Your comment has just made me make up my mind to go - I tried to rejoin my local group last night and no consultant pitched up and none of the regulars knew why - so a whole group of people out in the cold for half an hour. I was so annoyed that I decided I would try to do it from home alone...
mmm I joined and EE was explained so I did EE. After a couple of months I was really missing my cheese and only then did a group member mention the two HEX As on Green days so I read it up and now do 4 days green and 3 days EE a week. I think that with new members EE could be explained the first...
I am in HEAVEN ..... Pete your peanut chicken curry is gorgeous! Hubby could not believe it was a diet meal and has already asked when I am going to make it again (we had it for dinner Thursday!!)
Cottage cheese with tuna / salmon mixed into it. I sometimes make extra spicy mince and then warm it up for lunch (chopped onion, chilli and turkey or beef mince) and finish it off with a dollop of creme fraiche (all non / low fat).
You can also use the yogurt or fat free creme fraiche to make your protein more moist on PP days - a bit of finely chopped onion, curry powder & yoghurt added to chicken is nice for a change (add the yoghurt last so it doesn't split).
Thanks m-mouse - think it best I leave them alone seeing I'm desperately trying to get back on the Dukan track - seemed to have lost my willpower around Xmas time :-(
Mine said to freeze bowl for 8 hrs (so I did) -the bowl was solid when I took it out - I still managed to eat my pink ice block (zapped it in the microwave for 30 sec then blended it with the hand blender) and it was very nice. Will have another go one night this week.
What flavour did you make?
Got my ice cream maker yesterday - obviously did something wrong as mine was very runny and now having frozen overnight is like a lump of pink ice (used rhubarb)! Will try another batch using bought yoghurt and see if it is better (used homemade yoghurt).
I mix yoghurt, cocoa, splenda and hazelnut flav which reminds me of nutella (bizarre that I am now having the yoghurt mix every night yet I very seldom ate nutella!)
At first I used to prepare a menu plan for the week and then do my shopping list from that. Now I've found what I like to eat best so my shopping list is the same most weeks.
Know how you feel - I've just given up smoking and am really battling with the diet. I find if I get on the scale every day it helps - if I'm up one day I tend to cut down for a day - I may then not have a perfect day but it gets me through a week of "maintaining my weight (at least I don't put...
I generally plan my PV days for when I have something on. When out I generally go for Steak, chicken or fish with veg / chicken salad (no dressing) - if out for breakfast I order poached eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms.
If you go onto the Dukan Diet site and fill in all the details to find your true weight it will tell you how many days on attack, cruise and conso and give you the date when you should reach your "true weight"
I agree with you on the wheatbran -love the bread! My next would be Dukan chocolate powder - my current craze is homemade ff yoghurt with choc powder a sf orange jelly!
For me Friday PV is an absolute must as it's fajita friday in our house... though admittedly mine are now somewhat lacking in tortillas and cheese lol!!
YUM!! do you have a Dukan friendly recipe for the fajita sauce???
Headaches normally happen for the first 3 days of a diet (I believe the 3rd day is normally the worst). Hopefully they will ease tomorrow. Try to hang in with the diet because it really does work. You could also try eating your protein every couple of hours. Good luck.
I put on 6lbs - haven't been doing it properly since 7 Dec but start back 100% today. Going back on my cruise routine so hope to have it off in two weeks.
Have a look in the "daily menu" thread where we list what we are eating - PP is pure protein day and PV is protein and veg day. Also have a look at the recipe thread as there are some good recipes are on there. With it being so close to Xmas you might be best to start after as the diet is...
I did 4 days extra attack and didn't lose anything on the extra days but lost on my first cruise week. I was pleased with my loss on the attack phase but towards the end it was really difficult to stick to it. I would just do the 6 days as advised.
It is lovely - I accidently made soft cheese the other week when I was straining my fat free homemade yoghurt and forgot about it. It was really nice to have it spread on the Dukan microwave bread:D
I've found I'm spending less on my groceries on this diet!! Probably saving on all the biscuits, muffins etc - thinking about it I must be saving a fortune on all the cheese I used to buy (strangely I actually haven't missed it on the diet!)
Seems like we're all having disasters with yogurt at the moment. I made mine last night in the electric maker and decided to drain it this morning to make it thicker - the whey poured out of it - I then forgot it and when I remembered I landed up with about 4 tablespoons of cheese (it's not...
I've noticed there are a few of us with goal dates around the end of Feb. I know what you mean about the veg - I did some marrow today and was moaning that I couldn't have it with lashings of butter but I actually REALLY enjoyed it with just salt and pepper!
My staples are:
ff cottage cheese with 1/2 tin tuna or chopped ham
ham slices smeared with quark, a touch of mustard and rolled up
mini quiches
mince cooked with onion, spices and herbs (reheated at work with a blob of ff yoghurt added once warm) - I try to cook extra on a Monday night so that...
