To go to group, or not to go to group...

I went down to one near me last year. It was so full of mums and tots running round and pushchairs that I didn't even get through the door. I found a further away evening group. Much better.

    Sweet treat yes or no

Certainly having a creme egg. But only one. I like them when they've been in the fridge as they seem to last longer!

Thanks Rae. I will get one but not a pack of six as I'm the only one in the house that eats them!.

    Sweet treat yes or no

I've only just re-started SW and have been reading up on syns and so on. Now I want a creme egg. It's not that many syns but it might make me want another. Do most folk just have the odd sweet treat or try and avoid sweet things altogether in case they can't stop at one. Thanks.

    slimming world v weight watchers

I have tried WW, Cambridge and SW. And no doubt about it I am a lot less hungry on SW which is why I am giving it another go.

    Rosemary has money troubles.

I'm surprised it's not more popular. But there aren't very many classes. None near me at all. So I'm giving SW a go again. I have some of the RC excercise DVD's and they're really good.

    Disgusted!!!!

I nearly didn't go to my weigh in as I thought I might even have put on. It was my first week back after quite a long time trying other diets. And I didn't have a first good week but I had paid in advance so I went. And I'd lost a pound and a half which I was very pleased with considering...

I certainly need to do something. I've eaten loads of not good things today. I could go to a few meetings and get the latest books. I think I'll probably do that. Thanks everyone.

    DOING SW FROM HOME???

Thanks very much for replying. I have got a book but it's from about four years ago. But I probably have some others if I search hard enough! I'll give it a try by myself for a week or two and see how it goes and then maybe try online but it is quite expensive and knowing me I probably won't...

After a 3 month break - I am ready to continue my journey

I'm trying again too. Started today. I lost a stone a year ago and then stopped as I went on holiday and never got back into it. But it's taken me a year to put the weight back on and I was terrible over Christmas. I think it's the best way for me to lose weight. When I first came of the CD...

Step 1 Sole Source Starting tomorrow!!!

I lost a stone and should have kept going but I didn't. So thinking about starting again. I've still got some supplies left. But keep putting off starting. Maybe tomorrow. Even if I could lose 7lbs before Christmas it would be something.

    Dawn French

Seven stones is certainly a lot closer to how much weight she looks as if she's lost. And she looks so young and attractive and positively glowing with health. Some of the pictures of Pauline Quirke weren't good and her face looks very thin in some but don't know if that's just the press being...

    Gaining all the weight back?

I don't think it's the few days at Christmas itself but the getting back on track afterwards. I gained about three pounds on my holiday and was quite pleased. But the next two weeks I ate even more. Big mistake. And gained more. Anyway I'm going to have a meal out before Christmas that...

What is your fave CD pack?

I started off really liking the chocolate tetras and now I've got sick of them and haven't had any this week. The same happened with the oriental chilli soup. I have the tomato soup quite a lot and I know lots of folk hate it. Is there one no-one likes. Choc mint nearly everyone seems to like.

    Dawn French

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Anyway has anybody seen the latest pictures of Dawn French. She looks terrific and has lots loads of weight. It said 4 stone but it looks like a lot more than that. It didn't say what diet she had been on. It's given me a bit of another...

what do YOU do when you are bored!

Well sometimes I browse through Amazon and order myself a book or two but that can get expensive. Or I might go to the library. I used to do quite a bit of knitting but haven't done any since last winter. That keeps my mind busy choosing wool and getting a pattern and the like and no food...

Pins & needles in my hands

Well it certainly would be worth mentioning it to your CDC. I looked it up on the NHS website and their was a lists of things it could be. Some folk mentioned aching legs and I did get those too a while ago. And it's lack of calories something to do with muscles getting more tired. So perhaps...

    I've cheated!! HEEEELLLPPP!!!!!!

If you are going to find the SS too difficult it's definitely worth giving the SS plus or the 800 a go. I only lasted a day and a half on SS and then went to the SS plus. Some days I do SS but not very often. I have lapses sometimes but try not to say oh well that's it might as well give up...

