Who are you losing weight for?

I think this is an interesting point. I also wish someone had pointed it out to me before I got really big, but then I wonder who could have said it to me and how they could have phrased it that would have had a real impact, instead of just leaving me upset but still in denial. Do you have any...

    Contraception causing weight gain..

I'm really lucky as the depo injection made me lose my taste for sweet food and so actually helped me to lose weight! I've tried loads of methods of contraception though, and have had really big problems with the pill etc, so maybe keep trying things till you find something that suits you.

    Does Dieting Work?

I agree Konvictz, but we do also have more available food than at any other time in the history of our species, so personally I think it's both. I have to say that I think the title is a little bit sensationalist, but I do agree with the research, I know so many people who diet and diet and...

once you've lost the weight, whats your motivation to keep it off

My motivation is remembering how hard this weightloss has been, I don't think I could do it again so I know I need to keep myself in a situation where I don't have to. Like someone else said I'm giving myself a buffer zone so if I go over 63kgs I have to get back on the diet quicksmart, and...

    Migraine and Weight Loss

Yes, this happened to me a lot during the middle of my diet and it nearly stopped me from carrying on so many times. Every time I had any kind of weightloss at all it'd be accompanied by a migraine. It's stopped happening so much now, and I'm not really sure why, but I drink a lot less...

Things that didn't annoy you before you started losing weight

This is so true! What really annoys me is when something that is clearly being sold as one portion (e.g. 500ml bottle of pop) has the calories per portion displayed really prominently on the front but then somewhere on the back in teeny tiny writing it'll say that there are 2 portions in the bottle.

    TTfans diary and lessons learned

Thanks both of you, it's always nice to have some sympathy when you feel down :) I've taken your advice happyhealthy and am drinking loads of water, and I forced myself out for a run yesterday, sitting around feeling angry and sorry for myself won't re-lose this kilo! So today some positives...

    TTfans diary and lessons learned

Hi everyone, I'm in desperate need of a rant! I'm really having a very bad week with the diet and I'm really really fed up. I get why I was overweight for most of my life, I get that I ate too much and had no self control, and I get that that was my fault. But this diet is so hard and just feels...

    Migraines

Oh sorry, just to clarify, when I said diet supplements, I meant things I take for the migraines, not for the diet.

    Migraines

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone out there also suffers from migraines and finds that their diet plays havoc with them? Just as a bit of background, I used to get migraines 4ish times a month, but my doctor put me on some diet supplements which have really really helped. However, with...

    Were/are your losses consistent?

I also lose weight really erratically. I find that I tend to stick at the same weight every day for a couple of weeks (I weigh myself every day, naughty I know!) and then suddenly lose a couple of pounds in the space of a couple of days. It's very strange! At the beginning it was more consistent...

    TTfans diary and lessons learned

Thanks both of you :) sadly it's not going so great at the moment due to a couple of days off, which brings me to lesson 3: Lesson 3: weight goes on really easily and comes off really difficultly. The disparity between the 2 is not fair and it's so depressing having to lose the same pounds...

    TTfans diary and lessons learned

Lesson 1: I have always kept an eye on my weight by judging myself on how tight my clothes are, what I look like in photos etc. This is utter rubbish and doesn't work. For me, losing 3 stone has only meant a decrease from a size 16 to a 12/14, so just because I've stayed the same clothes size...

    TTfans diary and lessons learned

Hi everyone, this isn't so much a diary, but I've been on my diet for 18 months, I'm 200g off being a BMI of 25 (although still another 8ish pounds to go to my target) and I just wanted to record some of the things I've learned along the way, so hopefully I won't fall into the same traps as I...

    CC NSV - Non-Scale Victories!

I bought a slinky dress to slim into for a wedding back in April and was so happy when I squeezed myself into it, I put it on again for another wedding on Saturday (different circle of friends and I can't afford to buy new outfits for every event!) and it was too big! I've never been so happy to...

Finding my head isnt catching up

I'm so glad this isn't just me! I look at pictures of me at my biggest and me now and I can hardly see a difference. I'm a size 12 now but I can't bring myself to buy size 12 clothes, or even when I do, I just assume that I've chosen a shop with generous measurements, or that I'm just having a...

    exercise

Hi, I know exactly how you feel. Is there any way you can work exercise into your everyday life? (could you walk to work or park the car further away?) Or would you be able to use your lunch break to do your walks? I also find that if I leave exercise to after work I'm far too tired and...

    DOES setting goals really help???

Personally I found setting myself mini goals was really helpful - the main goal seemed so far away that I found it really hard to keep up motivation without smaller ones to push for. I tried to keep them varied, so some were weight goals (next round number etc) and others were exercise goals so...

    Clothing confusion.....

Emily, I know how you feel, I've had exactly the same problem, 2 1/2 stone weightloss has translated into 1 clothes size down for me, whereas a friend of mine who recently lost a stone went down 3 dress sizes - Grr! I agree with what the others have said about different shops varying their...

    Goal weight?

Thanks both of you - I think I'm going to aim for 23 and see how I feel then. I just don't quite trust my judgement on my own weight, my "fat days" and "thin days" still feel exactly the same as they did a year ago! Aline, of course you can ask what diet I am on! After yo-yoing for most of my...

    The Things People Say?

I love this thread! I have heard so many of these before - the one that annoys me the most is definitely the skinny friend saying "Stop losing weight, you'll be far too thin if you lose more" - er, no, I won't, and the BMI charts agree with me! The last time I lost loads of weight I was a...

    Goal weight?

Hi Everyone, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster on this forum! I've been meaning to introduce myself for ages but have only just summonsed up the courage. Firstly I'd like to say what an inspiration some of you are, some of the weightloss on this forum is amazing :) Secondly, I was...
