Thanks! Good news as I never much wanted that Ryvita anyway! LOL

    Quantities

I am confused! I have followed SW from home for years and my books all tell me that you get 28g of cereal as a HEB, with a multigrain Ryvita. (cereals like bran flakes and sultana bran). Someone told me that it is now 35g. Is this correct? Has it increased? And do you still need to eat the...

do you need to eat less as you get nearer your goal?

Most probably, I would say. The lighter you get, the less calories your body needs to get through the day, so the less you will need to consume in order to continue to lose weight. Hopefully your body will manage this for you though and as long as you only eat until you are full you shouldn't...

Green Days can slimming world work with excercise?

Weight training builds muscle which in turn increases your metabolism. Make sure you are getting plenty of protein to aid this process - always a challenge for vegetarians but very do-able. There is no reason on earth why lots of carbs would have a negative impact on your results; your speeded...

    Whats for breakfast?

My pack definitely says 28g plus a ryvita but it is a few years old so maybe it has changed?! That would make me very happy **trots off to eat 7g of bran flakes for every day of the last 4 weeks**

    Calories?

I know you shouldn't really be counting a but I cannot help but think I am eating too many calories. I don't have much to lose and tend to come in between 1600-1800 per day, which may explain why I haven't lost much past the first few weeks. One side effect of Atkins I never experience, sadly...

    when can I have fruit??

Hi Emma Have you checked out the Atkins UK website? Just google Atkins Diet and you should get the official site which gives a lot of detail on what you can eat and when. Should you chose to move onto OWL after 2 weeks of induction you can eat some berries but only in VERY small quantities...

    High fat low protein?!

Am concerned I am perhaps eating a little too much protein and not enough fat. My problem is that most of the high fat foods I like are also high in protein, so I struggle to redress the balance. Does anyone have any suggestions of any foods that are high in fat but low in protein? All I can...

    How to increase fat intake

Dont forget that a gram of fat contains double the calories of a gram of protein. On Atkins you should be getting roughly double the amount of calories from fat than from protein, which means if you are tracking grams you should be aiming for equal quantities of fat and protein!!

Tesco do a lactose free milk called Kara - is coconut milk but doesn't taste of it at all! I find soya horrible!

    Induction Soy / Endamame Beans

Not sure about the app but on the MFP website you go to setting ( top right of page) and then into diary settings and you can change what you want it to track for you. Be careful with it though - all the info that is in there has been added by other users so a good chance it is inaccurate-...

    One for the ladies only!!

I have recently re-started Atkins ( did it before- liked it - lost a bit of weight - got distracted - put weight back on again etc etc etc ). Something has happened both times that is totally weird - I have started a period entirely mid-cycle - started one today when only had my last one 2...

    Atkins Bars

The endulge bars are really just treats; I think they have little or no nutritional value! The Advantage bars, on the other hand, are high in protein and can be used as meal replacement bars. They are also very nice - especially the chocolate brownie one!

etting your head around Atkins and snacks.....help please :)

The crispy bacon strips you get in M+S are great for snacks and absolutely YUM! I couldn't live without them. Some people don't approve of them but personally I also rate the Atkins Advantage bars as really filling snacks. They are high in protein and great if you have a sweet tooth! Some people...

    Anyone seen this....

Have seen this before - very disturbing. It is quite simply a form of abuse by weak men on vulnerable women. They do it so that the woman will get so big and be completely dependant on them; it's a control thing.

    Protein = glucose?

I think I am guilty of this also - too much protein. Anyone any ideas on easy ways to increase fat/decrease protein? A typical days food for me would be: breakfast - MIM with butter mid morning snack - bacon lunch - chicken salad dinner - chicken/ salmon/ steak with either salad or green...

    Are these allowed?

I get this but am I right in thinking the UK exception would be diabetic products or atkins bars? These products list carbs, polyols and sugars. For the purposes of counting carbs, we can deduct the polyols from the total??

