. It was sheer stress and terror  - a sure fire way to...

What a bummer, Nicole. But keep plodding. You'll be chuffed when your teeth are back to normal and you didn't give in!
  28. K

    Am I being impatient?

Thanks for posting that, Joanne. I get it now - I didn't realise that BMI was a factor in the weight loss process! I'm trying to catch up with my twin sister who has been half a stone lighter than me for a long time, now. I haven't actually got round to posting in the menu thread. I should do that.
  29. K

    such restraint!

I've done LOADS of sniffing. Every time one of my kids has a biscuit or even strawberries. Yum. Sometimes they try and force feed me a bit of chocolate or something, NOT GOOD, but I've never succumbed. And funnily enough, sniffing doesn't make me want to succumb, either.
  30. K

    Am I being impatient?

Thanks, guys. I've definitely been eating enough. I might not have been exercising enough, though, as been a bit busy with work and kids - hardly an excuse because the exercises he recommends are hardly taxing! And I've just realised maybe I haven't been drinking enough water... Anyway, I'm...

    Am I being impatient?

I seem to have stalled. I'm not complaining - I've lost 7 lb in two weeks, but haven't shifted a pound for about five days or so, now. I did lose another pound, briefly, but it came back on. I'm not giving up! But I was expecting to lose 2-3 lb a week on Cruise and only lost one last week...

    I can with Dukan

Welcome, Katy. I reckon you'll get the results you want and good luck with it. I'm two weeks into the diet and it doesn't look like I've used even half my 500g pack of Mornflake oatbran, so I reckon two packs of 500g would see you through your eight weeks, but maybe get a third one for peace...

It's not just about the weight loss!

I'm sure other people have mentioned this, but my energy levels have gone through the roof. Usually I feel like a quick kip after lunch, but not on this diet. I find my energy levels are steady and high from the minute I wake up, to the minute I go to bed. Another spin off from this diet is I...

I'll let others in the know reply to this, but I reckon it's the scales, senorita. Even so, a pound is a pound is a pound.
  42. K

    Yoghurts... AGAIN (sorry!)

As I've read the forums, it appears that the only Muller Lights allowed are the toffee and vanilla ones. But I'm sitting here looking at a rhubarb one, and there is barely more carb content than a toffee one. Rhubarb: carbs - 7.9g of which sugars - 7.3g sugars naturally occurring from...

    Attack Muller Light

That'd be great Maintainer. I didn't manage to get to Morrisons, but they've got 4 for £2 in Budgens. 50p each. Doesn't sound like such a good deal :-/
  49. K

    I skipped attack phase...

The attack phase is really important - I can't imagine too many people on Dukan would skip it as it's an integral part of the diet. It's the kick start you need. 1 tomato and green leaves doesn't sound bad, and I'm sure nothing bad will happen, but a lot of it is to do with getting your head...

That IS a bargain, Sunshine. Must go down there. I'm finding that the Muller Lights (usually for breakkie and pud after either lunch or dinner) are the highlights of my day.
  51. K

Attack What to do with oatbran....

I'm a beginner, so I'm sure others will jump in with ideas, but so far I've put the oatbran in my morning yoghurt - makes you feel full for ages. And I've made some galettes with egg white and Quark, added in some sweetner and had with a squeeze of lemon juice like a pancake, or with a bit of...

1st day so far so good but found these any good?

You quite quickly get used to not having 'things' on the side, but yes it's hard the first couple of days. Hopefully your body will adjust quite quickly - I found that by the time I got to Cruise I wasn't too bothered one way or another about veg. But a few days into Cruise and I now see veg on...

1st day so far so good but found these any good?

Yep, keep at it. My first day was rubbish. I just didn't plan it properly and thought I wasn't going to be able to do the diet. But I lost 2lb and got myself organised for the second day and began to see how it could really work (despite getting a headache). It does get easier - so much easier...

    Slimming World vs Dukan?

Good luck, Senorita! This diet is incredible - can't compare with others because I've never been on others, but all I can say is that I've lost 6 pounds, as of today (8th day in) with hardly a hunger pang. And this forum is brilliant - it's enough knowing you're not the only one, but to get...

    First real test passed!

I went to the seaside today and went to a proper English caff and watched while my daughter and friend got stuck into chips and beans and who knows what else, while I stuck to my packed 'lunch' of boiled eggs and crab sticks (PP day). Is it OK to lapse if you plan it well in advance?

I'm sure it's going to be a spread of different things, like a buffet. My friend's a real foodie and a good cook. So I will be able to pick and choose up to a point. But that's a good idea about eating before - I could do the Dukan thing of eating a hard boiled egg. What I'm thinking is if I...

Is it OK to lapse if you plan it well in advance?

My social diary is positively empty (sad, I know, but single mum, three kids... you get the picture). This is great for avoiding temptation. But in a few weeks I'm going to a friend's birthday. She's having it at her house and she's an amazing cook and I know she's going to make loads of lovely...

    True weight v. target weight

My true weight is 6lb more than the weight I put in for my target weight. I have used my true weight as my goal for the coaching, but what have others done? Do you stick to your target weight, or listen to what Mr Dukan has to say? I only ask because my target weight is a weight which I know...

    Welcome to Dukan

Hi Floribunda. That is one of the good things about the diet - you can eat to your heart's content. But I think you naturally cut down on the amount you would normally eat, anyway, because you feel full. I'm sure you'll see the pounds drop off. Good luck!

Attack Day 3 - Feeling pretty good

I'm on day 3 too. Unlike you, I didn't sleep very well at all last night, or the previous night. Plus I had a headache this morning, which I quashed with a pill. Attack day 2 and a pounding headache :(

    Attack Hi Newbie Question..Ham

Oh dear - I had ham on my first day. Still lost 2 lbs, but didn't realise it wasn't allowed. What about bacon with all the rind cut off? I was going to have that in my lunch today! (Am on third and final day of attack).
