    Reanimated noob

Hello everyone. I am not new with Minimins or WW but it's been so blooming long since I've been a WW member that I may as well be a total novice! I've been dipping in and out of SW for years but have come to realise that I need some portion control in my life, so I've signed up online. I am...

Getting back to 100% after a stressfull time.... A large kick up the bum needed!

I haven't been on for a few weeks and just popped on to post something very similar. I joined SW in February and did so well, I stuck to it 100% for a few months and lost 1.5 stone... but not I seem to have lost my way and I can't seem to get back into it. Luckily I'm still hovering around my...

    Tuesday Weighers

1lb off for me, regaining my 1.5 stone after an iffy couple of weeks. I know it was undeserved this week but I had a chat with my consultant this evening and I'm feeling motivated for the coming week. I just hope it lasts!

    SAS log?

Thanks. I had a word with my consultant and she said I could do one but really it's for people who don't know where they're going wrong, whereas I do know where, just maybe not why. She suggested that I go back to basics, read my books again, keep a paper food diary instead of using the online...

    SAS log?

I can't stop self sabotaging and I don't know why. I lost 1.5 stone with relative ease and no cheating and now it's all going to crap. My motivation has vanished despite still having 3.5 stone to go. I've heard mention of the SAS log and if I can get hold of my consultant tonight I'm going to...

I finally feel like I'm back on track after changing groups. 2.5lbs off this week and I got my 1.5 stone award :)

Raffles in Group: consultants opinions greatly appreciated.

At my old group it was 50p for one ticket. When our consultant passed away, his replacement was quite taken aback to find the 50p was not for the strip! I've recently changed groups and my new consultant explained that the raffle money went towards the prize and refreshments.

1/3 Super free foods at breakfast

I often have weetabix or porridge with a sliced banana or some raspberries on top. I am finding that I'm having fruit salads with a dollop of Total 0 more and more often though.

Original day HexA: 40g reduced fat cheese in my lunchtime omelette 250ml semi skimmed milk (won't use it all as just using it for tea and coffee since it's "there") HexB: 60g wholemeal roll for tonight's fakeaway burger Salted caramel hifi bar

    Tuesday Weighers

Hello! I used to be a Saturday weighed but due to my husband now working on Saturdays and there being zero chance of my children sitting serenely through image therapy, I've had to change groups. Had my first Tuesday WI last night and had my first gain so far. Only 1lb though which I'm happy...

The Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary ones are free, and bloody gorgeous they are too. I'm not aware of any other free ones though.

    Finally managed to run!!

Well done! That's exactly how I started out and even though I still have walking intervals, they are tiny and my breathing recovers really quickly. I noticed that I was suddenly able to run much further once I was dragging a stone less around with me as well, so this bodes well for my future...

I can't do it from my phone (iPhone, not sure if it can be done from other phones) but from the laptop I right click and copy the award from the SW website (the my awards section) and literally just paste it into my signature).

    Jeans Sizing!

I need to investigate this curvy Gapness. I am also a short leg and finding jeans that are the right length and fit is the bane of my life (hence every pair of jeans I have owned since I can remember coming from Next).
  16. Snozzberry

    Jeans Sizing!

I always buy high waisted to avoid the builders bum look. But I have two pairs of (high waisted) skinny jeans from Next. Identical apart from the colour. The blue now hang off me and have been "rested". The black used to be far too tight and now fit me nicely.

    Relabelling of mince

I've only just got my husband to understand that he needs to pick up extra lean when he does the shopping (same with fat free yogurts). It's taken years to sink in. This may actually melt his brain. I think I'll just pick up the bloody mince myself :D
  18. Snozzberry

    Relabelling of mince

I've just seen the update on the SW website about mince being relabelled as lean, reduced fat and standard. It seems that lean is the new extra lean and (possibly) still free, although so far only Asda's lean mince has been confirmed as free. Apparently all due to EU regulations on...

Extra Easy I can't help thinking "Can Extra Easy really work?"