What's stopping me losing weight? :(?

Hi - looking at your stats you really have very little weight to lose so what you have shifted so far is particularly great! I do think 3lb a week loss is maybe slightly unrealistic for someone with such a low BMI? I think 1 -2 lbs would be a fantastic result for you

    the Belgian Chocolate problem

To be honest, from reading your post, I think if you eat them you will regret it massively. Don't get me wrong, I am not judging anyone for falling off the wagon every now and again (have done so frequently!) but if you are this indecisive about it, those chocolates would have to be utterly...

So... someone explain Atkins and how it works practically to me?

Caroline - there is a sticky on this forum just above called "So you are thinking of starting atkins" - I recommend you read it as it tells you all you need to know. With regards the satsumas though, whilst in induction you may forget them; aint gonna happen! Good luck xxx

    Carb allowance?

I think it is UP TO 20g per day; you don't have to eat it all. It is probably best that you try to though, to ensure you are getting enough fibre, vitamins etc

    conjugated linoleic acid

  31. C

    MiM questions.. sorry

Tesco sell Linwoods milled organic flaxseed- got it in the porridge isle. Very expensive (£4.99, I think) but it is a good big bag that would probably do a MIM a day for a month! Already milled to no need to mess about grinding Linseed and the nutritional info is UK correct; 0.5g carb per 30g...

Green Days Day 5 and dont feel like ive lost any weight?

It is hard to tell as you don't weigh that much to start off with..what height are you and what is your BMI? My personal experience was that green/ extra easy did not really help me shift much as I did not have much to lose; it took cutting back on carbs on red days to get things moving! From...

    Yet another sweetener question!

AM completely with you - have a feeling I haven't been doing this right. I have been on induction 1 week, sticking below 20g of carbs, but do not think I am in Ketosis. Tomatoes!

Apologies as I am sure this has been asked a hundred times already but are tomatoes allowed on induction?! I am new to this and slightly confused. I have read that they are not allowed but surely they are ok so long as you include the carbs in your 20g? Help is appreciated!

    Not loosing!

Coming to this a bit late but this looks like a tiny amount of food! No way would that be anywhere near 1500 cals. Vibration plates

I have used them before and they definitely do work but only as part of an overall regime. They are good for toning and strengthening muscle, which in turn can boost metabolism longer term. Paul Mckenna

Essential SW items for your trolley

For me it is the Tesco 3 for £10/4 for £12 offer on meat; salmon, peppered steaks, chicken breasts, chops - I feel like I am in there every few days stocking up! I could never be a vegetarian!
  46. C

Whats your new SW food discovery??

I am a rubbish cook but love salmon! I just grind a bit of pepper and throw over some mixed herbs, wrap it in tin foil and bung it in the oven - about 20 minutes at a reasonably high temp (gas 7-8) and bobs your uncle; absolutely delicious!

Pretty new to SW and not doing well...HELP!!

According to your stats you are only a tiny bit overweight and therefore do not have loads to lose. From what you have said, it sounds like you are perhaps over-indulging in free foods. You probably need to focus on identifying actual hunger and ensuring you stop eating once you are full. If you...

I've decided to quit Dukan - need advice

All the main diets - Dukan, WW, SW etc work. The key is finding one that you enjoy, that suits your lifestyle and most importantly, that you can stick to! Clearly Dukan does not suit your lifestyle and is making you unhappy. I think Dukan is a great plan and tried it but I travel extensively...

    limitless sugar free jelly???

I think the official line is max 3 portions, which would be 3/4 of a pint ( 1 sachet makes 1 pint which according to Hartleys is 4 portions!!)

    What have you just eaten??

Baked salmon with mixed herbs and salad, which was delicious. Ruined it somewhat by then having TWO curly-wurlys! This is why I should never keep treats in the house

    Brown Vs White

They are both free on EE. I think calorie wise they are the same; the brown versions contain more fibre, I think, which is why you can have them as HEB on a red day. I think you are right in that the brown versions are recommended for weight loss purely due to the fact they fill you up for...

