    long distance runner in need of help

    I tend to make one run a week just interval training. It feels great afterwards, burn more cals and feel more refreshed afterwards. I have certainly noticed a difference in my speed from doing it. Hill running is also a good training session., but must admit I rarely do this.

    Yes getting there I think WG..!! Today I did a 35 min power walk on the treadmill, with an incline most of the way. Then I did 10 mins with the kettlebell. Didn't realise you could burn so many calories by having an incline on :) Ironing all done, so time to relax :)

    I know what you mean. I have lost weight so easily with this book, but it is a hard diet to follow. I did love waking up and seeing a decent loss on the scales each morning though. The energy rush was also fab.......yes I need to give this another go :)

    Alcohol is my downfall too. Friday night is my night for unwinding with a bottle. Can also be a Saturday too, which then screws my run up for the w/e. If I didn't drink I would eat so much healthier and run so much better......wouldn't be as much fun though, lol

    I used to suffer from knee pain, so had the gait analysis and found I was wearing the wrong type of shoe. Since changing to the right type I have been fine. I would really recommend it.

    Coach: take it easy with your knee. Good for you doing inclines, must admit I avoid them and I know I shouldn't :) I have an elastic band around my water bottle to hold my Jelly beans in a bag. I do also have pockets in my coat, but find it easier attached to my bottle.

    I do use energy gels when I run over 8 miles. I do find a little boost, think its more to do with the hydration side more than an energy shot. I also eat jelly beans. Energy drinks are helpful when I am struggling to drink more water, I can always drink an energy drink. Races normally have these...

    I know somebody who signed up through a charity, the minimal amount they had to raise was £1000!! Unfortunately they only raised £810, so the charity were going to take them to court over it. In the end my friend paid with their own money. Not good.

    Rachael82: well done for signing up. There should be a bag drop off area, they work pretty well. Ideal if your on your own. I wear several layers, or a running jacket if it is cold. I find my hoodie really hot once I start running though. Gloves and a hat are also a good idea.

    As long as your long run is outside then you should be fine running on a treadmill during the week. Just listen to your body, the slightest ache or pain just stop. It is not worth injuring yourself. If you're up to 12 miles already then you will be fine on race day.

    Yesterday I did 40 mins of HIIT on the treadmill. Instead of using the timer to say when to stop and start, I used my HRM.     I used to exercise every day, but then found my energy levels dropped after a couple of weeks. I find having rest days helps my body recover, so have more energy when I do exercise. Now I run 3-4 times a week, but one run is 6-10 miles. My general rule is to listen to your body.

    I lost weight everyday I was following the plan. I got to my goal weight quicker than I thought possible. I only follow for a day or so now as I still keep losing. Need to adjust the plan so I can eat healthy but not lose anymore weight. I do love the energy it gives you though :)

    Well done Lurverick, it's not easy to get back into once you have a break. I am having to up my distance again, unfortunately it doesn't take long to lose the stamina. It was only about 7 weeks ago I did a half marathon, but now I'm struggling with 10k as I have not been putting the mileage in..!!

    I paid about £35 for them, but yes they are moulded to your foot. It helps a lot if you over pronate. You can get them in most running shops, I went to Sweatshop. If you have an option choose a running shop with a treadmill, so they can check your running form.

    The soles are ones moulded to the shape of your foot. I started with knee pain, but since wearing the soles I have not had any problems. I believe they last longer than 3-4 pairs of trainers would, so a good investment. Would recommend having gait analysis at the same time.

    I have innersoles in my trainers. I also wear proper running socks, which do help prevent blisters. If you can feel your foot sliding then would recommend the soles. I had gait analysis at Sweatshop whilst having the soles fitted.