Exactly the same, Ive lost 1lb shy of 1.5 stone in 3 months doing mostly EE. I think I've done one red day and one green day in that time, only because I realised I had actually eaten those days towards the end of the days and thought YAY more healthy extras lol. 99% of the time I stick to EE...

    Slimming World or Weight Watchers?

I've done both (several times) and have lost a decent amount of weight on both. Personally though I prefer Slimming World, which it what I'm following at the moment. I find having to count points (or calories come to that) makes me obsess about food and crave it all the more, whereas although...

    Super Free Food...

I love a nice fruit salad (made of whatever I happen to have in but often includes some combination of raspberries, strawberries blueberries, kiwi, melon, grapes, pineapple, mango and pomegranate seeds - not all at once lol) topped with a dollop of Total 0 for breakfast.

    Extra Easy First day down..

I understand completely what you mean about not being able to stick to something for long, for the past few years I've tried various plans (some several times, including SW) but given up after two weeks. Something just clicked this time and leapt me in the zone. I had my 12th weigh in today...

    Saturday weigh in

It's my last Saturday WI - I need to change to a Tuesday group after this week as my husband is starting a new job and will be working Saturdays (my 2 year old will not sit nicely through image therapy lol). But it it was a good 'un - 2lbs off and got my Club 10 :)

Week 4 Weigh in - A bit disappointed...

I just looked back to see when it was I sts and yes, it was week 4 (so far the only week I've not had a loss). Maybe it's cursed for us! Well I don't know how the hell I managed it but I had a 1.5lb loss! I'm going to be careful now in case my crap week catches up with me next week. I am thinking lots of speed and super speed food for me over the next week - I am 1lb away from my Club 10 and I don't want to balls it up!

What Days do you all prefer doing? Red, Green, Extra Easy or a mix

I prefer EE as it feels more like a way I could eat for the rest of my life. However, if I suddenly realise I have had no green food that day (and don't plan to) then I have no qualms in declaring it a red day and having my extra hexes :D

    Body Magic/Flexible Syns?

The way I've always understood flexi syns is that you decide your upper syn limit for that on-off day (be it 30 or 70 or even more) and then stick to that. What was your turning point?

I have long said I don't want to be fat and forty but when 2014 finally arrived, so did my deadline! So I think that has focused me in the zone for the first time in years. I had been flirting with slimpods for quite a while towards the end of last year and all I achieved was putting on an...

Is eating out on SW relatively impossible?

I think it depends on where you're going. We went to the Harvester a couple of weeks ago, I pre-planned and had a 'free' meal. Next week I have a works team bonding afternoon, including dinner at a nice restaurant in the evening. It is a set menu and nothing on it is SW friendly. I rarely go...

    Pregnancy weight

I didn't follow SW (or any plan) during either of my pregnancies and I didn't put on any excess weight both times. I didn't lose any of my existing surplus 4 stone either mind, but I didn't gain any more lol.

How quickly did you see results?

I agree about the bloating. Just two weeks in (6lbs lighter) my work trousers felt a little looser and my skinny jeans felt a bit baggier around my bum and thighs. Amen to that. Star week reminds me of my school friend who would always refer to her period as "women's problems" in a whisper. Or TOM as it's known in our office. Blames a bloke into the bargain :D

    Snozzberry's Fab4Forty SW Diary

I maintained this week. I'm actually quite disappointed as I've followed the plan 100% and was hoping to get my half stone this week. I'm going to make more of an effort to put my food on here this week to see if anyone can see if I'm doing anything wrong.
  117. Snozzberry

    Saturday weigh in

I stayed the same. I don't really know why :( I've been 100% since I joined and the only differences I can think of this week is I haven't been out running and I've been having all my syns - the past couple of weeks I've averaged 10 a day. Maybe that's what I need to try and stick to.

    Weetabix Banana and Choc

Extra Easy Feeling a bit disheartened - not sure if I trust the EE plan?!