    Pure african mango

I would always be very sceptical of any new weight loss "wonder product". Just because it is natural does not make it safe - there have been numerous health scares about supposed natural weight loss aids; hoodia and sea kelp to name 2. I always take the view that if something truly works, you...

    Extra Easy fruit v veggies

Fruit is a lot higher in calories than vegetables as it contains a fair amount of natural sugar. I have to avoid grapes as I LOVE them and will simply eat too many; 1 500g punnet contains about 300 calories and I could happily put away 2 punnets a day! This is an example of when you can take the...

Extra Easy Is this syn free?

Hmm again unsure what 85% visible lean beef is but am guessing it means it is 85% lean?! Tesco extra lean mice is less than 5% fat and is free. If this beef is 15% fat, am guessing it might be syns?

Does everyone here have 2 A choices on red/green?

Personally I only have the 1 - skimmed milk for coffee throughout the day - but that is more due to the fact I am not a lover of dairy/ cheese than for any other reason! So far as I am aware you can have a 2nd if you want it

    Whats for breakfast?

large bowl of Oatibix bites ( 2 x HEB as is a red day) with chopped apple and forest fruits activia!

    Can i ask

At the end of the day any major weight loss plan must make assumptions on the habits of it's followers. SW, quite correctly, assumes that the reason most people are overweight and wishing to lose is because they have a fondness for "bad food", ie those foods that have a syn value such as...

Confused and wondering if SW is really for me

Perhaps I am reading your post wrong but are you saying you have regained over 13lbs but are wearing smaller clothes and have not been doing exercise!? I agree with eye6769 - check the scales!! How do you feel about large consultants?

    Not Good at the moment

Hi Dawnyo I am a bit like you - only have a small amount to lose and struggled on extra easy. I switched to red and found it more efffective as it restricts carbs. I do also think when you want to lose about a stone or so you need to be careful about quantities and not take the "as much as...
  62. C

How do you feel about large consultants?

I was not suggesting that someone who is overweight is not following the plan; I fully understand that people can do incredibly well on this plan but if they have a large amount to lose can shift 6 stone and still be overweight. It is, however, my opinion that a consultant should be someone who...
  63. C

How do you feel about large consultants?

Surely the point of attending SW is to hopefully work hard to achieve target and then maintain that target? You say yourself that you can lose well but cannot keep it off; surely what you therefore need is a consultant who can inspire you to the next level, not someone who you can relate to as...

    weetabix oatibix bites

28g of either the oatibix bites or the mini's are a HEB - any variety, plus the crispbread. 28g of this cereal is NOTHING though!! Tiny tiny portion - I have sultana and apple bites a lot and count out precisely 12!!

    Not much to lose....

Hi All I am not overweight (BMI about 22.5) but quit smoking recently and have gained nearly a stone very quickly! Obviously I want to lose this weight again (cannot get into a lot of my clothes at the mo which is difficult!). SW seems like a very sensible plan but would it be suitable for...

According to my book you can have as much DC as you like; Dr D is a fan as he believes it helps with sugar cravings and keeps you on the straight and narrow! Muller Light

I now have a fridge coming down with Muller yoghurt that I wont eat! I have to say that is one downside to this plan; the cultural and culinary differences between the UK and France do lead to some confusion; I read the book cover to cover and thought I had it sussed, but clearly not!
  75. C

    Muller Light

No - that makes perfect sense. I think the lesson is, if you are going to eat them, it doesn't really matter which one you eat! I think I may limit to 1 per day of whichever flavour I fancy. I have noticed it is basically impossible to get fat-free yoghurts that don't come in enormous tubs, like...

    Attack Lemon Extract?!!

I know what you mean- how much harm could a tiny squeeze of lemon possibly do! But whilst on attack I suppose is best to err on the side of caution.... Will be heading to Asda for some of that strawberry flavouring though!