I must say I would have no intention of buying or selling Cambridge products on ebay. But I can't see what the big fuss is about if people want to do this. Except if it's to make sure of price protection and safeguarding of profits. What would happen if every company decided they didn't want...

I had gallbladder surgery about five years ago and have been fine since. I had to follow a low fat diet for six months and lose two stone. I lost about one stone ten. But I've not heard of this milk diet. When I was on the low fat diet I think I only had one attack in the whole six months.

Returning to VLCD.. but Dr won't sign form - Exante?

I've never tried Exante. But if I was you I'd certainly give it a go if the doctor won't sign the form. And then when you go below 40 bmi you could still go to Cambridge if you wanted to. It is annoying having to get that form signed when the doctor is not sympathetic. And if a person can...

    Thinking of joining

Well it's usually around about £42 per week. A bit more or less depending on what you have. I looked at lighter life but there wasn't one near me and it was quite a bit dearer so I opted for Cambridge and I've been very happy with it. The SS plus sounds more or less similar to what you're on...

    70th Birthday ... Advice please

    I need to know something!?

I must say that I don't know for certain but I have always been told muscle weights more than fat. Which is the reason why if you go to the gym and tone up you could look a lot slimmer but might stay the same weight or even put on weight.

Little request (no intention to upset or annoy)

I've been reading this again. And I definitely agree that the 100% forum should be that. But somebody asked if this meant 100% SS or would it include folk doing the 100% of the other plans where food is allowed. I'd like to know that too.

    Business lunch - help required!!

I agree. As long as you avoid heavy type carbs like bread and rice and stick to the protein like fish you should be fine. Not that I'm an expert or anything!! And can't see the harm of a bit of low calorie type dressing after all you are out to lunch. And salad should be fine for one meal.

Doctors surgery have a policy of not signing VLCD forms!!!

That is just so unhelpful of them. It seems drastic to change your doctor if you are happy with them usually. Starting on a higher plan seems the only way forward. It is a bit much when people can have gastric bands on the NHS and yet others can't even get a form signed.

I've been really struggling this last few days. And have had a few extra bits. Nothing too awful but slices of ham, corned beef, some cheese triangles, extra milk. As well as the small meal for the SSplus. I've managed to avoid anything really bad except a cake on Saturday. I'm quite...

How long to people tend to do ss?

I agree with Nette. You have done incredibly well to stick to the diet for this long. I am only in my 4th week and struggling quite a bit. Maybe it's time for you to move up a plan or two (not sure how it works) then in a while you can go back to SS. See what your CDC thinks.

    Drinking the shakes hot

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I also think I read somebody added a spoon of coffee to the vanilla shake. Has anybody tried that. I read it somewhere on this forum but it's hard to find things again if you've read them once. Not sure if that was hot or cold.
  106. M

    Rings

Well I usually say to myself in so many years time, will I think oh I shouldn't have spent that on a ring or will I think well I wish I had had that ring as I really liked it. If you love it then have it I'd say. Good luck!
  107. M

    Starting again!

Will you be doing SS or SS plus or other. Keep reading the forum to stay on track! Good luck.

New to Minimins and starting CD

Totally agree with everything you've said. I didn't have a blender that worked and thought a good whisk with a fork would do the trick as well as hitting all the lumps with the back of a spoon. Didn't work! And ice. Absolutely. I had a butterscotch shake warm and lumpy which was about the...

    week 8 weigh in:

Well think your weight losses are totally fantastic. And one slip up won't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. And I agree with folk who said, people losing 2 lbs a week on WW and the rest once they had been doing the diet a while they'd think that would be a great week. Add up all...

    Favourite meals/shakes

4 months on chocolate shakes. I'm impressed!! I'd love to try that spag bol and the slim and save bars. I've even had the Cambridge porridge for a bit of variety even though I don't like it that much. but it's Ok and more filling than the shakes.
  111. M

    Favourite meals/shakes

I'm on Cambridge. I wish they had something like the spagetti bol. I'm getting a bit fed up of shakes and I've only done 3 and a bit weeks. I like the chocolate and cappuchino ones best. And most of the soups are quite nice. The malt toffee bar is yum. What are the lipotrim packs like...