Really?! Oh excellent I can use the hummus my daughter nagged me to buy this week and then didn't want.
  120. Snozzberry

    Segregated groups

I find a lot of SW stuff a bit cock-eyed. For example we are told that losing 1-2lb a week is the healthiest and most sustainable way of losing weight. And then they award slimmer of the week to the person who has large losses.
  121. Snozzberry

    Syns Help Please

Hello! Off the top of my head, if your Tesco sausages are the ones I got at the weekend (I think mine were light choices ones) then they're 1 syn each. All teas (without adding sugar, milk, etc) are free.

Is it a bad idea to...

I've just been having a muller light and a banana before I weigh in, although my group is at 10am on Saturdays. Then I generally have a nice big (whilst still on plan) lunch when I get back, usually involving bacon and eggs.

    Newbie to Slimming world!

Hello! I'm into week 3 at the moment and have been keeping it fairly simple so far with meals that I would normally eat anyway, just tweaking them a bit to make them SW friendly. For instance, tonight we're having our usual Nigella's quick chilli in the slow cooker, only leaving out the chorizo...

Extra Easy Week one and 1lb gain :(

Our cover consultant said when I joined two weeks ago that a piece of fruit for pudding can count as your one third superfree. She then reiterated the point by saying "so if you don't fancy some salad on the side or something, just have some fruit after and that's fine".
  128. Snozzberry

    Whats your next goal(s)?

I'm 1lb away from my first half stone so I'm hoping to get that next week.

    Snozzberry's Fab4Forty SW Diary

Clearly I am supremely crap at updating my own diary but for once it's not because I've given up, just a combination of busy and knackered. I've stuck to it 100% for the past two weeks and lost another 2.5lb this week despite being poorly with man flu (which usually means comfort eating). I'm...

How will your diet cope with Valentine's day?

We don't really do Valentine's Day but since it also happens to be Friday, we're getting a takeaway. Chicken with black bean sauce, loads of boiled rice, Muller light for puds. Might even go mad and pop some crushed meringue nest in to fancy it up. Sorted. Plus my WI is Saturday morning lol...

    Segregated groups

I have been members of several SW and WW groups over the years and there have always been men there - nowhere near as many as women admittedly. There are two men who stay to my current (smallish compared to my old group) meeting - plus our Consultant is male - and they are both pretty active...
  133. Snozzberry

Extra Easy do you syn cups of tea and coffee?

I've started drinking a lot of green tea, although I always have to start the day with a proper cuppa and sometimes have another later in the day. If I'm having cereal I use milk as my HexA and generally have enough milk left for a cup of tea, otherwise I syn it by the dash.

Extra Easy Hello I'm a Newbie!!

Hello, I'm a noob as well - well returnee, both to SW and Minimins. I rejoined last weekend, first WI yesterday and lost 3.5lb. I'm really enjoying it this time as well, I was a bit half arsed with it this time last year but I am feeling really motivated now. Good luck!

I'll have the odd muller light and an occasional diet coke but I refuse to add spoonfuls of artificial sweetener to recipes generally. Hello, can I join you?

I've been round most of Minimins over the years but I've never poked my head round the healthy eating door before. Basically I keep trying different plans, mostly this means switching between Slimming World, Weight Watchers and calorie counting using MFP, with the odd Slimpod chucked in for...

back on the sw plan... what plan as a veggie works better?

I never used to get on with red/green as I'd forget which plan I was doing and invariably scoff loads of bacon on a green day or forget to weigh my pasta on a red day so EE suits me down to the ground. However, if meat was taken out of the equation altogether then I would go green all the time...

hi again - sw on a budget

I always have bags of frozen veg in the freezer and just sling things into whatever I'm cooking. Is wafer thin ham free?

I joined a new meeting this week and during the new members talk our consultant said "processed meat needs to be synned, so that's your burgers, sausages and wafer thin ham". I've always had wafer thin ham when I've done the plan before - have I been doing that wrong?? As an aside, during...

    DOING SW FROM HOME???