FF yoghurt - I use Total 0% greek yogurt but any home brand is OK as long as it states fat free.
I'm not sure about the peppered mackerel so will leave that question to more experienced Dukaneers.
Good luck with the diet.
You are SO right! I bought 10 packets (to save on delivery charge) and the only way I can eat them is to chop them up small and add (hide) them in my spicy mince - tried to give them to OH and he said he'd rather starve than eat them again:8855:
The key to this diet is to be organised. In just over an hour I bake 12 muffins, 12 mini quiches for freezing and cook enough chicken strips for a couple of days. Lunches tend to be chopped ham or tuna with cottage cheese (no time needed there). For PV days casseroles can be bunged in the oven...
This sounds good ...How do you make this .. do you disolve the jelly crystals in a bit of hot water and how many tsps of jelly crystals to a pot of yoghurt?
The toffee muffin recipe on here is great (I even add a few drops of caramel flavouring) - I make them up and freeze them - then pop one in the microwave when I fancy something sweet.
I really surprised myself today. I was on a training course and lunch was provided (sandwiches only!!). Normally I would scoff them and justify it by the fact there was nothing else to eat. TODAY I went to my car ate a DD muffin and went back and took the beef and sliced egg out of the...
It's great that you have such a positive attitude and see this as a way of life now - because we need to take what we learn from this diet and incorporate into a way a life so we never get back to where we were weight wise. Keep up the good work:)
Liked the idea of no weighing / counting points or calories PLUS being able to eat until full sounded good. What is particularly great about it is that I can still have a social life and eat out (did Cambridge a couple of years ago and really felt left out socially!!)
Good luck!! Best advice I can give is to plan and precook. When I started I bought turkey mince and lean beef mince and made loads of burgers for freezing. I make 1 doz muffins and ham quiches for freezing too. It really helps and the muffins and quiches don't take long. I was really late...
Sounds like a really difficult situation. I would have tried to go to a supermarket and bought chicken or beef slices. Might be an idea to buy some packets of biltong and stick them in your bag for emergencies.
You did really well under difficult circumstances!
Must admit I don't do any regular exercise (apart from pushing a 16 stone man in his wheelchair for about 1 to 1-1/2 hours on a Sat & again on Sun). I know I will have to make more effort at some point but can't seem to get motivated!
I always have the livers medium spicy and love the sauce .... wonder if I could "justify" having the sauce as it always sorts out any "transit" issues I have:D
I use the DD muffin recipe and add 4Tbs goji berries (pre soaked for about 15 mins in boiling water and blueberry flavouring) and some blueberry flavouring.
Check the amount of goji berries allowed as my book says 1T per day but somewhere on the board I read it's now 10g a day (I think) -...
I've been having them in my porridge in the mornings (makes me feel like I'm having fruit). I've never eaten them on their own as a fruit. My favourite is to soak them in blueberry flavouring and hot water, drain them and then add to my muffins mix with some blueberry flavouring.
Not an expert ... but I can't see why this would be unhealthy - on pp days you can have goji berries and on PV days we have veg - so we are getting the nutrition ..... it's certainly healthier than having takeaways a couple of nights a week!
@ Maintainer - I'm pretty sure it's a realistic target plus it's a "swingy" (spl) type dress (I don't do tight fitting or figure hugging). Must admit I find clothes that were tight on me previously at my current weight seem to be a bit looser - wish I had measured myself before I started.
Well done on your fantastic loss!
I know it is early days for me yet but I too feel extremely positive about this diet which has a realistic approach to "life after diet" - the tips and recipes on here really help too.
How about taking some diet coke with you and say you have a "tummy bug" - don't forget to make a couple of trips to the loo so it looks genuine!!!
Obviously it's best not to cheat BUT if you do have a cheat make sure that it stops at that particular cheat and you get back on track straight away. My problem is that one cheat leads to two, then three and next thing I know I'm back to where I started!!:(
Turkey mince is reasonably cheap and they make great hamburger patties. Once you are on Cruise you can "stretch" the meat by using seasonal (allowed) veg.
:8855:I also made it this morning and (not wearing glasses) must have opened the wrong side of the ginger bottle and landed up with about a teaspoon of ginger in it - didn't have time to make another so ate it in the car on the way to work (it was awful). Will be making it with cinnamon next...
I agree with robinhood - I've got the book but have found the feedback on here about the recipes best (recipes in the book that I wouldn't have bothered to try have got good remarks on here and I've made them and enjoyed them).
Thank you everyone for these wonderful recipes. Before I started Dukan I thought I was sentencing myself to months (and months etc) of grilled protein and boiled veg.
I've tried quite a few recipes and I'm LOVING my meals - I don't even look at hubby's meal and wish I was having it instead...
