Syn value versus calories of olives?

Thanks for the input. Yes it does make sense that they may have a free food allowance . Shame though, not so good news for the calorie counter! ;) I find they make a filling snack though either way and even at 80 calories are prob better than grabbing a biscuit or choc bar.

Syn value versus calories of olives?

There seems to be a general consensus that 1 syn equals around 20 calories. In the SW book, it says that olives are 1 syn per 8 olives. I am currently havin a bash at a bit of calorie counting so looked up the calorie value of an olive and it seems to be around 10 calories per olive which would...

    The really slow loss team!

Hi all. Have been AWOL for ages, sorry, but just had to cut down on my internet activity. Trouble is I did not cut down on eating hence a 5 lb gain since I was last on here. Back to square one I'm afraid. Lou what a great journey you are having. I am pretty sure you were over 11 when I last...

I don't think it's helpful either to tell someone not to take AD's because they are full of chemicals, so are most drugs! You would not tell someone to stop taking a heart pill for that reason. AD's can be the difference between life and death for some people and I have been helped greatly by...

    The really slow loss team!

Thank you Pommette for such a helpful post. I don't drink alcohol. Gave it up about 10 years ago, so I cannot cut that out! I rarely eat nuts or crisps, so they pose no problem for me. I love chocolate but try to have once a week only. I think the thing that gets me down is that I have...

I agree with all of this, especially with the drinking, as I drink a fair bit of tea in the morning, but then maybe nothing till the evening. Do you think a piece of fruit mid morning say a satsuma or banana and a kiwi at mid afternoon is too much?ust I just worked out everything I ate today...

First time I did SW I lost weight very easily. It was wonderful. And that was in the days when Heinz Macaroni was free. Can you imagine it? My mistake was to regain my weight!! Laura, I have a spare microwave glass dish and did them on this. The outside ones cooked in around four mins, but the inner ones still needed a little more time. LOU I think you made some fantastic comments regarding stress, cortisol, hormones and all that stuff. I live on my nerves....aren't you supposed to burn up more energy like that.....guess what folks, not me? :D Also regarding you giving up booze. Exactly the same as when I did, not an ounce...

    The really slow loss team!

Felicity I just wanted to share with you my experience last time I did SW. My weight loss journey was very very slow compared to most, however with much upping and downing, I finally hit 9 stone 7 lbs and was feeling very well in myself and looked pretty good. Most of the people around me...

    The really slow loss team!

Meadow sorry to hear about your gain. That is so disappointing. I am dreading going back to the club. I am now on day 10 of 100% and keeping a diary for the consultant, however I feel as fat as ever and certainly don't look like I have lost any weight and my scales at home do not show a loss...

    Slimming World Restaraunt!!

We had a new Indian restaraunt open up locally. I sent them a booklet of slimming world curries to them with the suggestion that they served them as there are tons of SW members in this area - quite a few groups going on. Never heard back from them, even left my phone number if they wanted any...

Oh Meadow, I know how you feel - it just seems if you slip up even slightly you have to pay for it with a gain. Hopefully it is just a fluctuation. Lou, sorry to hear about your * star problems, I never had that, always regular and never painful BUT I paid big time during the menopause...

Annya I am going to attempt for at least 3 times during the week to Walk Away The Pounds - an American dvd but it's very uplifting. Will report back if I have actually done it!! :)
  108. F

    The really slow loss team!

I doubt it will make much difference Lou. I am pretty sure SW do deals with Nimble, Muller etc. Crikey, the Co-op wanted 74p for Muller light yesterday! PS. Great news about your sister and the new baby.
  109. F

    The really slow loss team!

Hi Lou Yes I occasionally have the Nimble white and use it to make eggy bread, much nicer than with wholemeal. Someone on here told me about cutting the top crusts off any 800g loaf of wholemeal and it then weighs in at 60g or so. Much cheaper than always buying Nimble, which somehow never...

