I agree Nat, it's got me wondering too.

what a nightmare - there back to square one - in ten days not one suspect! -
i wish her well and hope no harm as come to her!

I know its sad to say but no child should be left alone -
but no mother should have to go thou this either!!

this world is sick and twisted -

the fact that they are letting free the guy that killed sarah - he raped girls in only 2002 and is now to be set free!!!

HOW TWISTED IS THIS WORLD!!!

On Sky News, they're saying that they don't know if he's been released or not - and that Mrs M is denying that the pool has been drained.

We really need a police statement - all this conjecture is crazy!

sky news is making me mad grrrr:mad:
also imagine if he has done something wrong and they bosh the trial as unfair....how could he possibly have a fair trial sky news are laying open his whole life live on tv....its nuts, yes we need to know, but surely this is too much?

issy aparently they drained the cess pit/septic tank not swimming pool, makes more sense i mean you can see to the bottom of a pool cant you[unless its very dirty that is???]

Well, I suppose the Sky News lawyers are taking care to make sure they say that he's not been arrested etc etc but you're right. Do you reckon that's why his ex-wife was removed from her house late last night? So that the mob didn't go round and burn the house down or something??

I got cross about the swimming pool thingy - SN guy said that it was just what a neighbour had said. SO rumour then, not fact?!!?!?!?! Aren't there guidelines in place to stop them reporting what is tantamount to heresay?

I can't understand why the police aren't saying anything, unless of course, they have absolutely nothing to say.

This is driving me mad - I must try and focus on something else coz I can't stand this!

What a good thread ... puts all our worries about dieting and "oh i'm so worried that I had a tic tac " type stuff and my gallstone wailing into perspective

Those poor poor parents, lets keep everything crossed that they've found the right guy and she's still alive and well.

I've been cuddling my daughter that bit tighter lately and counting my blessings.

Well done for reminding us of what real worry truly is.

Hmmm he is now a suspect but not a suspect...lol. Like hello make your mind up, just because of some Portugese rules.

EH !!!!!

I find it absolutely unbelievable that, in Portugal, someone can claim to be a 'suspect', after being interview initially as a 'witness', purely in order to have the right to see a lawyer and/or the right to remain silent.

We don't know yet if Murat or the police have raised his status to 'suspect'. What a complete mess!!

I am suffering, probably beyond a reasonable concern, as I'm sure lots of 'on-lookers' are - yet I can't bear to think about how distressing this all must be for Maddie's family. UGH!

Its a total farce what sort of law and order do they have over there....its bloody ridiculous there is a missing child here and they seem to be pussy footing around.

I am just watching it on the news now. I cant even imagine what the poor parents and family must be going through. My thoughts go out to them all and I hope maddie gets found well and unharmed.

I agree, Sonya!

I'm hopping mad just thinking about it.

I could be being totally unfair (because of course we don't know anything of what's happening behind the scenes) but it just seems to be that this particular police force have little or no experience of this type of crime (as you wouldn't expect them to in this 'sleepy, safe' part of the world, to be fair) and it just makes me want to shake the chief of police until his teeth rattle.

I mean - have they brought in specialists from a big city or Interpol or something? Or is it the village bobby biting off more than he can chew? I'm certain that the Portuguese police are working as hard as they can, and taking this disappearance as seriously as they should, but is that enough?????

As I say, I could be being really unfair and my criticisms could yet prove to be wholly unjustified - but what do they expect when we are being kept in the dark about what is actually happening.

I understand that there are certain details that any police force must keep confidential in order not to jeopardize a prosecution, and that's fair enough, but all this not knowing is making me - and I'm sure the majority of the UK & Praia de Luz (sp?) - jumpy and irritable!

xxxx

I have to agree totally, they do seem to need a shake up. Though as you said we dont know what is going on behind the scenes.
Its just so frustrating not knowing.

my own daughter is called maddie and its really made it all the more real to me . i cant take my eyes of the news. i had friends killed in a car accident , hit by a tanker lorry in portugal and all i can say is there is no law in portugal . two adults and four children killed on a public road and if the driver of the tanker was to be brought to court. the family had to bring a civil suit . he walked away scott free

This is on the Sky News site..

'Police in Portugal will be holding a press conference at 6.00pm'

Now whether that is 6pm their time or ours, I have no idea... just thought I'd let you know....

To be fair, there is not the crime in Portugal that there is here. I believe the Inspector who led the Jamie Bulger case is out there with the Portuguese police. He said in the Siunday paper that he thought it would all be sorted by the end of this week. He would not say something like that if he did not have inside information.

To be fair was the Soham case conducted any better? This was all started by a Sunday Mirror reporter saying it reminded her of Huntley at Soham the way Murat was always there.
