It's been a bad summer for us and our pets Linski. Our cat had to be put to sleep mid July and now we've lost the dog too. :-(. Very, very sad. Ive aggravated an old knee injury while running and I'm having to rest it. So no running since last Monday. I have a 10k scheduled for next...

Been missing in action for a few days as my dog died on Wednesday. I think I must have lost half my body weight in tears over the last few days. Haven't done any hard exercise, just walking and a gentle swim. Haven't felt like eating much either, but my weights stayed stable. Trying to get...

Back from my holidays. Did lots of walking, a couple of runs and went swimming, but still managed to put on 2lbs in 5 days. That was probably because I stayed on plan with my meals, but ate a fair bit of bread. I also had ice cream one afternoon, some fudge one evening and when we went out...

    Can you eat too much?

Hi, I'll be interested in any answers too. I switched to Atkins a few weeks ago after losing a lot of weight with LL. I love this way of eating and feel great on it. But I am finding it hard to let go of many decades of fixation on calories in v calories out theory. Because of this I am see...

    Not lost this week

I weigh myself daily. It's great on the days the scales go down, gives me a boost for the while day. Not so good when they don't shift or even worse, they go up. The great thing about LL is that if you stick to the plan you will lose weight. Just got to have faith and keep at it.

    Induction Weight not shifting!

From your stats it seems you are already a very healthy weight. Did you stall at Dukan so thought trying Atkins might unstall you? I wonder if your body is just happy where it is and reluctant to go lower. I'm sure in time you could let go of more weight, but perhaps you would have to be...

    First post in here ...

Great start Stacey. Well done. I'm quite new here myself.

Advice on which book is best to buy

The new Atkins book encourages more veg from the start. It also promotes the use of Atkins bars etc, but it's easy to read and well set out. Dr John Briffas Escape the Diet Trap is my favourite low carb book. Gary Taubes is good too, but a heavier read

    alcohol experiences please

I haven't had a good reaction. Gave me a very upset tummy. I didn't get any sleep that night, for all the wrong reasons. Only had 3 standard size glasses too.

    nzmegs - Maintenance Diary

Hope the meetings going well and you didn't get too bedraggled in this awful weather. Increased confidence and self esteem is a big plus for me about having lost weight. I even walk differently, with my head up and not looking at the floor. Remember nerves are good. They give us that...

    Couch to 5k

I'm on week 7 of c25k and am hooked. At the beginning I found the run for 1 minute tough, now I'm running for 28 minutes and loving it. I run 3 times a week and do Pilates on another day, but that leaves me with 3 days when I don't do any proper exercise, apart from dog walking, and I'm...

    before and after photos

Wow. Thanks nzmegs. Just had a thorough read of your diary. It's so good to find someone making the long term eating plan I have in mind work. For now I am going through the motions with my 8 weeks of LL phase one management, currently I'm half way through week 4. I'm being very choosy...

Hello again nzmegs. Our stats are similarish and I know I've read that you are following the same sort of long term eating plan as I want to adopt. I wonder if you'd be kind enough to share some info with me? Roughly what daily carb intake do you have?. Do you know if this keeps you in...

Thinking about returning to lighter life

If you had a carb binge before you started LL, you may find the next few days difficult. Not trying to scare you. It's just that forewarned is forearmed. Take cheap, plain paracetamol for the headaches (nothing in sugar coated capsule form), drink lots of plain water and add a pinch of salt...

Wow what a beautiful face shape you have. Your short hair really shows your great face to its best advantage. I'm a make up artist and beautician so I notice these things. Well done on continuing your maintenance. I'm just finishing off LL RTM and swapping over to low carb eating which I...

First day back finding it hard

Hiya, Of course you can do it. You did it before and you can do it again. I'm sure you can remember how hard the first week was last time. It is tough, but if you knuckle down while the motivation is high, you'll soon have that first weeks wonderful loss to spur you on. You'll be a size 10...

    So Shocked!

That's a really good weight loss for RTM. I also started 2 weeks ago and I've lost just 1lb each week.

    New celeb after Pauline Quirke

Our LL counsellor told us last night that this story about a 2 stone weight gain was being published this week. Apparently LL have been talking to PQ and her counsellor and PQ has actually put on just over half a stone which she attributes to living in hotels and not eating properly while she's...

    One for the ladies only!!

Yes. I've had similar happen to me. Someone explained to me that out fat cells contain oestrogen so when our fat cells break down extra oestrogen is being dumped into our systems hence the erratic menstrual cycles.

Dr Biffra v Neris & India?

I've read both. Neris and India is fun, but I like a lot of science and research, so it's Dr Briffa all the way for me.

Supplements to help weight loss with PCOS?

Yes, you're right. Low carb, low GI and low GL are all different. Dr John Briffa (who I think talks a lot of sense) says that low GI and low GL are not low carb enough for PCOS sufferers. He says that it's possible to eat low GI or low GL and still consume more carbs than are helpful for...

any help would be so amazing (RTM)

Great advice nzmegs. I'm starting RTM at the end of this week. While on Total I've done a lot of research into nutrition, particulary in relation to my PCOS. Overwhelmingly the advice is for me to strictly limit carbs, avoid sugar and avoid processed foods. I'm going to do RTM, but NOT...

Setting goals and staying on Total

Hi, Im approaching time to decide when to move to RTM too. I'm just above a healthy bmi, all my clothes fit, i feel great, but there's a bit more belly fat hanging on than I'd like or is healthy. So, keep going? Move to RTM and hope to lose a few pounds more? or trust that the management...

    I love dr john briffa!

I finished reading Escape the Diet Trap over the weekend. Quite a lot of science to it and it wasn't what I'd call an easy read, but very very informative. It all seemed to make so much sense to me and ties in with a lot of other stuff I've been reading and researching on the net. I shall be...

Supplements to help weight loss with PCOS?

I've recently started taking coenzyme q10 and chromium, but it's too early to say if they're making any difference. I'm not on any other meds though. Hoping that the weight loss and then moving onto low carb way of eating will keep me away from the GP. Fingers crossed.