A bit of info to share regarding crunch bars

I was told that they recommend not more than one bar per day. I have followed that so far. (Not that I always follow rules. ;) And in the book I think it also says one bar a day. I am so addicted to the malt toffee already. I nearly had two just now but stopped myself. I think I'll have to...

who drinks tetras? and do u have good losses?

I like the taste of the tetras but they were finished far too quickly. And are a bit too thick. Most days I am on SS plus either the meal or milk. If I have the milk, I pour the tetra into a large glass then add milk and a few ice cubes and that makes a good quantity so I feel like I've had...

cambridge diet, SS please be careful, I was on it

Surely those warnings can be applied to all the very low calorie diets and not just Cambridge so perhaps they would be better in the general very low calorie section to apply to all low calorie diets. Also I am new but I thought this was meant to be a support forum not a forum to tell me if I...

    Whats made people start vlcd

When I was on weightwatchers I just craved and craved. Even worse than slimming world. When I had a chocolate treat I couldn't stop at that. If I had bread I was starving and ate four or five slices sometimes. Also I've read that diet drinks can make you hungry. Not sure if that has been...
  116. M

    Whats made people start vlcd

I'm not keen on black coffee either. I'd rather not have a coffee than black so I allow myself one with milk sometimes. But I've given up sugar! It was good that Pauline Quirke did the low calorie rather than go for the gastric band.
  117. M

    Whats made people start vlcd

I started because I hadn't had any success with WW and took a year to lose a stone with slimming world. (My own fault for not sticking to the diets.) But I obsessed with what treats I could have trying to ration myself to one biscuit one packet of crisps and so on. So now I can't have any of...

    lost 9 pounds

I stayed the same. :( I was hoping for say a two pound loss as I've not had that great a week really. But I think I have retained water today for no reason. I am going to try just SS for at least some days and not SS plus. (I've had two meals out which isn't usual for me) And a few other...

    Drinking the shakes hot

I read on here somewhere that the chocolate shake is nice hot. Has anybody tried the other flavours hot. And also which shakes go with the mix a mousse. Needing a bit of variety I think. But some of the ones I didn't like at first I quite like now. Like the porridge. Which is quite filling.
  120. M

    lost 9 pounds

Thanks!! Well my next weigh in is tomorrow. I've had a bit of a mixed week. So I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it.
  121. M

    Weight or Size

Ideally I'd like to be a size 14 but it's years since I've been that size. And I'd like to be BMI 25. Keep going!
  122. M

    Mint choc bar?

I thought the mint crunch bar was far too hard. But I absolutely loved the malt toffee one.
  123. M

Shall I put the scales away?

I hop on and off the scales several times a day. Not that I'm recommending folk to do that but it's what I do. It doesn't seem so depressing on this diet as you lose weight quicker. I've tried putting scales in a hard to get place like out in the garage in winter. I still go out and get them in!

Gonna ask a very dull simple question

Hi Dayna, I didn't reply because this is my first time on the Cambridge diet. But I'm sure you will be fine because quite a lot of other folk on the forum have done Cambridge before. I like the SS plus too. Very sorry to hear about your Dad. It is always hard to control eating after a family...

I'd like to be able to see something I like in a shop try it on and not have my heart sink.

    Preperation

Hi Keighley. It's not easy. However, there are loads of great tips on this forum. I've been on the SS plus so why not start with that if you think are going to find it hard. I've been doing that for two weeks and lost 9 lbs and that's with a meal out too. (It had been planned for ages)...

    naff week...

Sory to hear you have been having a bad week this week. But look at your weight losses. They are fantastic. I don't ever forget to eat a pack! I feel better when I have the light meals on the SS plus and I've had it most days.
  129. M

Wish me luck 1st day today. :)

Hi Lfc. Welcome to the Cambridge diet. I've found it great so far after two weeks. Let us know how you get on Friday.
  130. M

    lost 9 pounds

I had my first weigh in after two weeks. I lost nine pounds. I know it's not as much as a lot of you have lost but I was quite pleased with that. Especially with my record of going on diets! Thanks everyone on this forum as it's kept me going.
  131. M

what did everyone lose in week 2?