Hello, can I join you? I've been flitting between various plans for months but SW is the one that works. Unfortunately I don't like the meetings and the only one I can really get to these days has a dreadful consultant anyway. My old group had a fab consultant but was too big, even just...

    Has PP changed?

My leader mentioned filling and healthy to me at the scales and mentioned it again during the meeting. It sounds like essentially it is the Core Plan, only you can chop and change daily if you want to now, instead of having to pick a plan and stick to it for at least a week.

Fab idea! I might do the same tonight. My problem is that in my head I'm not as big as I am, so it is generally a shock to see myself in changing room mirrors - I need some visual focus I think. I don't think I'm as brave as you to post them though lol.

    Monday weigh in

Second WI today and I lost 1.5, despite TOTM and feeling like a baby elephant when I walked in. I feel more on track now, 2lb in 2 weeks sounds much more respectable that a 0.5lb first week loss :D

Thanks ladies. I guess that's it, even if I'm not sticking to it 100% just yet, I am at least aware of it and reigning it in slowly. Between leaving WW about a month ago and joining SW I put on half a stone through just not caring what went into my mouth. Juliet, I was exactly the same the...

    Fitting superfree into breakfast

I usually have a sliced banana on my weetabix. Sometimes I go crazy and have some berries instead. Last week I did have a fruit salad for breakfast which filled me up (melon, pineapple and mixed defrosted berries) but then I had more fruit during the day and got really bloated. Note to self...

    What's the point?

This is the very same picture I post on another forum I use whenever someone says they only lost 1lb - it is now mostly referred to as losing a mug of fat lol. It is disheartening on your first week though when you see other huge losses at that first WI. You might get a good loss next week...

Are you eating too much fruit? I felt bloated yesterday and I think that was why.
  184. Snozzberry

So let me get this straight...

That pretty much sums it up - also with EE your meals need to contain 1/3 superfree as well. My consultant recommends sticking to EE for at least the first week to ease yourself in, although I tend to stick to EE most of the time as I find it does what it says on the tin. If I realise that...

What is/was your reason/motivation to lose weight?

I am rejoining my old group on Monday and for me it's lots of little things that individually don't motivate me as much as they should, so maybe I need to bundle them up and look at them as a whole. 1. My little girl deserves a mum who has the energy to run around with her without needing a...

With the weeklies, I think it is a case of finding the right balance for you maybe. Some people need to eat them all to lose weight, some people perhaps not as many. In theory you should be able to eat all of them regularly and still lose though. I find that I eat every last one if I don't...

11pp left for dinner - Ideas!

I was recently introduced to the idea of garlic prawns on pesto pasta by a friend - I have worked it out to be 9pp and it is gorgeous! I fry some crushed garlic in Fry Light, then add some king prawns. Meanwhile, put 50g per person of pasta shapes on, then drain and stir in half a jar of green...

Recent convert from 'the dark side'

I've to-ed and fro-ed between WW and SW in the past and always come back to WW. I love the concept of SW but sadly it doesn't love me. I also suffer from IBS and I have always found it improves hugely when I'm doing WW - the complete opposite on SW with all that veg and fruit though lol. I...

Sounds good to me FB :)

    blackberry instant messaging..

I will be ditching my iPhone in favour of a BB at the end of the month, so once I have figured it all out I wouldn't mind WW/BB buddies.

    Esource access

It's not just for monthly pass members at all. It is included as part of monthly pass, and it works out cheaper, but you can pay for the meetings each week and also subscribe to esource for £6.95 a month with the access code available from your leader. Personally I wouldn't switch to esource...

Been told off by WW! Slapped Wrists!!

It almost sounds like jealousy to me - a competent leader won't go trying to humiliate their members during the talk surely. Even if they do feel the need to say something, then that is what the pre-meeting bit is for, to take someone aside for a chat. What a muppet this woman sounds.