Maybe our sensitive bits cannot cope with too much fibre especially with all the chemicals in these bars. Heaven knows what they are doing to us all. They are tempting though when real chocolate and biscuits are a no-no. PS. I too suffer with the other end of the spectrum. Either one or the...

    Not Good at the moment

Another one really struggling here! I have been going to SW classes for 5 weeks. The first week I lost 2.5 and the following 2 lbs. From then on it was STS, follwed by 0.5 then STS! I just cringe when they are doing the losses and everyone is losing despite having pizzas, getting p~ssed up at...

I understand how you feel! I am finding it really hard to get weight off even when I stick to the plan. Last night I went to a birthday party and even though I am terrified of putting weight on, I did have some food - not a huge amount - and some dessert (lovely). I just could not face sitting...

Meals for a very tight budget...

You wont regret it. I keep seeing them in charity shops and buying them for people I know! I think people don't know what to do with them. You can do pasta also or veg. Brilliant invention. I find about 9 minutes makes basmati just right. I then drain it and put back in microwave for just a...

Meals for a very tight budget...

Ro1s1n You can really use the same recipe for the chick pea curry. I made one tonight with a tin of chick peas and some chicken style quorn. It was delicious. I also added a Kallo stock cube. With the chick pea recipe you use a whole tin of tomatos. You just need to add enough liquid to stop...

Meals for a very tight budget...

Sorry I have not been on the board for a while so here is the dahl recipe and I will do the chick pea one when I have more time. Incidentally there is a cookbook called "The Indian Housewife's Cookbook" (very cheap off Amazon) which is where I get a lot of my indian recipes. I just cut down on...

can I use my 2x A just on milk?

Some time ago, we made the transition to UHT milk as it is so convenient to store. I use the semi skim and find that 250 mls with a further 100mls of water added makes a very nice milk so it goes a lot further. I often use the extra a) as a milk portion, as I have it in rice pud.

Meals for a very tight budget...

Lentil Dahl and Chick pea curry are two of my fave all time skint meals. Provided you have a freezer you can keep ginger, chillis and coriander all frozen. Infact ginger is dead easy to grate when its frozen, on one of those mini graters. Tinned tomatoes in the cupboard, along with a selection...

    Favourite Breakfast--Whats yours??

Probably sounds a bit odd - but Rice Pudding. I have one of those JML star chef gadgets. You put 200g of pudding rice in, with sweetener to taste ( I use about 6T) plus 2tsp vanilla essence. Add 1 litre of ss milk (I use UHT) cooked for 1 hour 30 mins. You should be able to use a conventional...

Aldi sucralose sweetener, same as splenda?

Quark -any tips to mae less sour?

Especially nice with the white Options. My ds says it tastes like New York cheescake! Would be nice with a ginger biscuit crumbled over. Must try that.

Will fromaige frais work in pasta bake?

Personally I think fromage frais ruins anything savoury but quark is ok in a pasta bake provided you have extra cheese with it.

Aldi sucralose sweetener, same as splenda?

Yes, they are exactly the same, with the exact same ingredients but Aldi is half the price of Splenda, so a good result. :)

    Making Tofu.

And Indian paneer cheese too. I forgot to say though that if you want to make it so you can chop it up for stir fries etc, you do need to put it in some kind of mould, like an old tofu (bought) tray with holes poked in for drainage and then put a weight on that. The other way it is best...

    Making Tofu.

The strainer would be perfect - good luck. These things are always worth a try. :) I bought a book off Amazon second hand very cheaply about tofu and found a lot of the recipes can be adapted for slimming world stuff. We tend to have it at least once a week now. Apparently freezing it then...

Bit confused about tofu. Some years ago, you used to be able to buy silken or firm type tofu. Recently I bought a box from Waitrose which said silken but on the box it said "now even firmer"! It also cost £1.79 compared to Asda which is coming up on Mysupermarket as a £1!! I bought the...

    Fry Light - Buttery one

I hated it too. Just the smell of it would turn my stomach. I was not keen on the balsamic spray either. I ended up throwing it away.