I wasn't weighed till after two weeks. I've lost 9 lbs. Which I am very pleased with as I find it difficult to lose weight. But quite a lot of people have a good weight first and second week. I suppose everyone's different. But I like to read about other folks losses as it keeps me going...

  133. M

    First weigh in this afternoon

Thanks Violet. I lost 9 lbs. In the two weeks. I was happy with that as I've been on SS plus and had a meal out which had been planned for ages. It certainly beats 3 lbs in 15 weeks on WW!!
  134. M

    First weigh in this afternoon

Well it's my first weigh in this afternoon after fourteen days on the diet. I am doing SS plus. I could have been weighted after four days as my CDC was away for a few days but I thought I'd wait. Fingers crossed!! I have weighed myself on my own scales but they are hopeless. Two pairs of...

Helsy, do you mean just add a spoon of instant coffee.
  138. M

    Struggling :(

Yes. It's not forever. That's what we have to keep telling ourselves. I had the leek and potato it wasn't great but I put quite a bit of ground black pepper in it and it was a bit better. The same with the chicken and mushroom. Some of the shakes are very powdery and don't seem to blend...

    Will I like the bars

Re- starting tomrrow. I'll need help please

I'm the world's worst dieter. Hopeless. But I've been on Cambridge for nearly two weeks and have found it the best diet ever. not saying I'm never hungry but I'm not getting the Cravings I got on other diets. You can do it.

    Violets CD Diary x

I got a little book from my consultant. It was £1.50 and worth it as all the stages are set out. There's also a bit of information on the Cambridge website. I get my wires crossed quite a bit. It was a bit much your CDC not making sure you were on the right thing. Or maybe that is a...

    Violets CD Diary x

I have been having the three CD meals and one light meal at night and I was in a panic thinking I'd got it wrong. But on the SSplus it is three CD meals plus the light meal. And on the SS just the three CD meals. Sigh of relief. I could have just tried the three CD only but couldn't do it.
  144. M

    Thinking about starting...

Definitely and absolutely give it a go. I dithered for a while but I'm really glad I tried. On day 10 haven't been weighed yet. I did terrible on weight watchers. The first couple of days were hard and I'm sometimes hungry but not much worse than on WW.
  145. M

    Caved in :(

One slip up won't make a difference in the long term. I've decided to stop all this worrying and just carry on the next day. Good luck.
  146. M

What are the best bars to have? Pls

I'm looking forward to trying the bars next week. I didn't think I'd like the spicy tomato or the oriental chilli soup but I like them both. Haven't decided about the porridge yet. I prefer a shake but the porridge is quite filling. The apple and cinammon isn't bad, don't like the plain one...
  147. M

What is your WW product favourite?

When I was on weightwatchers I really liked the frozen lemon chicken risotto. It was really tasty and filling. And also the chocolate orange bars which only seemed to be available at the meetings and not in the shops.

That's a shame Tweed. I wouldn't recommend the Atkins diet to anybody. It gave me gallstones. Maybe I had a predisposition to them but they certainly caused them I think. I am giving it my best effort to stick with the Cambridge for three weeks. But that's the Sole Source plus. Only did...

Hi Tweed, I am feeling exactly the same. Was going to have three packs and the milk. but I had a short walk round the shops and was absolutely starving and light headed when I got back. (So no wonder you're hungry after that long walk.) So had one of those tetra's. And was still starving...

Thanks that was very helpful!! I'm quite looking forward to it as well. That's really unusual for me with a diet! So many different flavours to choose from. Not sure if I'd like the porridge. Some of the shakes sound nice like the toffee one. And I saw the spicy soup mentioned somewhere...

    Hi Folks

Hi Elaine, I like the propoints too. It's so flexible. And if I have something I shouldn't well I just have to work out the points and write it down.