Something finally clicked into place this week

After a couple of weeks of losing the plot a bit, putting on and ending up last week at only 1lb off since I joined, I finally managed to stick to the plan, still feel full, not use every single weekly point available to me..... and I've lost 4lbs :bliss: I feel raring to go now :)

    iPhone app

Yes Cosmic Star, it is pretty much everything you get on esource, so all PP motivated.

    wow I'm in heaven

I made some earlier this week - I will be making them again :D

    Gold card member?

As an aside, my leader told us today that if you don't particular want to be BMI 25 or lower, you can get your doctor to sign a WW note stating the weight he/she would like you to be and when you hit that, your leader will award you gold membership, even if it isn't near what WW say you should...

So did I :D Further investigations indicated "non-scale victory", I could be wrong though.

What are you doing for Valentine's Day?

We never bother with Valentines other than cards. However I will be making my new favourite dinner - garlic prawns and pesto pasta on a bed of rocket - and have just bought some of those WW mini vienetta things for puds to make a change from yogurt. And that is about as romantic as I get :D

    calling all weightwatchers

I swear by planning all my meals a week in advance, writing them down with points and then fitting everything else in around them with the points remaining. You can always tweak it during the week but I find it helpful to have a core menu to go by.
  222. Snozzberry

What are your shopping essentials (and their points) on this plan?

Also, you can still have your jacket spuds. Yes, they are more points now but you also have a higher points value to play with, plus your weeklies. Back in the old days I would have considered a 10 point dinner outrageous, but it's fairly typical for me now. It has taken me nearly a month to...

    Weigh in meetings

Every WW meeting I've ever gone to have 2 sets of scales. At the meeting I used to help out at, the scales looked slightly different and a few people would only use either one or the other after trying both and finding a slight difference. They didn't get shouted at for trying though...

    Creamy mushroom soup/sauce

I have just adapted a recipe given to me by a friend ages ago and put it into the recipe builder. I was pleasantly surprised to find it works out as 2pp per serving :D 2 onions, chopped and softened with fry light 1 clove garlic 2 tbsp plain flour 500g mushrooms 1L chicken stock, made...

How can i combat my self sabotage?

Thanks everyone. Well it could have been worse, just 0.5lb on today. I am going to do my damndest to find something to do this Wednesday that doesn't involve plonking myself in the chair with the laptop, a cuppa and a mountain of food. I think you are right rachluvsbhg, maybe I am associating...

How can i combat my self sabotage?

That's the thing though, I have healthy alternatives in the house, but I pass them over in favour of something rubbish. It's boredom I think, and really I should do some cleaning or something when Miss goes for a nap - nothing like scrubbing a toilet bowl to make you not want to pick up that...

How can i combat my self sabotage?

My meeting is on Saturday mornings, and every week I leave full of enthusiasm. This lasts until Tuesday, and I am really good a track everything. I don't work on Wednesdays and that is when it goes wrong. Once my little girl goes down for her nap and I can chillax, I crave bad food and I always...

I don't know what else I can do!!

Have you tried eating all your weeklies as well as your dailies? According to my leader, the full whack is calculated so your body is getting the correct food deficit, so maybe by not having the full 29 daily AND weekly 49, your body is going into starvation mode.
  229. Snozzberry

What do you eat on wi day?

My WI is at 9.30 on Saturday mornings, which I find a huge help. I used to go at 6.45 on Mondays and not eat masses during the day. As I clerked at my meeting, I wouldn't get home until 8/8.30 and would be ravenous, so would blow the points budget in one evening.
  230. Snozzberry

    Anyone else not like meat?

I eat chicken and beef, but I wouldn't be too fussed about giving up meat in the main. I have to be in the mood for roast pork/pork chops and I can't abide lamb - just the smell of it makes me heave. I have always said that my love of bacon sarnies is the only thing coming between me and...

    Fat Calves

These are similar to my wellies (mine are a different print that I can't see on the website though) Matalan - Floral Wellie and these bikers - they seem to have been discontinued now, but they are so comfy, they not only go round my calves, but there is even a bit of room to spare! Black...

    Fat Calves

I have always had chunky calves and they have never got any smaller when I've lost weight. Mind, I do a lot of walking and I can feel that this is little or no excess fat on them so they're not likely to. Over the past couple of months though, I have FINALLY found both a pair of biker boots...

Who has done both the old and new plan?

I have done both WW plans and SW and I am loving the new propoints plan. I am currently in my third week and to me it is the best of both worlds - the healthy eating emphasis of SW with the flexibility of old WW. I especially love the weekly points allowance. I keep forgetting I have it and...

    30 day shred workout

    WW Weigh In Days

Hey everyone! I'm a Saturday weigher. I had my second WI this morning and have lost 1.5lb again. At least I'm consistent :D

    Slow cookers

I am so glad I found this thread - our SC has been gathering dust because we only ever make casseroles in it and I was getting bored stupid with them. I feel inspired now :D

Going to have to leave WW

I have done both WW and SW more than once. I love the concept of SW but I need the flexibility of being able to pop a pizza in the oven or a ready meal if needed at the last minute without feeling like I've failed. Feeling that I've done wrong sends me off track until my next "diet week" begins...

    Oh dear

Mostly cinema popcorn. I've not tracked at all today so I have no idea how bad it potentially is. This is why I need to track - I could well be feeling naff for nothing!
  239. Snozzberry

    Oh dear

I've been so good all week (first pp week) and it all went to pot today. It would have to be the day before my WI too

    zumba!

I would love to but the only one locally that isn't on when I'm at work clashes with my WW meeting!

    PP weekly allowence!

I am afraid to use too many of mine. I am 5 days in and (provided I stick to my meal planner for today, might go up a pp or 2 yet), I have used 21.

I see a little problem on the horizon

I just found a recipe on BBC Good Food - a serving of that one works out at 19pp. So I reckon I'll work on the basis of that and fit my other meals round it. I have plenty of weekly points left over if I need them anyway.
  243. Snozzberry

I see a little problem on the horizon

I haven't signed up to MP yet, so I've not got it. But I will be signing up at my next meeting so I might ask her for the recipe afterwards (like I said, I don't like to before) and do a retrospective check on Saturday and hope I didn't blow the budget. Thank you guys :)
  244. Snozzberry

I see a little problem on the horizon

I could just ask in passing what she's put in it I guess, and try to work it out roughly and add a bit extra on just in case - I don't like to ask exactly for details because I always feel like I might offend the cook lol. I did reply to her message saying I'd save some points especially, so...

I see a little problem on the horizon

My friend has asked me to hers for lunch this week. She has told me she will be making a creamy pasta bake. How do I even beginning guesstimating how many points to allow for that? In the old days I would have a rough idea, but propoints are still so new to me. I don't want to bugger it up...

Can you use new WW system while pregnant?

IIRC they will let you join after your 6 week postnatal checkup, and if you are breast feeding you are allowed extra points - or at least you were on the old system. They won't allow you in as a member when you're pregnant but I know people who have followed the plan loosely on their own...

I just bought myself a monthly pass :D

Oh I have no problem sitting there with my eating out guide open along the menu either. I used to have a friend who would take it into the loos to read so nobody would see.
  248. Snozzberry

    Went to class!

At the risk of TMI, I used to eat loads of fruit on Mondays before my evening class just so there was a fighting chance of having a damn good poo before I left the office for my meeting. I am kinda glad I now go on Saturday mornings so the pre-meeting pressure is off a bit lol.
  249. Snozzberry

I just bought myself a monthly pass :D

They still do the shopping and eating out guides. I plan to buy these next week. I know we have esource too but sometimes it's handy to just be flicking through and finding something unexpectedly rather than looking up specific items.
  250. Snozzberry

I just bought myself a monthly pass :D

I find the new calculator a bit faffy. It's okay for using at home but I can't see me pootling round Sainsburys working out points on it like I did my old one. I'm going to get the shopping guide I think, so I can get an idea of what I'm looking at pointswise before I go shopping and then use...
